Damn, good deal and everything. Air fare just had to be over my budget didn’t it? Hopefully you guys will have this next year and some of us can take advantage of it.
for people that have been to SBO before…
where do you buy tickets, and is it a 3-day ticket, or 1 ticket per day?
do SBO staffers speak any english?
are there cameras allowed in the sitting area?
I still have my ticket from last year, it says 2000 yen, thats about 20 usd i think. That covers the 3 days. If you book in advance you can get tickets for about 1700 i think, donno how to book in advance though, but i know it`s possible.
But like most people just get tickets on the door.
Loads of people speak english in japan, some good, some not so good, all over japan all the signs and stuff are in english so it`s very easy to get around.
You can take pictures and video but not inside the main hall, people do it anyway, but just don`t be seen doing it or you will get the big X sign lol.
Am a little confused with this thread though,
600 usd for what?
Does somebody want to explain that for me?
what do you get for 600 usd? Blow jobs and free dinners everyday?
I just got back from japan today, my entire trip for 5 days, including flights, hotel, food, travel, arcades, was 600 USD exactly. My flight was 120 return direct from london heathrow, more on my cheap flight a bit later.
But first here is a break down for people going to japan on a budget.
First of all japan is cheap, it`s not expensive to eat, travel or get a place to stay if you know where to look.
I can recommend the sakura hotel, it`s about 300 usd for 5 days based on two people sharing, its close to akihabara, shibuya, shinjuku. Has lots of shops in the area that are open 24/7, rooms have tvs, air con and free wi-fi in the lobby area. Breakfast is 300 yen.
Its a good hotel for people on a budget. Plus you don
t really want to spend a lot of money on hotels in japan, since you wont be in the hotel very much, so this place is perfect for most people.
check it out
http://www.sakura-hotel.co.jp/index.html
Travel is also cheap. You wont spend more than 40 or 50 usd a week travelling around tokyo in 5-7 days. The most travelling you will do is to sbo and back.
So for travel and accomodation your looking at about 350 usd for 5 days, probably a bit less.
food is cheap, you can go into most places and get a good meal for about 300-400 yen.
my advice to anybody is avoid this 600 usd package, its waste of money. The only good thing about the prince hotel is that it
s across the street from mikado and a few strip clubs.
If your wondering how i got such a cheap flight to japan, i went on a courier flight.
wow
This is once in a life time. I submitted my inquiry. Could you give me an estimate of how much will it cost if I extended for 3 days?
There are several different types of tickets for SBO. The ones that come with the package are theater-like reserved seats. Standard tickets are first come first serve seating, and are on fold-out chairs.
This package is put together to make travel arrangements easier for players and fans who are going to SBO.
Your hotel, your tickets, your transfer to/from the airport directly to your hotel, and the SBO dinner afterwards are all included.
Being a travel agency, we can book your flight too. That’s all of your travel arrangements DONE. Right there. The only other thing you have to worry about is having a good time.
Courier flights are not generally available to the public. You won’t find them available at a normal travel agency or ticket-selling agency online.
If you want to share info on how to get hooked up with those kinds of flights to Japan, I’d love to hear it. (That’s not a challenge - I’d love to find a cheaper way to fly over to Japan. I’d go every other month if tickets were that cheap.)
While we can’t offer $120 courier flights, we do have the best prices on standard flights from the US to Japan.
Unfortunately, SBO takes place around the busiest (and thus most expensive) time for travel to Japan.
The hotel included in the package is the Shinagawa Prince Hotel, and it’s pretty damn nice for how affordable it is. The hotel you spoke of (across from mikado and strip clubs) is the Shinjuku Prince Hotel.
Also, the Sakura Hotel is located next to Jimbocho station, which is a much bigger pain for getting around than the Shinagawa Prince.
Getting back and forth from the SBO venue (only once) is about 1000yen round trip. If you’re traveling around the city for a week and want to keep within your 40-50 usd budget, I don’t imagine you’ll be going too many places.
Also sorry, but getting a good meal at “most places” for 300-400 yen is absurd. Not in Tokyo. Not by a long-shot.
Threads like this are supposed to help the community, not exploit it.
I just got back from japan less than 24 hours ago, i can tell you how much everything costs.
Travel.
Most single tickets are between 150-210 yen. For most of the SRK people, they will be looking at hitting up the arcades and clubs and do a little shopping, that means going to shibuya, shinjuku and akihabara. For the hardcore 3s players you might wanna go ksks arcade, its a little far, but worth it if a ranking battle is going on, otherwise i wouldn
t bother.
Now if you want you can get a day travel pass for 740 yen, this ticket will take you anywhere on the subway network, and if you plan to sight see, as in not go to arcades all the time this will be the ticket you will want. It will save you a lot if you plan to go all over the city. But if you are just going one or two places everyday i would buy single tickets, because it will work out cheaper.
Now lets say for arguments sake your spending 1200 a day on travel, which you never will except on the days you are going to and from the airport or to and from sbo.
So check it, if you are in japan for 5 days and spending 1200 yen per day, that is 6000 yen. Thats 55-60 usd for 5 days. Now that is double what i paid to get around tokyo this week, I was in all of the above places everyday and it cost me on average of about 500-800 yen per day. In the 5 days i spent a total of 45 usd on travel, including coming to and from the airport, which costs 1200 yen on the keisei line.
So travel is going to set you back 50usd over 5 days. No more. Its impossible. I live in london, the tube network here is twice the price of the japan network and it
s not even that price per week to get around.
Places to EAT.
Ok lets say you eat a lot, i didnt spend more than 1800 yen a day on food. That includes breakfast, lunch and dinner and buying drinks during the day. breakfast was 300, lunch was about 500 and dinner was about 700. Now thats even if your eating 3 times a day, it
s so hot in japan you don`t want to eat too much, most of the time you will only have breakfast and dinner, maybe a snack during the day if you get hungry.
so lets call it 2000 yen on food per day. Again thats almost double what i was spending. Thats an average of 20 usd per day and 100 usd for 5 days.
so here is a quick breakdown of what it`s going to cost.
Food and travel is a total of 160usd.
Hotel for 5 days for 2 people sharing is on average about 300usd, you can find much cheaper places to stay, but the sakura hotel is very good for the price and the location is bang in the middle of everything and has good trasport links to the airport.
sbo tickets are about 20 usd.
sbo after party and dinner is free or at least it was free for everybody i was with last year, i think it might be 1000 yen or something i donno. But it`s cheap.
That comes to a total of about 470usd.
I don`t get this 600 usd price. Explain it to me. Break it down. where is my extra 200 usd going???
Do you get a limo from the airport or something? This is some joke thread to exploit people who have never been to japan before.
Threads like this should help people get to japan not exploit them
My budget for 5 days was 400usd not including my flights. You can be a lot cheaper if you want, if anybody wants to know anything i will answer questions since i just got back most things are fresh in my mind, but forget about this 600usd crap and fuck anybody who thinks going to japan is expensive. Come to london, now that is expensive.
gootecks, allow me to recommend Tonchin in Ikebukuro for ramen. They have the best Tonkotsu (pork fat flavor) Ramen in all the land. Open for lunch only, lines are long but it’s worth it.
thanks for the info chunkis.
it will also be my first time going to japan, with USD vs JPY fluctuating so much, i want to stretch my $$$ as much as i can. I’m going with friends who have somewhat figured out lodging plans for 3 and a half weeks in Tokyo.
basically what i’m paying is $500 USD for a Roppongi apartment for the whole month. that’s with a tv, fridge, stove, tableware and rice cooker, etc… EXCEPT internet. (thats still up in the air)
i dont have the link but when i get my computer back on monday i will post it up, but its similar to chunkis’s Sakura Hotel which is Apartments-for-Foreigners kind of business.
as for eating, my friend swears by this IHOP looking place for 500 yen which serves “American portioned” meals. I’m also packing instant ramen and nuts i bought at my local supermarket, i’m hoping they’ll let me take it through the airport.
Damn, only $300 to go to SBO eh??? This might >>> Evo.
more info about said courier flights and how we can get them plz if they are that cheap
cause i just checked out his-usa.com which gave me a price quote leaving from newark for 970 which isnt bad but the 420$ fuel/tax surcharge is just rape
so anything to reduce my costs should be communicated asap cause i know im not the only one buying tix. thanks.

"What is courier travel?
Courier companies often find that shipping material in the luggage space of an aircraft passenger is more reliable, timely, and economical than sending the shipment unaccompanied because it allows the shipment to bypass many of the typical customs delays.
The courier company begins by purchasing a coach class airfare. They then resell the ticket to you and, in exchange for your luggage space, give you a discount on the airfare. The courier company uses your luggage space for the material it is shipping. "
So you can’t bring any luggage then?
I don’t think the difference btw 470 and 600 is that much(honestly, 130? it’s a drop in the damn bucket if you’re planning on going to japan). And I dunno about you, chunkis, but having a shuttle bus from airport to hotel is a big deal to me. It’s safer, and can be a bit more scenic. I’m not planning on going to Japan for a good 2-3 years, but I’m going from travel experience, and I’d definitely prefer NOT to ride a subway.
This is Japan, not Italy. Street crime is almost non-existent outside of certain areas.
LOL, jumping to conclusions already? Look at my location. I’m more concerned about CROWDING. Fuck having a bunch of natives hugging my body on a crowded train and not go above my waistline whilst standing.
that is pretty much unavoidable as far as jpn goes
as for a shuttle there is one that tkes you express from naita to shinjuku or w/e, its quck and about 4k-5k yen or you could just man up and take the commonors route
I’ve submitted to fact that i will take the trains. $130 is a lot of money to me.
Here’s the place that i’ll be staying, i dont know how far it is in relation to that previous one, Sakura Hotel, but its just another option:

What’s this After-SBO party about? is there any way to get in without the Travel Package?
Yo, ill be there, and totally up for doing the manga kissa deal. Ill prolly be getting there Friday night (unless i can get friday day off somehow, then ill be there thurs night), so if we could chill and stuff, that’d be awesome. Im not much of a drinker, so i’d prolly end up staying in the area of sbo, but if you could help me out, that’d be awesome. Ive only been to Tokyo once, and I don’t know it nearly as well as I know Osaka.
Luigi bo- Where did you get $300 from? It’s closer to $600 with that package (or maybe 450ish if you do everything on your own?), and that does NOT include airfare. So it’s prolly $1000~ (being generous) for airfare, plus 4-600 for the package, plus the cost of being there for a few days is prolly closer to $2000-$2500 (depending on how much you spend when you’re there). Where does $300 come in?
Heck im taking a bullet train from Osaka to Tokyo and round trip, it’s still gonna be more than $300 (unless i get days off and have time to take night buses), so there’s no way it’s gonna be $300 for someone from USA to go to Japan…
yea thats cool rob, ill be around all weekend
i’m a noob, crown me. in the least amount of words, when is SBO and where in japan?
