nohoho – Just an idea, is there any chance that the initial round of the playoffs could be done “Game Newton” style so that everyone on each team is guaranteed to get at least one game in? It would help avoid the anticlimactic situation of having 2-3 people on one side who never got to play because their team won comfortably. Then after that first round, we could do the usual “play people one after another 'til you lose” sequence. Supposing:
Team A, Midwest
A1: Little Mac
A2: Jesse
A3: NKI

Team B, Northeast
B1: Arturo
B2: damdai
B3: nohoho
(more)
Initial round matches, “Newton”-style:
A1 vs. B1: Little Mac vs. Arturo
A2 vs. B2: Jesse vs. damdai
A3 vs. B3: NKI vs. nohoho
Eliminate anyone who loses.
Second round matches, “Taikou”-style:
Lowest remaining number on team A plays lowest remaining number on team B.
Eliminate anyone who loses.
Repeat until a team is out of players.
I’m making it sound more complicated than it really is, y’know, 'cause all you have to do is set up 2 columns of names and then cross them off as they get eliminated in the first round. If everyone is present for the duration like you requested, I don’t see how it makes the event take any longer either.
