Street Fighter Alpha 3 is my favorite Street Fighter, so hearing the announcer in a feature film…

So, I just saw a screener of this last night and was pleasantly suprised. I told my buddy before the movie started that I would have never payed to see a movie like this and if it sucks I’ll probably walk out.
It turns out that the movie was descent. It gave me a couple of laughs here and there, and I think if you’re a fan of the Scott Pilgrim comics you’ll like this. For a lack of better words to describe the movie, it was really “wacky”, but it did end up working in the long run.
Bad thing was that most the people at the screener were huge comic book geeks(which made the theater stink) and I’d say 90% of them looked like they had just come out of their parent’s basement to come watch this movie…

It’s a really frantic film, but parallels the graphic novels beautifully. The music is great. Go Metric and Beck! The acting was fantastic, i usually don’t care for Michael Cera, but he was decent in this film. The artstyle was completely on point.
what about the fights? They’re totally worthy of any EVO tourney. The only fight i didnt’ care for was the fight against the Twins, more like Pokemon than an actual fist fight. Otherwise, every fight in the movie was epic.
you will nerd-out in this film, lots of SF references.

I saw the movie last night as well (early screening). Even though it’s origins lie in a comic book, the whole crew behind this movie did a great job. It feels like a brand new movie going experience, really. It feels almost like the first movie to come from this post internet era (I’d count Avatar as well but everything minus the 3d and CG could have been done elsewhere). I know this all sounds crazy but it makes sense once you see it. The way all the jokes, sound effects, camera cuts, character interactions come together on screen is a delight to see/hear. It’s the second best movie this summer that’s for sure and like Inception, I see no flaws in it.
