Post this on the U of S gamers club facebook page. You will likely get lots of support.
Thanks! I will do so!

If you lived in Calgary I don’t know if I would woop your ass in AE or in real life, but who knows maybe ill see you in Sask
I can awnser that with a resounding"no you wouldn’t".
I think their all shitty.
nor am I sponsored player
It’s worst to fail when your getting
Do you just sit there, frantically mashing away at your keyboard with fat, stubby, cheeto dust covered fingers, or do you just honestly lack even a fourth grade understanding of the English language and don’t see anything wrong with this? I’ll let you pick which one it is, but I’m pretty certain it’s one of those two explanations.
MR. Jcreans. Welcome to the sask tourney host club. lets do a tournament series. hopefully you decide to continue hosting after this tourney; and possibly we may be able to work on something together at some point.
look for some news from me in the next week or so
Also, if anyone is willing to drive my ass to stoon, or help me pitch on gas/possibly house me for a night that would be great lol. #studentlife #willtowin #ihave3umvc3discs #ihaveAEtoo
Sounds good Burzy. I’ll be hosting for at least the next two months, but after that, who knows? Might go through the summer and into the next year, too.
Use the university as a venue. Hi tech has really bad setups.
Bad setups? In what way?
LAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG. Do you have any contact info? You should get in contact with some of the university people.
Oh, okay. I don’t want to change anything at this point, so if the first tournament yields some complaints about the set ups, then I’ll definitely give the University a look.
Stay away from laggy setups. Its honestly worth re-doing your whole plan to make sure that your stations are legit. Especially if said place is known to have laggy setups. They aren’t going to go out and buy 6 or 7 Asus VW246H’s for your tournament.
There are more melee players in Saskatoon than fighting game players.
I’m basically the head of the Saskatoon smash scene (not trying to be arrogant but no one else cares about it). Like 4 years ago or so there was a decent scene (I wasn’t around then) but it’s mostly dead now. Myself and my two friends are basically the only people who are any good but there are a few others who play. I think we should include it in the tournament because it’s something we can get a lot of casuals to get serious about and it’s a fun game even if you’re not good at it. The three of us will be there btw. I’ll try to get some other people to come out too. JcReans has already posted there but here is out thread over on smashboards if anyone wants to see how dead it is http://smashboards.com/threads/saskatoon-smashfests-in-memoriam-rob-bilokrely-blitzmidfielder.245407/page-25
I remember when Blitz was still around there was something of a smash scene, and it appeared to be more active.

I just might. Hi-tech’s rate is looking to be pretty steep, anywhere from $10-15 a head, unless I can convince them otherwise, which I’m not sure I can. I’d like to get it down to a firm $5, as one of the employees I called said that it had been done before. Unfortunately, time is a factor in my plan, and I need to begin collecting results for my research, so at least for the first tournament, I don’t believe I’ll reconsider a venue just yet, unless some extreme circumstance is put into question. The thing is, I need a complete number of how many people are going to attend, as it’s the evidence I need to bring the rate down, so if you’re coming, please let me know!
As for the melee scene, I’m glad that you posted. I wasn’t too sure about it either, as I know that the scene has been a bit down. I have been spreading the word throughout my school, and mostly, people are very interested. As far as I’m concerned, they’re all pretty much casuals, with the exception of one or two people.
Come this weekend, I’d like to get some posters around the University (As I’ll be there for other reasons.) to spread word, hopefully that’ll drum up some more excitement and numbers.

No offense, but I’m not crazy about coming to a bad, small venue to play on bad setups and pay extra money for a small ‘tournament’ with a negligibly small pot that you are organizing but can’t provide sufficient games/systems for so that you can do what will inevitably be a pointless study for an undergrad course.
I can only speak for myself, though rest assured I’m not the only one.

I understand your skepticism. You’re entitled to your own opinion and I’d just like to let you know, if there are problems with the first event, I’ll do whatever I can in my power to fix them, and hopefully I can gain your support for the next tournament. Thanks for the feedback.
These gatherings aren’t secret. We just don’t post them here.
