I play stick since many years,i always use plain balltop…and i have never break one of it.
However my clear blue balltop(about 3 month),and my new clear white balltop(about 1 month),are already broken.

=\ sorry to see that. Ive been using that exact clear one since last june and mine hasn’t cracked. only thing i can think to ask is how hard you screwed it in when you installed it. Seems wierd that u manged to do it to both your clear balltops and that you did it rather quickly.
Bad batch?
Keep in mind that clear plastic is much more brittle and prone to breaking/cracking than opaque plastic.
Dumb thought, but those fractures don’t look like they even go all the way to the surface, so even if that HAD happened with an opaque balltop, you probably wouldn’t know.
Probably. I have a clear ball top that’s much more fucked up than the one that the OP pictured. It hasn’t broken yet but I imagine if I had left it in use for much longer that it would have.
Maybe I’ve screwed too hard, I’ll try a little less.
But if it don’t work,it’s a shame I find it so beautiful.
No, cause i ordered in two different shop with some interval time.
So you’re right guys, maybe i don’t know but all my opaque balltop are broken…i will also try a Seimitsu clear, but i don’t like bubble inside.
I was unscrewing my clear top from an ls-32 and it slipped of my hand and fell shaft height on to the stick’s panel. now crack. haha.
Last I checked, Paradise Arcade had some clear tops too, LED ready, but they are different size. Just an alternative.
Hey ,i have some Pardisearcade balltop ,i try but i prefer play with 35 mm.
Today i take my hammer and some balltop :
I destroyed the Seimitsu clear bubbletop too easily.
First layer of two Seimitsu opaque balltop, is also easy to break but the core is very solid and screwed part much larger than the clear’s balltop.
And i can’t finally succeeds to break the Sanwa Balltop, so I sawed in half.
The opaques Balltops are much stronger, and I think it better suited to rough players.
i love your breakdown on the whole matter, seems like the reason why opaque balls are tougher is because of the inner mold, while clear ones are just one single mold holding it together.
Some ballsy destructoporn in here…
I’ve had balltops crack, regardless of what type they are. Usually at where the threading is.
That said, this is the best thread I’ve seen on confirming findings.
Nice find, Ariesno ! You cracked open the balltop problem, I see (yeah I know…)
ive cracked 2 semeitsu bubble tops and 1 clear blue and 1 smoke sanwa balltops so far…
One Sanwa clear here so far… it looks like a Mercedez Benz insignia…
As stated above clear plastics are more prone to cracks than opaque plastics. Clear plastic by its very nature is brittle unless additives are included to make the plastic softer.
Often clear plastic tops is made from acrylic which is also known by the name of Plexy Glass for its glass like properties (including breakage).
Having a 2nd layer or mold helps reenforce the plastic as well, most opaque plastic ball tops have a inner layer to that adds another player of strength.
Different types and grades of plastic have different levels of strength.
I didn’t know the opaque ball tops have 2 layers to them. Nice research.
nice breakdown
Puns intended?
