Arcana Heart in da kitchen since that’s all that the 3 most important people play.
depending on space and how many people come, there may be no arcana hearts
Than I assume me, Darcius or Jeremie will not come.
Sooo… question;
It seems silly to me to have a tournament for “fun” and yet make people pay to get in. I understand that its pretty slick to have prizes and such for the winners, but if its just for fun, wouldn’t the bragging rights and comradery be enough to make it worthwhile?
Especially if its just a local tournament being thrown together over a weekend. If it was something of a larger scale, of course you would want a good venue and registration fees and so on. But a “hey lets have a bunch of people together and have a tournament next weekend” sort of plan just doesn’t work out the way most would want. I know this is a pretty competitive community, so what I’m saying might sound a little childish, but even though spontaniety is fun, but you also need to be realistic.
This is just the ramblings of a complete fighting game scrub, but its enough to keep me away from said tournaments for now (at least until one comes along thats a little less intimidating)
Well, typically when we have $10 buy in tourneys at my place, people have a lot of fun. It kind up gives a little bit of extra incentive and focus, and is just a bit of a change from regular casuals. It seems to give a little energy to the crowd or something. At the same time, it’s fun and not really stressful because it’s a small fee and people don’t get overly worked up about winning. If we do this, you should definitely consider coming. Even if you don’t want to buy in to the tourney, you’re welcome to come play some casual games or whatever. Sometimes people come just to play some games on the other sets or whatever. Honestly though, you don’t need to feel intimidated. I /think/ the first time Jayson came out we were having a small tourney, and he enjoyed it. Anyways, hope you come if we set it up.
Allison’s tournaments are always really chill. You should at least show up and hang out and get some casuals in.
Sounds like a plan.
And I know $10 ain’t much, but since the idea of paying a tiny fee for a home tourney is a little foreign to me (BUT BY NO MEANS WRONG) I suppose there is a first time for everything!
I really do not know what happened in that last several hours, but this is looking much more favorable!
I will definitely bring a setup (PS3, or X360, depending on what’s needed). $10, $20 whatever name the price , we all have wasted more in a quick buy decision. I am stoked to lose said money to the local scene, and have some fun! Anything to get me out of the 'rents house for a few hours.
I mean really it is 3am, and I get home from the bar (which we will all be hopefully doing as a collective after the games) and shit is starting to look possible. Huge thanks out to Allison and Dustin for putting up there place. Much respect. If we can get another venue in time so not to place all the burden on them that could also work, but as mentioned before, up for anything.
Allison and Dustin if you need anything from me for your kind gesture, please do not hesitate to ask (money, booze, sex), I appreciate all your help. I am now stoked to come home for once, and glad to get a chance to level my game.
Keep it strong my follow posters, and let’s try for the best random long weekend Saskatoon mini-tourney ever!
I’m Outtie, Get Exicted!
You’ll have a blast next weekend charles, and afterwards you and the other AB guys and me can tear it up at the bars all night:tup:.
Edit: Oh hey charles I strongly recommend picking up a 360 sometime soon, so many good fighters are coming good and it would be sweet to fight online. Also when you and the AB guys come into town let me know, I dont work that entire weekend so we can head out for drinks and chill whenever.
If someone has another venue, that’s no problem either. Otherwise, our place can be available. Charles, I think we are ok without your money, sex, and booze lmao XD
Also, if for some reason there is a lack of participation… I don’t really see it but I’m not sure about Jeremie, Myles, Oz, Josh…etc? Then we can always just have casuals.
Ric, I think you should come? I know it’s not as “unbiased” a space as you’d like, but it’s a space. If you find out that you can in fact use the University for sure, the meetup could happen there instead. I think that if everyone leaves their internet drama at the door, it will be a good time. I can’t guarantee that no comments will be made or no feelings will be hurt, but I can say that I want everyone to come to regardless of their like/dislike for anyone else to BE RESPECTFUL and if you have nothing nice to say, don’t. I don’t want this to be a Ric lynching. So if everyone could please try and leave the past for the day and (hopefully) no one will be an ass during the event, things should go smooth.
Also, I’ll probably bail and not be here. So I will post event, remind people to come, make sure that there is enough confirmed equipment coming, and have the lappy ready to record results and keep info. The rest will be up to Dustin and everyone that comes.
So anyways I know that your post sounds like you are not coming Ric but maybe it would be good to try and get back into the community instead of being alienated by yourself and everyone else. Just use your real life persona instead of your internet troll persona and things should be good.
Like Allison said, if you don’t feel like participating in the tournament, you are more than welcome to come play casuals on other setups, as they will most likely not be all used because we will want to watch some of the tournament matches. Also remember that Allison and Dustin aren’t taking any of this money as a “venue fee,” so all buy-ins go directly to the players.
Yeah, I knew what they meant. I just meant that its the first time I’ve bought into a local thing, thats all.
Oh I see … My mistake.
If it’s saturday we might be able to show up.
Bring your fp7 Merlin.
Also Ric, do you think you could put the link to TTF forum in your first post in this thread? That way, people who are new to this thread will not have to search/and or make a post asking about their local scene gatherings. They could just find it right on the first page if they so desire.
Thanks champ.
I lied, guys. I’ll post event tomorrow. Probably on TTF and here as well.
Thanks Allie:smile:
So I’ve been reading a bit on some of the early impressions of MK9 and so far it sounds really solid. I’ll easily be maining this game for awhile and putting SF4 on hold untill AE. I’ve just been bored with SF4 recently and havn’t even bothered to touch the game since MM.Hopefully MK9 will get me back into the fighting mood and I cant wait till I ge the tournament edition on tuesday…although unfortunately I won’t be able to put any real time into untill later in the week lol:annoy:
Edit: KOF13 might possibly be coming out after SF4AE which if im not mistaken will be around the same time as 3S:OE…damn that feels sooo far away!
Honestly, after watching some competitive gameplay footage, MK9 seems pretty neat. Don’t know if I’ll buy it though.
I would say its worth it but holding off isnt a bad idea either, at least to see how the game will progress at high level. Im personaly just waiting untill matches from wong start to make there rounds to this games true depth can really go in display.
