I just honestly think as good of a game MK9 might turn out to be, i don’t see it becoming a staple, out of all the games with more hardcore fan bases. Like we have SSF4, Tekkan 6, MVC3 as the big ones, then we got Guilty Gear, Blaze Blue, Melty and even Arcana 3 now sure smaller communities in north America but still larger then MK. Am positive am missing a few more games but its early in the morning and my coffees still making. Like i dont even really like Melty but they are one of the hypest communitys out there they rival Marvel 2.
Oh there is some knee deep knighting going on in this thread. From my white knight experience, it is mostly a result of testosterone and youth. Which are both aplenty in the FG community.
I checked giant bombs quick look of the MK demo. No run button. It seems a lot like the MK I remember playing.
I only play SF4, I might play TTTT if it get’s a nice scene happening because True Ogre is confirmed and he hasn’t been available since the original TTT. I don’t have time to play more than 1 main fighting game.

As much as I really love to play fighting games, there are times I facepalm and wonder why I bother (looking back on this thread tends to be a reminder of why- no one needs to get mired in this kind of jackassery). I think it is true that fewer women play fighters, at least compared to mmo’s certainly and FPS genres, etc. Yet I do still really appreciate playing once in awhile (3S anyone?). It would be nice to see more women playing fighters, though.
Yup, and you know what women do when men are doing things they aren’t interest in? They bake! And they cook meals! You’ll get girlfriends that really don’t care about SF or cosplaying. Those are the best girls to have around for cooking.
Well I personally think this sudden “white night” attitude is about as silly as this sudden"holy then thou"attitude, especially considering that this is only a online forum with no ones safety is at stake. It is what it is I guess though so whatever, I’m just gonna try my best to keep it about the games and leave it at that.
Anyhow Josh its hard to tell how MK will fair in the competitive field but if I had to guess I’d say it will do pretty good. The MK brand is one of the most influencial games in history and historically speaking from a commercial perspective, been one of the top selling fighting games. I have high hopes for this game and Im certain people will come to appreciate it on a massive scale once it hits retail.
Yeah it’s made a lot of people money but then again so has slavery. MK is only interesting again because it’s going back to it’s roots. It’s not as important or has influential as you think. It’s time in the light as a leader in the industry has long been gone. Sure there will always be people who scream hell yeah when they see scorpion. But those people will always be there and few in numbers. This MK looks alright but I’m gonna take it slow.

Anyhow while its true that MK isn’t the powerhouse it once was nearly 2 decades ago, it has managed to remain somewhat relevent thanks the to MK 3D series (for better or for worse). SF didn’t have that advantage coming into 4, if anything it was nearly written off by the mainstream gaming public since probably A3.

As for why SF was written off it was because it was still trying to be competitive and everyone else was so awestruck by terrible 3d graphics and lame 3d fighters. Mortal Kombat has always been up there because it stayed with the times of bad 3d gameplay and that it was still bloody and just nostalgia.
i feel MK9 will be the redemption of the series whether it do good in the competive scene or not, it will still have a strong following and we can finally hake off the MK sucks sterotype. So honestly am pretty sure MK9 is a win win.
If theres baraka in it i’ll buy it and give it a shot. If they add Human fucking smoke am gonna dive deep into this game in fan boyish happiness.
Yeah the last few girls Ive been with have all been great cooks too, except for the one I was with last weekend so I just had to order some verns instead. Although the gal Im seeing this weekend told me she will cook me some spaghetti so thats a good start lol.

Also Mortal Kombat looking like a day one buy for me on sheer quantity of stuff that is included in the game. I sorta feel sorry for people who paid 60+ bucks for mvc3 cuz honestly on the amount of stuff that the game offers it probably should of been a 29.99 to 39.99 price range.

Anyhow I agree about MK9, it will easily pack in the most extra’s from any next gen fighter we have seen…oh and I hope the reward for the chanllenge tower is the HD UMK3 they teased a few months ago!

Plus ohhh a bunch of modes hardley anyone will play! Oh my god. When i buy a fighting game all i fucking want is, Aracde Mode, Versus Mode and Training Mode, add online to. Thats it, did anybody! play SF4 survival mode a second time through, no.
Other modes are good i guess but they dont add value. am tired of that, Oh this game has a bunch of extra features that noone will use thats sooo cool.
Am tired of developers having a game released in aracdes then taking like over a year to port because of pointless shit like this. I’d pay 60 for a great game that just had Arcade, versus,training because i hate online, its laggy and just blegh.
