Hey Matt/Poeta, wanna run a Dota money match? Im not talking shit or anything, just want some good practice matches.
Here is my idea:
You vs me, plus 8 random TDAs. Race to 5 wins. We alternate Sent and Scourge. We play with different randoms every game. We dont have to play all the matches in one day, it can be over a week or something. What do you think? For $20?
This probably isn’t the best way to run a MM, but 1v1 is kinda stupid, and 5v5 with friends doesn’t settle who’s the better player, only who has the less noob team overall.

No its not the best way because random TDAer’s can be so bad. I heard there is a mid only mode I might consider that, but no way in hell would I put money up relying on random team mates. I’d rather have a bad allie who works together than some douche bag who will fuck you over out of spite.
Well that’s why it’s a race to 5 and not just one match. In potentially 9 games, there’s just as equal a chance for me to get screwed by a bad team as much as you. It’s like playing poker and getting dealt 9 different hands, there are going to be good hands and bad hands for both of us, but the difference is we can actually affect the outcome by playing strong ourselves.

No its not like poker because the other people involved dont have anything to lose but have a far greater influence on the outcome. Also DotA is 100% skill while poker is not. As cocky as I am I don’t think I can carry unless some fortunate things happen. If you want something random I’ll play you first to 5 in -ar matches. Or we could do -armm All Random Mirror Match.

I agree. Theres not much point in having 4 random partners and using that to figure out who the better player is. I’d do the 1v1 thing if you wanted in w/e mode but I really don’t like the random team thing.
1v1 AR is a billion times more random than what I was suggesting, but oh well.
