i love how ppl can definitively say X is better than Y. daigo better than deshi. no wait, Spell J is better. Wait Deshi better than all. Until they release a long ken vs ken ranbat, I don’t think anyone is qualified to make an opinion UNLESS they have practical experience playing them.

I have actually been to Japan and played Spe J at least and a lot of the other top players, and have been playing 3S since it came out. A Ken vs Ken ranbat would determine who’s the better player strategically. And dude is right Spe J is actually a real conservative Ken player. So don’t give us this crap about masturbating to videos. If you actually understand the game you can see who’s good/what tactics are good in the videos.

If Valle gave an opinion, if watson did, if pyro did, if jwong or choi or ricky gave an opinion people would listen. Even if random scrub / mid-tier level Japan player came in and gave an opinion ppl would care.
If you want to go purely by vids, at the highest level all the Ken’s do very similar things (except Daigo). Spe J is a very safe Ken, deshiken is turning into a safe one as well, and Daigo is the craziest with the risks, psychic-ness and footsies. His playstyle is just unique. His peers give him the greatest respect, he usually anchors his team in the biggest tournaments.
It’s one thing to say “X does this better, Y prefers to do this” than go “ok X > Y” plain and simple. That’s just a comment with no analysis behind it. Wasted space.
a Ken vs Ken ranbat is only relevant because it’s the people playing that you are interested in. If deshi beat spell J 10-0 in a set I think that’s a significant indication of who’s better.
And you are? A random SRK poster. Top players are not the only players to understand the game. They are just more strategically and executionally better. People who make sick combo videos don’t necessarily win all the time either. Point is, you guys don’t understand that I’m speaking of technical ability. For example, everyone says Sanford has the sickest Sentinel and you can see it in the matches, but even Sanford said it himself that “Justin is the best marvel player in the world”. That is what I mean. And video analysis is not that bad, I remember one Japanese cat that won a major tourney saying he watched vids and look at his opponents styles so he could develop strategy to win. The point is, there is a good reason for analyzing vids.
Mirror matches do nothing to show who is the better player. In a tournament situation…your opponent more often than not will be a different character than the one you are using. Deshiken could have won 10-0 vs. Daigo but then he could have played Hayao and lost 10-0. Does that all of a sudden make Hayao better than Deshiken? No. Yet it shows that knowing your matchups against all characters is important in determining skill level of players.
Let me qualify by saying that the “ken vs ken” ranbat idea was merely to pit the top ken players against each other. So we could see who wins more consistently out of the top Kens. IF the argument was Daigo vs Nuki vs Deshi vs KO… then I would propose a large round robin tourney. But since the players in question are Ken players, the large round robin tourney would in essence be a Ken vs Ken ranking battle.
Now saying mirror matches do **NOTHING **to show who is the better player… that’s just too easy to poke a hole through. If Deshi beat Daigo 100-0, if Nitto beat KO 100-0, if Jwong beat Nuki 100-0… ok I won’t even go there.

Was HnK played best 2o3 rounds or 3o5 rounds cause that game is really fast so I would hope that they made it longer. And also since it was a singles tournament how many total competitors did they have participate in it?
