After playing enough I find that this game is a bit overrated. It’s too full of bullshit moments. Besides the glitching there is also the hit stun in this game. What good is a crowd control special attack if you can’t perform it while getting hit? Like when else would you use the damn thing? I got my Scott maxed out right now and with rapid fire weapon swings it really feels cheap. Now bosses can’t do shit to stop me. -_- Where’s Streets of Rage 4?!
Out of the two original beat-em ups Castle Crashers is better than Scott. That’s if I had to pick just one.
Don’t get me wrong though. I do enjoy this game but it’s not as good as everyone makes it out to be.
Does anyone else not like the music?
Of course not
When enemies crowd around you just use it before you get hit then move to a side of the screen where they can’t surround you?
If it used up life points I could agree, but since it uses guts it makes sense that you can use it right before you get hit, or not at all. Otherwise the game would probably be really easy. I kind of like the way it is now, makes you really not want to get hit. I do agree that the rapid weapon ability is too strong on bosses, it was like that in the original River City Ransom too. Easily the best book to buy in that old game. I’m considering fighting bosses on my next playthrough without it, I haven’t actually seen most of the Double Dragon twins moves yet haha.
Still I’m happy with this game, can’t wait to get a chance to play co op with some people.
I think that must be it then. I’m used to Capcom/Sega beat-em ups. I never fucked with RCR.
But see in most beat-em ups you’re always surrounded. During these moments is where you try to herd one group of enemies together for the smack down and use back attacks for the guys behind you. It’s only when getting hit on both sides does a special attack come in handy. Example: In SoR2 Alex has his flaming wheel uppercut thingy and his boxing comb special attacks. If someone was hitting you you could use that flaming wheel uppercut to break out of being hit. You use the other special to actually really fuck someone up when you are on the offense.
The idea is that you want to get enemies together to beat their asses. I want to be surrounded so I can do maximum damage.
Really I’m only mainly asking for a hit stun reduction. I should be able to pull my special off before some baddie beats my ass so bad that he lands a critical life stealing blow.
Yo I swear if u get hit once that’s it. Enemies will combo the shit out of you.
Imma repost this btw cuz the thread gets more and more interesting by the day.

Watched the movie. It sucked.
Let it be known I didn’t pay to watch it either.
How can this game have advanced play when after you completed it once you are pretty much untouchable.
You can reset your stats.
^^ This. Also different combos and set-ups. You be surprised what you can do.
Yeah but what’s the point when you can just beat the enemies in one punch?

I’d kick a baby off a cliff for online co-op

If you want to “cheat,” I did the Sword of Love code and just ran through stage 3. It’s pretty short & there aren’t really any hard-to-dodge enemies (that part where the UFOs & dinosaurs flank you on stage 2 always fucks me up).
EDIT: On a completely opposite note, it would’ve been nice if they made it so only character stats get reset. I wanted to try the later levels with a fresh character & was bummed out to find I had to start from stage 1 again.
What enemies are you beating in one punch?
He meant at max stats. But even then just play hard mode. The early enemies still die fast but the last few levels still take some time.
Either way, the status reset is there for a reason lol
still having some trouble getting that dont get hit trophy. got all the way to envy and got hit. its so frustrating. played boss ross mode and beat that in 8min 57sec
Got this from gamefaqs:
Skip Snowy Toronto
In the Snowy Toronto stage, fight your way to Hillcrest Park. Without killing the last enemy before you’re allowed to move on, move over to the middle of the right side of the screen and hold up and right. You’ll see your character slowly start to move off screen, after which you can dash blindly through the level with none of the enemies loaded. After the screen dips down and back up, hold up and right to make sure you enter the Subspace door at the end of the level. This is a great way to earn the Invulnerable trophy with very little effort.
