How many people are actully From Saskatoon? Think thats the most important thing to know.
This thread certainly is not dead, I’m saskatoon player here looking to try and build some community in saskatoon. Pm for my contact info if u guys wanna throw down sometime, I’m up for SF4,KOF,TEKKEN and basically anything fighting orientated…hope to talk to some of u guys soon.
I’m going to put a good effort into building a legitimate scene here, at least a viable enough number so that some actual competition can start happening. I’m the best 3s/HDR/SF4/Tekken player in town, I’m down to host so if any of u sask guys r browsing looking for some competition u know where to find me.PM me for contact details of course, 1 of the local video stores here is actually hosting a tourny this upcoming sat for SF4…this is a good enough time to start getting some shit going. Hope to see some new faces very soon, untill then ciao.
I’m from Saskatoon and would definately be up for some games sometime! I’ve been putting most of my time into SF4 lately so I wouldn’t be much of a challenge in any other game :wtf: It would be great if you could get somewhat of a scene going here so I’m hoping that works out. I heard about that tourney earlier today and I will be making sure to be there
You should hook up with the best Saskatchewan NormanJr. He hails from Regina.
Good shit I will, if u guys know anymore sask players plz feel free to tell me.I hope we can at least get up to 8 consistent players lol.
Add me on live for some games, I might not be able to get on for a couple weeks though as my joystick has a fucked up switch on one side.
^this
You should add ShinAkuma if you feel like being voilated by Akuma in SF4 :shake:
We got things going here in Regina so if you are in Regina and reading this hit us up.
Good for u guys getting a scene going there, hopfully some of that spark can some her in toon town. Add me to xbox live as well for some games in SF4 or HDR, any to the sask players…there is a tourny in sat at Hi-Tech so I look forward to seeing u guys there.

Wow the threads been revived!. Am From Sask and was just at highteck a few days ago and heard about this tourney. It makes me sad because i’ve been putting all my effort into Blazblue so i havent played SF4 in ages and i know if i went it just Wouldnt be fair i’d get beaten down. So ya am a Saskatoon player and if everyones playing SF4 am willing to switch back because hell i want local compeition. Great to see the thread back i’ll Following it very closey.
Sask players add me. GT:Kharrn
Ill send u my email Kharn, the tourny this sat was AMAZING. Not only did we have a turn out of 20 players…but most of them were pretty damn good lol. I got 3rd place with fei, and the 2nd and 1st place played a fucking good viper and rog. The sask scene is getting serious finally, I already got the contact info of the very best players at that tourny and we are going to host tournies on a weekly basis from now one…the sask scene is HERE.
Saying it’s HERE is somewhat of an overstatement. We had a tourney; very good turn out. Hope the next one has as good of a turnout. If that happened, then I would say the scene is HERE.
Im confident, we got 9 dudes willing to make this weekly…I think we at least got something good starting finally.
Whenever I can, I’ll play. Just need a heads-up since I work nights.

General Information
Introduction
These are friendly tournaments, and anyone’s welcome to come. We currently run tournaments for Super Smash Bros. Melee, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and Street Fighter IV, but we have many other fighting games on the side.
Entry Fee
$5-10
Depending on the amount of attendees, the entry fee will change. It will vary around nothing and $10.
Time
12:00PM to 10:00PM
Organization, friendlies, etc. will start around Noon. Smash should start around 1:00PM, and Street Fighter at 4:00. I can’t guarantee that we’ll stay to 10:00PM, but it’s a possibility. Also, ordering food is a possibility.
Location
Education Building (Student’s Lounge)
28 Campus Drive, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, S7N 0X1
From the main entrance, turn left and just walk down the hallway; you can’t miss it. From the back entrance, just follow the signs. If the lounge is taken, we’ll meet up there and find another room upstairs.
Contact
- Llumys: 1-306-262-6637, Llumys@hotmail.com (Smash)
- Red: 1-306-621-3234, Blitzmidfielder@hotmail.com (Smash)
- Rhiago: 1-306-227-6021, winter_lght@hotmail.com (Street Fighter)
You can contact either one of us with any questions regarding the tournament.
Anyway, onto tournament rules.
Venue Rules
- Please respect the people and objects around you. We’re using a public venue, and we’d be out of luck if we lost the privilege of using the lounge. Please be clean, don’t be loud, don’t do anything illegal, etc. If you want to fool around, there’s plenty of room outside the building. Also, the gear we’re using belongs to us, so please be careful.
Controller Rules
Bring your own controllers! We’ll have a few extra controllers, but it is strongly recommended that you bring your own. Also, never use someone else’s controller without asking for permission.
Prize Explanation
- 1st: 60%
- 2nd: 30%
- 3rd: 10%
If an entrance fee is included, the prize money will be split as mentioned.
Tournament Rules
Street Fighter & Co. Rules
- Console rules are applied. Otherwise, there are no other specific rules for Street Fighter, BlazBlue, etc. The games will be played with default settings. The following rules are for Smash.
Special Rules
- Items are set to off and none.
- Stalling is banned.
- Any glitch that would freeze the game or disallow a player from controlling their character is banned.
- If a pause significantly disrupts the match, the player who executed the match may lose the round.
- If there is a dispute regarding controller ports, the ports will be decided by rock-paper-scissors.
- If a sudden death occurs, the player who had the least amount of damage is declared the victor.
- If both players had the same amount of damage, a single stock match will be played to decide the victor of the round.
- If a sudden death occurs due to a suicidal move, the player who executed said move is declared the victor.
Doubles-Specific Rules
- Friendly is set to on.
- Sharing stocks in doubles is allowed.
- If there is a dispute regarding controller ports, the ports will be decided by rock-paper-scissors in a 1-2-2-1 fashion.
Bracket Explanation
- Players will be seeded randomly into a double-elimination tournament bracket. If we have an uneven number of participants, certain players will be automatically advanced in the bracket without penalty by way of a bye.
- Matches will be decided based on a best-of-3 games set, wherein the first player to win two games will advance into the winner’s bracket. Players entering the losing bracket are able to lose once more before being eliminated.
- Winners Finals, Losers Finals, and Grand Finals will be played on a best-of-5 games set, wherein the first player to win three games will be declared the victor.
Character and Stage Selection Rules
Officially, the character selection for the opening match should be done simultaneously (as per double-blind picks) so neither knows each other’s character beforehand. However, this rule is largely ignored in practicum. Nevertheless, all players reserve the right to force a double-blind pick if you’re really worried about it. To double-blind pick, both players tell someone their choices, then they select said characters.
A stage striking procedure will be used, following a 121 format, as follows. The lower ranked player will strike first, choosing a stage
from the neutrals list to be removed from consideration for the first game. The higher ranked player then chooses two stages to remove from consideration for the first game. The lower ranked player then eliminates one of the two remaining stages from consideration, and the first game is played on the last remaining stage.
The loser of the first game will ask the winner for a single stage they would like to ban. The loser must do so, or their counterpick is invalidated, and the counterpick process will be restarted. The loser may then choose a stage for the second game. The winner of the first game will now announce their character. Finally, the loser will announce their character and the second game will begin. This process is repeated for games 3 through 5, if necessary.
