Saskatchewan Thread 2013

didn’t they do something with the release of 2013 to make a bunch of pre-set gems that most people seem to be using? and sfxt is a lot less boring now that they fixed things, damage is much higher

Damn it’s been awhile since I’ve been here. I’d love to get out and run some casuals with someone.

Just as a heads up, I have a semester long independent research project for school, and it can be about pretty much anything, so I decided that I wanted to host a tourney, probably bi-monthly. I need to get some data, so I think a time for the first tourney would be around mid-late March, and games to be included would be AE, Marvel and Melee, considering the smash scene in S’toon was established, and the whole Evo having smash thing.

Advice would be much appreciated though. I remember reading about a tournament series that was held in the university some years ago, and anyone who was involved with that, I’d gladly take some tips. PM me if you have any questions or remarks.

GT: JcReans

Dalton, while we agree that SFxT was boring to watch and such, 2013 has changed the amount of TO’s that happen during a match. But some of us in Winnipeg agree that if you didn’t like the game before you may not still enjoy it. Although I find the game quite fun now compared to before.

It’s a much more playable game now and runs faster. I believe during its debut on Savage Saturdays that they said it actually ran faster than AE as well and I can believe it since the actual fast rounds end really fast. I thought 2012 was a horrendous game as well and I actually like it now.

Don’t let it compromise your AE, Marvel and MK tournaments of course but I’d say that the game has improved enough that it deserves a chance amongst the people that are actually interested in trying it out.
I assume you’re located in Saskatoon. I would get in touch with the other saskatoon players as well as us Regina players to hammer down a time to travel there.

I’ve hosted a couple tournaments and the main thing I can tell you is to not take criticism to heart. there are a lot of people in this scene that are passionate about their games and they will be vocal if something isn’t done up to standards. make sure you’re consistant on your monitors, if you do crt, do all crt, or do all lagless monitors. don’t mix and match if possible. when you decide on a date, don’t change it. have patience and remain calm during the actual tournament because it will get hectic and you’ll have a moment where things might feel a bit out of control. Make sure you have a good venue. Our venue charges $10.00 a head to get in, which is why there is a delay on me getting this tournament started, I’ve been wanting to get a room at the U of R.

There isn’t a set date yet for the tournament but you’ll have a couple months notice when I do set a date.

right now the games in my mind are AE, mvc3, ST, MK, and possibly SFxT.

you winnipeg folk are actually making me wanna give it a try haha.

any games this week in regina
Anyone here play on PSN?

I’m in Saskatoon and I’d love to get some matches in with someone who wasn’t half the country away.

I play pretty much all 2D fighters.

@JcReans: Any tourney in Stoon that I know about I’ll probably show up to. Never ran one though so I can’t really offer advice.

@JeetKuenDont Add me on PSN if you want to play something sometime, PSN is my user name here. I play way more games than I should, but I mainly focus UMvC3, and GGXXAC+ right now. Also looking to improve in 3S and AE though so I’d probably play either of those.

Sooo does anyone is Saskatoon play? A small tourney/meet-up would be sweet. I’ve been wanting to learn fighting games and get into them but it’s hard with no one to play against. If we could get something going on at the U of S that would be so sweet. But I’m just to go to someone’s house/have someone over too.

Nevermind. after seeing what the internet around here is like, there is absolutely no point in playing fighting games online. If you haven’t played in other parts of the world you might not understand just how bad you guys have it here, but trust me, its bad. After playing in various parts of Asia believe me when I say you guys are not even playing the same game here in Canada. Even the US has it considerably better.

Its a shame. Guess I won’t be playing fighting games during my time in Canada.

Mostly because we are all 8+ hours from anybody else. Our distance is dumb. But, there are people that play in Saskatoon, in person. Why don’t you get in touch with them and arrange for a meetup?

No games in Regina until after March 12. Merlin is in Japan.

Im from edmonton alberta, and am among the top 4 best players in my city, ill be living in saskatoon for work and would like to get in some offline casuals while im there, if any here is interested or knows people in saskatoon who are half descent at the game please msg me on here or drop me ur number or something. Ill be arriving on the 11th Oh my name is owen. Oh forgot for marvel, umvc3.

Oh ps if you are serious about meeting up and live in saskatoon just add me to facebook, owen malonik

We have some people who play in saskatoon, although lately we’ve all been focusing on GGXXAC+. We’ve played a lot of marvel in the past though and still play it sometimes too. We often play on saturdays or tuesdays. We might be getting some games in the evening of the 12th if you’re interested.

Dustin is probably Saskatoon’s best AE player. (Sorry to the rest, his placings spoke for themselves.) He’d be who you want to get in touch with for AE games. As far as Marvel goes, I don’t think you’ll have a problem finding marvel ppl to play with up there.

Sup guys I posted here awhile ago asking for games with people in town so I was just curious if anyone here plays online.

I main AE and SFXT and I play on 360. I live in AB but I visit my family in sask routinely twice a month so when I’m in town I’d love to get in some games with you guys.

Yeah I got AE for Xbox as well. If there’s something happening someone should text me. 306 two nine two - seven zero two four

I’ll give you a shout, names Evan by the way just so you know.

Anyways where do the guys meet here cause I’ll be in town next weekend and I want some offline SF4 and SFXT?

Are you in Regina or Saskatoon?

I’m from AB but I goto saskatoon a lot to visit family.

I’ll be heading to saskatoon next weekend.

@burzy306 I vote no to sfxt.
Even if the alternative is ST, I’d rather have ST. And if we can get Anders over there for it, he’s got some (gay) game in st aswell.
