I never really understood why Akuma had such powerful tools in the first place. He is not even an iconic character for Capcom (like Ryu or Chun) to stand out like that.
I’m not saying that he is the best character in the game, but now that Cammy, Seth and Adon are being toned down, he will easily become. And please Akuma players, don’t try and deny it. Some of his moves need adjustments.
- Reduce damage on j.Hk and cr.Hk
Reason: He is an average size character that has no reason to hit harder than the rest of the cast.
- Reduce damage on far Hk
Reason: He deals damage on a 2 hitting move while most of the cast only get 100 or 110 on this kind of move. No reason to not be fair here.
- Reduce chip damage on ALL MOVES
Reason: Since those are safe moves that Akuma can spam all day, it should deal less chip. He has to many moves that can be used against turtlers and get chip damage and they are to strong. They should do 15 like a blocked hadouken or Sakura’s lk tatsu.
- Reduce damage on regular hadoukens
Reason: That is too much damage for a safe move. They deal damage while other safe moves do much less.
- Palm / SRK should NOT armor break
This is the most important request of all.
Reason: Akuma already has a LOT of armor breaking moves. It is so cheap to remove focus from footsies with him. Tatsu might remain an armor breaker, because if it weren’t, there would be no use to it. However, Palm / SRK leave him right on your face, taking all that chip, and do a ton of damage when landed. I really wanted Palm to become punishable on block, but that would really take out all his options. He has to be annoying and stay on your face withPalms, BUT, he also has the 2 hitting far HK to break focus. If someone starts spamming focus on you, you have that, tatsu and anything else you want (it doesn’t break focus but is a 2 hitting move) to counter it. The Akuma players are complaining because they will have to THINK and CHOOSEbetween their moves. Something that they don’t have to do right now. Guess what? You are going to have to think and choose like the other characters.
Also, the Ex version of SRK is fireball invincible, AND armor breakable. Come on. Are you trolling? It should be fireball invincible, but also armor breakable? That’s too much.
- Reduce hitbox of J.mk
Reason: It is a really ambiguous move the can hit anytime in the jump in, whether he hits you with his front feet, back knee or even with his crotch (lol). It could have a hitbox decrease.
- Hk version of Flip punishable on block
Reason: Only the EX version is punishable. Hk and EX versions are the same, except for EX being fireball invincible, so HK version should also be -4 or -5 on block. There’s no reason to decrease the recovery of the other versions since they are only used to bait.
All these changes are going to put him on the same level with the other characters once they are toned down too.
