I usually don’t post hatemail, but this seems like it fit here. just received this set of messages from wutthedeuce87 on XBL (third strike):

I like this guy. it’s 1:30 in Alaska btw, not 5AM. just sayin.

So did you ask him why, if his mid-screen game is such hot stuff, was he constantly letting himself get cornered?

yup! he brushed over it and reiterated that I can only win in the corner.

his midrange game consists of walking backwards to fullscreen spacing and trying to hit people with Sean’s overhead from there. it’s really bizarre to me that he thinks he wins the midrange game lol. I guess I could wait around for him to walk back to his comfy range and do his special and then get punished for it, but I suspect then I’d be a turtle or something.

I picked Akuma because I’ve played this dude maybe 15 games before and never dropped a round. first game we ever played he sent me a message about how much he hates Chun players. so I played Ken/Makoto/Yun and he still lost every round. so I figured “well maybe I’ll start playing characters I don’t know how to play” and had great ambitions of an Akuma/Dudley/Yang rotation.

there’s no way to satisfy a Sean player though. no matter who you pick, you only won because he picked Sean. I’ve suggested he not pick Sean anymore but he ain’t havin it.

Its idiots like that which makes me not want to play online.

BTW I play Chun and Akuma to a degree in 3rd Strike, and I beat a really good Sean player basically just with heavy punch.

Well fierce (and roundhouse) in general does have priority over other normals in 3S.

In regards to scrubmail… I received one mail that was so full of scrubquotes that even if i can’t access it anymore (GFWL shut down), i remember the message very well, though i don’t remember the name of the guy…

Anyway. Back in january/february I was playing some matches in ranked while waiting for a friend to start a lobby and i find this “Zankuu Hadouken Happy Akuma” player. Long story short, i end up double perfecting him with his own fireballs only using Soul Reflect. Match ends, i move on to the Endless Lobby and a message from him pops up:

Probably not the exact words, but you get the gist of it.

Anyway, i must admit i was kinda trolling him, because the 5 or 6 times he ended up cornering himself, i would walk back, mostly to see if he understood that fireballing me that way wouldn’t work and if he would use something else, but he didn’t. So there was this waltz between me and him, with him getting cornered both by the reflected fireballs and his own jumping back and me letting him out.

On XBL!? Man how much salt do you need to type out all that using the soft keyboard…

Yeah, I made it a really stupid match. He won the first round (it was a team tournament and i had lost all my games up to this and it was finals), and I got even more nervous and in the beginning of the 2nd round I moved back and crouched and he followed me and it just snapped into my head that hed always come in on me so I just kept hitting heavy punch. I finished that round though with a toward medium but he jumped behind me so I slapped him to win. I yelled “i didnt mean to slap, i didnt mean to slap!” so hed hear me on the other side of the versus city. He was a really nice guy.

I don’t have a quote per say because really it was just an onslaught of bitching over their headset.
Was playing against your typical shoto only fighter and I was using T. Hawk, Which apparently makes me a “faggot ass bitch nigga” because I “only” use condor dive and mexican typhoon. I didn’t, those were just my main specials for this particular fight.

As I’ve said before if you’re too stupid to stop me that’s your own damn fault, It’s not like I’m really any good to begin with.

Guys, we’ve been playing fighting games all wrong! Trapping your opponent in the corner is a noob tactic that takes no skill:

(Skullgirls) http://steamcommunity.com/app/245170/discussions/0/522730701224600828/#p1

And when people call out the OP on being an idiot after mentioning something about not wanting to corner his opponent, this is the response:

I really need to stop going on the Steam forums, it’s bad for my health.

from that thread:

should be copy and pasted to everyone who complains about the corner from here on out.

corner control confirmed the “camping” of FG’s

You know sometimes I wish I could make a fighitng game perfectly tailored to scrubs. No corners, the stage will loop infinitely, no throws, no blocking because blocking all the time is lame and you’re ruining the point of fighting, no fireballs you cheap asshole, and nothing that hits in an upward direction so you can jump forever. I would honestly like to see how much fun they have with a game like this.

You forgot “no hitstun”, because combos are bad.

Just a few minutes ago I was playing KI against a Rank 31, wherein I cornered his Jago with my Thunder. I thought I could trick him up by using my Heavy DP a few times, but he fell for it every single time. I won the game with a little over 1 1/2 health bars and finished with an ultra, to which I got to listen to his lovely voice chat of “You fuckingg cheap faggot! That move is so fucking overpowered! Play me in King of Fighters and I’ll fuc -” (mic cut off from the match ending).

It really confuses me how high ranked players fall for the most obvious and basic things over and over again.

You’re assuming that having a high rank online means something.

He probably just uses the evasion roll over and over and over in KOF. Play a character with quarter circle or srk motions on both sides of the stick and let them give you the option selects. Athena is my favorite for that.

High ranks on online modes don’t equate to skill or actual understanding about the game

Didn’t know gfaqs had a “fighting game” board. This is where I got this beautiful gem from tonight.

“But maybe one of the reasons MVC2 lasted so long and with such fervor was, **despite it’s reputation for being super unbalanced, it actually held the most diverse and plentiful cast of top level characters[/b ] which allowed a lot of creativity to blossom even during days when competitive play was nowhere near as widespread as it is today.”

Have fun trying to find my sides.
Protip: You won’t.
Not exactly, more like misinformed. Probably based on cribbing from stuff that people have written about the game on forums like this one over the years.
