San Francisco Area Crew Thread... you know who you are!

Right now we’re in flux, there are plenty of people who play in the Bay but our weekly meetup which was in Oakland is no more, so we’re trying to figure out a new solution. In the interim just stay posted to this thread as we try and figure things out and/or PM as you get closer to your trip.

P, I hear you regarding KS3, and see that you still want to keep playing/hosting games. Albert_c is the head honcho of KS2, and I don’t think it’s right to take the Keystone name without his blessing. He’s been doing big things himself, so I wouldn’t tread into that territory.

We can name a club anything we damn well want (or does it even need a name?). But you’re right in saying that the club will need some sort of clubhouse, or even some spots to play in tandem.

Other than the going over to your place or Hatebot’s, the only other option at this point is to have meetups at good ole SFSU every now and again. The only problem is the time slots available. Otherwise, someone else can step up and host some small gatherings.

Good point Mike, I wasn’t aware that Albert was planning on keeping KS going, and even more wasn’t thinking on stepping on toes just wanting to keep things alive here in SF. I’ll start looking into solutions to fill the gap and maybe will try and ping Albert to see if we can’t collaborate on some sort of plan. But thanks for the heads up.

HATEBOT I’m down to play at anytime during that window so I’ll stay posted for more details about what’s going on.

An idea just occured to me. Since we all don’t have space for large gatherings, why not just have 1 or 2 people over every once in a while on rotation throughout the week. You’ll still see a lot of different skill sets, and sessions will be more in-depth.

Shit, I would have one or two of you guys over at my pad in San Bruno once I get my room cleaned up.

Just an FYI, people will be down at SJSU playing SF4 around 2 PM today so come down if you can make it

I think that’s a good call, I’m meeting up with some friends at their place in SF tonight to play a little KOF (which I hope just turns into SF) but I’ll bring the idea up to them and see if they wouldn’t mind getting involved to donate space as well. I’ll ask around and update the thread as necessary.

I wish I could but I’m a workin’ stiff downtown so I can only play at like 6:30+ pm style :-/

I really wish I were able to have more than one or two people over at my place because I’d love to host. I’d really hate to lose some of the momentum we had going with KSIII but things change.

Anyway, I’m always keeping my eye out for possible locations.

They didn’t work! I was so ashamed! Actually, I talked to Seth about the tourney. I was like hey, the poster said 2 out of 3. He laughed and said, “It says that EVERY year.”

Anyway, hay guyz, I’m trying to convince ILLiterate to go to West Coast Warzone down in LA on Labor Day weekend, since he bailed out on EVO and swore he’d go to the next big SoCal tourney.

If he asks his mom real nice and can play that weekend, would anyone else from NorCal be interested in coming along?

I’m interested in going down since I need some tourney practice, and also wouldn’t mind getting in some nice weather heading down to SoCal. Let me double check my schedule (aka talk to the woman who keeps said schedule) and then I’ll let you know.

Ugh, I may be delayed. My TV seems to have picked now to explode to death. I’ll update as necessary.

Hey guys,

I’m not ready to reopen my doors to everyone just yet, but if you know me (IE: went to KSL), you’re welcome to my place this Saturday afternoon (12PM-Whenever) for a session.

The Egret II isn’t hooked up yet, but I should have 3 setups anyway. Shoot me a PM if you’re in the know. Thaaaanks

FYI: I’m now located in Foster City.

hey this might be short notice, but i’ll but in the socal area for about ten days from the 2nd until about the 12th. i’m looking for people to play street fighter with during that time for a day and this looked like the place to post. are there any regular weeklys or get togethers in the area?

I’m not sure what thread I mentioned it in but I don’t think it would be that crazy of an idea to get a few people together to help contribute to rent out a small commercial space each month, and then anyone else that shows up to practice and compete etc. could chip in donations toward the place too. I’ll check craigslist but something like 500-800 a month or something split between multiple people wouldn’t be that bad. We would need one or a couple responsible people to take charge of opening the place up on meetup nights, and make sure everyone that came respects the space. What do you guys think of that idea?

Any casuals going on this weekend?

Anyone that wants to use the KS name has to come down to KS2 headquarters and get shit ass drunk and befriend everyone. Thems the rules.

Good looking out thrust.

Moving up to SF in about 5 months, and will most likely be totally down to host once I do.

And the rules don’t phase me at all

This is something that I was seriously considering after I had to stop doing KSL, along with gh and a few others. Then I got too caught up with work to try and setup something like this, which is the entire reason why I had to stop KSL in the first place

Doing something like this is a serious commitment, and there’s so much to think about beyond getting some hole-in-the-wall to play Street Fighter in. Depending on the number of people, you also have to think about how much equipment you’ll need, which can then lead to insurance depending on the situation. Electricity bills and whatnot come into play and if you’re like us and were looking to setup a small TV studio for Internet streams, you got Comcast to think about as well.

Location is also tough because we’re a bunch of loud, obnoxious jerks who also like to drink, so finding a spot where you won’t bother people is difficult.

It’s a lot a lot a lot to think about. I know there are some others looking to rent out a monthly spot, so hopefully there’s a solution soon :wonder:

I accept your challenge!
