Just because the matches could have gone either way doesn’t mean it’s random. It could be as simple as the other team being just a little better.
Ugh. I join the Navy and choose to go to Japan so I can see this kind of stuff live and then I have to be underway when SBO is going down. Such a shame… I haven’t been able to see any EVO vids yet either. =(

For this format, it’s a completely different beast. And I don’t like the 1 match single elimination process and team based play. I’d rather best of two matches no team based play if you ask me.

1st round… no problem. We shall come back and rework our strategy. Simple. People are laughing but yet are not seeing the big picture. They get to see where they are and what they need to work on. Top players and ol’ schoolers will take their loss an look back at ALL mistakes. They will also gain knowledge from the other matches they are witnessing.

A match being able to go either way does not = random. The team that beat them played better, which is…why they won.
They didn’t roll a dice to decide the outcome. Justin and Marn made more mistakes than the team that beat them.
Fair enough. I’m just trying to say that the level of play between Japan and America isn’t so steep that the top American players have absolutely no shot. Hopefully they learn a lot from the trip.
It’s not necessarily random, but it is inconsistent.
But that’s almost how the Japanese players are, each player has a chance to beat another in almost any given day. The Japanese players themselves have said this, and it’s made apparent in each tournament they have.
There’s more parity in the finalists than here in the US.
Honestly, that’s more exciting anyhow. Knowing that certain people will always be in the finals for game XYZ is boring, and lots of matches end up being too one sided.

I agree with that man. Someone here raised a point about sticking to one character instead of trying to counter pick. I think that’s key if you want to hang in Japan. Their knowledge of their character is just so complete.
Yeah for sure. They’re all just so close in skill level. Being in a much smaller country and having less egos certainly helps their case. I’ve always felt a lot of the best players here should be trying to help one another(and lesser players) more than they do.

No, no, I wouldn’t say all of it, but some of it is indeed pure, old-fashioned player hating. I mean, that’s what it is. Hating on a player. Literally.
People can get pretty vicious… when they’re not even there… 
Hope to see these match vids soon. I still think they should’ve streamed, that’s the new thing to do now. And as seeing two ‘not as popular’ guys won, shit will be interesting to watch. Especially considering they are KOF pros.
