Saskatchewan Thread 2011

Well anyways the MK9 demo is coming out 2morro and I couldn’t be more hyped…but yet nervous at the sametme lol. Its really a"make or break"it deal with this game so I’m hoping it turnts out good, I have high expectations. I also am getting a tech to come fix my internet connection…as it turns out my signal was weak which was causing my terrible latency issues.

we await your return, warrior

No, its angering. Sanford is making real valid points and they’re just shitting all over him. Interrupting him, and trying to make a joke out of him. He’s one of the best fighting game players around and they won’t even listen to what he has to say because they don’t agree with it. How childish. Apart from the sexist comment he made, the fact that people who were previously nobodies in the fighting game community picked up mvc3 and suddenly became successful is a truth people need to face. A fighting game should reliably produce the better player, not randomly promote nobodies to the top one day and have those who excel buried under a mountain of lucky but mediocre players. This is an issue that people still supporting mvc3 need to contemplate on.

it is a brand new game. If Noel Brown put in more time than everybody else and is winning now, no need to criticize the game… its just a player whose found something that works for him. Saying Marvel sucks because Noel went from being an also-ran in SSF4 to King of New York in MvC3 doesn’t make sense. If the other guys are so good, how come they haven’t been able to beat him? If he can consistently “random out” a comeback with a lvl3 Sentinel… well, consistent & random don’t belong together so he must be doing something right.
X-factor is complete garbage and comes dangerously close to ruining the game (it does ruin the game for most) but aside from that I think MvC3 is solid. I wish there were a few execution barriers when it comes to certain things (FLOOR BOUNCE) and probably a damage reduction across the board but other than that there is one hell of a good game there

Rick, I don’t feel we have a personal beef. You haven’t done much to me personally, I just really, really disrespect you as a person. I’ll just make a bullet list and save skip the essay.

  • You are an egomaniac who is consumed with the idea that being the best in a video game is the most important thing in your life

  • The first impression we have of you is picking on a girl and making her cry, but not before we had to deal with you two bickering in Gordon’s house. During this you followed her around like a creeper outside.

  • You talk down to anyone who you don’t consider a top player

  • You think this is YOUR thread. You treat a public forum like it is your private piece of the internet and they are lucky to have their message near yours.

  • When faced with criticism you tell people that they are not worth responding to, followed by a huge essay responding to them. Then you tell them to forget the past and move on and that it is time to rebuild the scene for the millionth time.

  • You ditched Bee at the Canada Cup after you agreed to team with him, he found out when you asked him “So who u teaming with for SF4?” the day of the event.

  • You tease a girl about her weight and her mental condition, this alone is unforgivable. Your an adult, there is never a good reason to do that especially on a public forum where your only goal is the humiliation of a girl who wanted to play a video game with her friends. Your a real tough guy. If this girl is unstable, do you want to be responsible for publicly humiliating her and bullying her for a year when she breaks down and hurts herself or worse? Do you want that on your conscience? Be a man and grow up. Ruining someones life because you want to be a good street fighter player and you cant move on, your scum.

  • You made fun of Dustin for having a heart condition and about how hes not going to be around long. Totally unforgivable, once again: you are scum.

  • You think your “Special”. Your just a fat nerd from Saskatchewan who has nothing to offer the world besides a forum thread that we read like a tabloid.

  • Your entire “scene” hates you, and you think this is OK. Rather than examine why this is, you brush them off as lesser mortals who don’t understand what a real community is. I would rather go 0-2 at every tournament and go out for food/drinks/casuals with the boys and meet lots of new friends instead of winning everything and having to defend myself at all times.

  • Your a sociopath and don’t see it. Profile of the Sociopath

These are the things I think of when people mention your name, this is the character you’ve developed. If your scene had anybody like me in it, they would do the right thing and the second you picked on a girl or a guys heart condition they would beat the shit out of you. Luckily for you, your scene has no backbone. This isn’t a threat from me, I have no intention of fighting you since this isn’t my fight. But hopefully you can take something away from this post and re-examine yourself as a person. If 13 year old Rick read this post and was told “this is what people will think of you in ten years” what would that boy think?

Rick, you are a bad person and the world would be better without you.

Has no backbone?

I’m here now.

You really mean “had”.

I keep it real.

Perhaps you’ve never been a competitive player in more than one fighting game?
The ability to learn and play fighting games carries over to a huge extent.
Daigo and Justin and Sanford and Yipes and N Otoko are good players when they pick up a new game because they were good players in the games that they played before.
The fundamental skills and abilities that you gather together have value in other games.

If SF5 came out tomorrow and you picked it up the exact same second of the exact same day that say, Ogawa or FAB did, then played the same number of matches against the same quality of players and spent the same amount of time reading into the game and watching matchvids and tutorials, then you played them a week later, you would get absolutely crushed. Not because of the time you spent playing SF5, but because of the time you spent playing fighting games.

Good players aren’t good players exclusive to their game, they are just good players.

Even if Noel Brown put in a ludicrous amount of time into MvC3 it doesn’t justify his results if you compare it to all the time that every top player put into every game.
Because he doesn’t have that time in every (or any) other game.

If MvC3 existed in a vacuum away from every other fighting game, you could make that kind of argument.

For a nobody who waves a flag and shouts cheerleading on the sidelines to becomes a top player overnight, you should take considerations into the ability for his game to reliably determine the better player.

Scrubs are winning at MVC3 because a bunch of the top players are still trying to play MVC2. Real talk.

This coming from the troll ric himself oh lord. sanford has hated on sf4 and hd remix as well sooo, bout time you pick up a ganme that requires skill i guess ric.sorry just cant really take you seriously. Since were going by what sanford kelly says your not a top player in the slightest.

Then again why am i arguing this with you at all!. Your clearly either a troll or one of the stupidest people i’ve met because nobody would ever think, SkullGirls good game, Guilty gear bad.

You preach old games and yet one of the best old school fighting games that stayed true to being hard and all that shit that makes you happy you call a bad game. Either how trolly are you? or how stupid are you?

It seems the only games you can be called “Good at” are games that are striclty capcom based with Streetfighter fundamentals.

In the words of somthing Darc might say.

Bad Player is bad. The end.

I don’t use 4chan memes in my posts.

I don’t capitalize arbitrarily.

I don’t say “the end” at the end of my posts.

In the words of darcius:

“badplayer”

leave it at that

James: If you say we have no beef and that this situation doesnt concern you then lets just leave it at that and call it a wrap. I do regret what happened at gordon’s place and with bee at CC though, and the next time I see them I will be sure to apologize. As for everything else you said…well I’ll say this. No one is perfect and we all make mistakes and Im clearly no exception to this. I have a temper that I dont always keep in check and as a result I sometimes do and say things im not always happy or proud of. In particular I am not very pleased with myself over my recent comments and I can “man up"enough to admit that I was being a jerk and very cruel. However this"jerk” isnt who I am or what im all about and it certainly doesnt speak for me as a person. With that being said, we cant change the past so for as much as id like to go back in time and correct some of my decisions I cant. All I can do is offer a apology to the people I hurt and promise that nothing like this will ever happen again and move forward.

No on topic, MK9 is just a few hours away and the demo will feature my main guy…this will be one awesome day!

Dear Lord Ricardo, where do you build the nerve to post all these things. Especially since people know who you are and know where you live. If it were me, I’d be afraid to show my face in public. Saskatoon isn’t a huge city either…

I think it’s time you moved to Toronto, Vancouver or something, you might find people as obsessed about video games as you are. What exactly is it in Saskatoon that is holding you back from moving? And don’t say friends, family, school, or work. I think you’ve proven how much fighting games mean to you.

And since when has work or school not been a reasonable excuse for being unable to host video games? If you ask me “not feeling like playing video games” is a reasonable excuse for not hosting. The gatherings at Allison/Dustin’s place are fine. Personally I think it’s ridiculous they hosted as much as they did these past years. People were there almost every weekend!

I think the expression "coming a little too late to the party"applies best to this post, sorry eldon but the shows over. Although between all those cities you mentioned I’d pick Toronto, I always loved that place:tup:

I think after that “profile of a sociopath” link was posted, ric has started to shift his posts toward accommodating it.

super jokes

The show will never be over.

The world will cease to exist once there’s a Sask Thread that isn’t turned into Ric’s Personal Diary.

I just tried to keep it active, but in the end its the communties thread like it was always intended to be. Although it seems like the thread is keeping busy with a lot of different voices now so Im happy about that, I just hope more and more people keep posting and communicating, thats why its here for.

So I just played MK9 and damn the game is hype, the visuals and control handle perfectly and the presentation is great. This is also the E3 build so the retail copy will clearly be even more defined and polished. Right now I can see this being my alternative to SF4 and thanks to this game I finally got the bad taste of MVC3 out of my mouth.

So you pirated MK9?
