Yeah, I agree. The way the game’s designed, you’re less likely to get screwed over by non-good connections than you are in, say, SF or GG. Besides, I’m not sure how feasible it would be to upgrade the netcode, as retrofitting something with rollback is a lot harder than implementing rollback from the get-go.
It’s mostly the fabled PC version I’m bitching about. :<
Huh, looks like Mina may be getting a bit of a playstyle change up which I can’t say I’m sad about. Evo next year will be Mina mirrors all day long if she plays like she does in 5Sp.
Switch port coming Super Tuesday too! Dunno why but I’m excited for it, it’ll be fun to play this game a bit on the go and lab stuff. I even got one of those Ethernet port adapters for the dock, but hopefully not everyone is playing on wifi.
People thinking it’s the end of the world for Ukyo because they made it so his 6D slide kick doesn’t knock down now. People have a really limited idea of what Ukyo’s strengths really are beyond firebirding the opponent to death.
if the oki game was like SS1/2 then i could see why it would be a big deal. maybe it’s been too long since i played samsho7 but i don’t recall knockdown being that good. as long as Ukyo has advantage still then it should be ok.
I had a long discussion with an otherwise fairly good FG player about Ukyos archetype, and he remained adamant that Ukyo was a 50-50-character, not a punishment character. I pointed out how shitty the risk reward for his actual 50-50 is compared to his insanely good punishment, but he still insisted that “it’s all about conditioning”. Sigh.
Though to be fair, 6K was one of the better ways to induce mistakes you could punish because of how annoying that move can be, so it’s definitely a nerf.
He’s both. Part of the problem here is bad ukyo players not really understanding what his strengths are and thinking that all he’s about is knockdown>firebird ad infinitum. His slashes are so fast that he can punish stuff even on hit, which means he can eke out damage in situations where other characters can’t. There are great Ukyo players in 5sp who rarely ever tsubame because they play him more as a punish character and with sitting on a life lead being more effective in SS7 than it is in 5Sp it makes that style of play even better.
Anyway, 6D means that with good spacing he now has a good 50/50 setup, and theres always 66C or 66B for punishes too.
A friend of mine made me reconsider buying this. I’m glad it doesn’t disappoint. It’s so smooth in comparison to the rest of the 2.5D games.
I haven’t been to tournaments specifically for FG’s in about 18 years, so there’s one in Kenner Louisiana that supports this game (I’m from New Orleans). It should be a good time. Either way, I’m going to buy more new fighters and hope I can win some money.
