Make streams PPV
Would solve all problems.
I remember waiting for people to post on SRK update topics during Evo back in 05-06 when we had no streams.

Man like I said I used to be a PJS regular, this is exactly what I miss about streams now-a-days. I fucking loved the back and forth conversations of every little move that happened on the stream.
charge them double.
to protect the streams from devastation.

To denounce the evils of cheapness and scrubs
I was already closing down chat windows even before all this so I won’t be missing anything. Although this is pretty funny to me seeing all the moaning and crying going on about this. Besides, all everyone does is just spam the same crap over and over again and let’s be honest, everyone just wants to be the first person to type “CALL SPOOKY” whenever a stream has a problem. Not to mention all the other stupid crap going on. It’s kind of like YouTube comments if you think about it.
i don’t think it’s the same thing. stream chat is a race against time. each person in there knows that unless their message is shocking or attention-grabbing in some (usually idiotic) way, it’ll get lost in the traffic and won’t be seen by anyone. that’s what motivates people to be as stupid as possible and turns it into a competition to see whose message is retarded enough to be read by more than one person. it also explains why there’s a direct relationship between number of viewers and stupidity of messages. this is my take on it anyhow. youtube isn’t really limited by time in this way, and its system of having the highest rated comments at the top is probably a good idea.
I would pay 3$ just to see a stream monster get angry after every major.
I was thinking among the lines of, “hey, someone already quoted the line I wanted to quote from the video. Now I can’t get any thumbs up and have my name immortalized as being the top comment!” if you get what I’m saying. Cheers!
I like you.
With Spooky also going the way of sub-only chat now (as mentioned in the
last NLBC stream), the circle has closed and shitty stream chat is
history. Thank God.
I watch streams for the stream, not to chat. At least that’s free for viewers.
This is just a symptom of a larger problem of the internet- The standard is that content is cheap, immediate, and free.

For example, you can’t expect to get videogame reviews for free and before release day, then complain that the reviews themselves aren’t really that good and/or that the reviewers suck publisher dick to get exclusive copies to review before their competitors. If people valued their time and money, they would be PAYING (and waiting patiently) to get the BEST reviews ever written, but people don’t know any alternatives to the current internet model.

Another example is that most people would rather get some shitty iOS game for 1$ instead of paying 60$ for a masterpiece. (Or even wait for a bit and get it for less…)

When they make you pay for a stream chat it’s like an extremely polite way to tell you “You are getting entertainment – which costs us money to produce – for free so please consider showing some love back you cheap asshole.”
Had to stop reading after awhile to say this…and maybe it’s been mentioned but has no one seriously considered how this effects stream chat as a whole and not just getting rid of monsters?

I watch a stream, I talk about what’s going on, sometimes see people I know or converse with the chat. When it’s a big event I subscribe to show my support and I do like the subscriber emoticons and insignia…but 5$ a month on every stream is too high a price for stuff like that to be worth it. Subscriber only chat would definitely put me off of actually subscribing. Mods are there, you can usually find mods for free. Hell I’d mod the shit out of any stream if someone wanted to trust me and while it might be hard I still don’t like the idea of poverty chats. The chat function just seems to set this generation apart, I’d rather watch a stream than a televised tournament.

If it happened every once and a while that’s one thing, but for multiple tournaments it isn’t a small subscriber fee. Mostly when it’s multiple channels and paying for a month won’t cover more than one tournament. I wouldn’t cry over it, just save my money.
meh…my 0.02$
