I’m trying to do some casuals and possibly tournament play, but I dont want to drive all the way down to SD. I’ve looked around on SRK, but I haven’t found any North County places to play. Anyone know any good places or am I going to have to drive to SD to play. I’ve heard the mall in Carlsbad used to have a SF4 machine but they got rid of it :|.
Hey, I also live in Carlsbad and have been looking around the srk forums to try to find players in north county. So far I’ve been unsuccessful, but at least now I know I’m not the only one up here looking for some players. You should add me, at the very least we would be able to get some matches in on xbl, and since we’re both local the connection would be good.
there’s plenty of people in north county and just recently Steinmania (SeikuRyu) started hosting sessions in i think its del mar or somewhere close to the 56.
there are a lot of other north county players but none of which are hosting sessions but if you’re serious about leveling up and finding competition you might have to suck it up and drive the 30 minutes to comic odyssey on mondays/wednesdays or TTF on fridays.
post in the SD thread and get to know people but as far as i know those are your options. if you aren’t willing to drive down at least post in the SD thread to get some online games in.
You guys are a myth…Figments of my imagination!
I never heard of Carlsbad Mall having SF4 or any arcade machine since the good ol Marvel 1 days. If you could confirm this that’d be great.
If you ever happen to hold a gathering/meetup, lemme know. I’m not the biggest fan of SF4 but I enjoy the comp. Nice to see more North’Northern SD peeps.
North as in Esco/Oceanside/Carlsbad? 760? Some of us are stuck right in the middle 858 Mira Mesa to Rancho Bernardo lol, been trying to find more local stuff also.
ttf and box is all sd will ever have
I live in Escondido, if any of you guys are close to their.
The Esco/Vista/Carlsbad scene is pretty dead up here. Last time I was at the mall in Carlsbad, there was an SFIV machine, but it wasn’t doing too well. If you’re lucky, there’s sometimes people playing 3rd Strike at the Vista Boomers. If you ask ahead of time, people will go. Usually the best time to check is Thursday afternoons.
If you want good SFIV practice offline, you gotta drive down to SD unless someone up here decides to host.
Do you know if the Oceanside Boomer’s has any Street Fighter games in it? Before it closed the one in Escondido used to have a Street Fighter 2(World Warrior I think) machine in it. The Cici’s Pizza in Escondido used to have a Marvel vs. Capcom 1 machine in it but that is gone now to. There are a few laundry mats in Escondido that have a few fighting games in them, two of them are close to my house, one has SF2WW, the other has Marvel vs Capcom 1, so if you guys REALLY wanted to I guess we could meet at a laundry mat and have a ghetto tournament. There is a Chuck E Cheese in Escondido, last time I went was mid 2008 for a Birthday party, while there I didn’t see any fighting games at the time, I guess I could call them and check if anyone wanted me to. The main library in Escondido used to host Super Smash Bros. Melee tournaments, so we could use that as a possible venue. The Smash scene in Escondido has a very feint pulse if anyone is interested, I am new to Street Fighter but from what I can tell it is even worse off. That is about all I know for Escondido.
Del Mar street fighter reporting in.
There’s Street Figher Alpha 3, SVC Chaos, Marvel vs Capcom, and 3rd Strike. Like in my last post, best time to check is Thursday afternoons.
I will check it out some time thanks.
I’m acutally suprised about this. I’m going to check this out next Thursday (1/14) at 12 if anyone else wants to come. I’m a bigger fan of the Street Fighter series so look for me on the A3 and 3s machines.
You are going to the one in Oceanside right? I might come depending on my schedule. I really only have experience in Super Turbo, SF2WW, and SF4, but I will may come down and play some friendlies.
i think they open at 12 so i doubt anyone will be there. the best time to play there on thursday is around 6, but to be honest i dont think anyone has been there lately. id say myself and about 4 other people play. id be down to play 3s on thursday but i work until 9 every tuesday - thursday. i’ll go play tomorrow or friday if people post that they’re going.
Oceanside? I thought it was Vista. I think we are talking about the same one though off the 78. I actually just picked up 3s recently so im not so hot at it. SF4 is my game though.
I can go anyday, and you are right they do open at 12. I just want somone to host some casuals somewhere for SF4. I think it’s bigger than anyother game around here.
There’s a few Vista/Esco guys that play Tekken 6 [myself included] but if you host casuals up here you’ll get people who are down
i’ll host for 3s. if anyone is ever down for 3s let me know
