How good is SDmods for PS3 YLOD? Cause I see PS3’s either work for the most, acouple months to… the shortest 20mins… I have a first gen PS3 60Gb, and It hasnt crapped out on me yet… besides having fan failure from dust jamming it (which I fixed) Cody and I are the only ones I know of that have survived the wave of YLOD’s… I just think its a matter of time lol.

I got a 80gb that I’m afraid might yellow light soon. I wanna sell it and just buy a slim. But I don’t wanna lose my backwards compatibility and my 4 usb slots. Those slots for memory cards I don’t care too much for though.

i put my xbox mobo in the oven (covering everything in foil and a t-shirt, except graphics/cpu chips) at 322F for 10 minutes to reflow the solder under the graphics chip and then did x-clamp fix. worked fine, but i had to do it like every month

then i got lazy one time putting it in the oven without covering everything properly and blew up some of the capacitors hahaha

Kinda… I mean, a $300-$600 investment should last long… but then again, My fat PS2 back then stopped reading games and I had to buy a slim cause my dad couldnt get his Gran Turismo fix… Also, unlike Microsoft (since they pretty much owe it to their customers due to the 360’s 50% failure rate.) we have to pay like $150 to get it “fixed” (getting a refurb that most likely has 2 less usb ports, no backwards compatibility, and no card reader… I like these about the 60Gb system) which to first gen adopters, kinda blows. I’m enjoying my system but, It just looks like death of it is imminent since many have gone down…

Weird how theres alot of the YLOD’s going about when the new PS3 slim came out…

You have to specify to sony that you have a 60 gig or else they will ship you some random refurb shit. Microsoft and Sony have been repacking refurbed systems and selling them through Gamestop (as refurbished) for a while.
