Genjuro
This is a good first chracter
Because he has pretty much everything a better fireball and hoahmaru a better dp than him to a command grab a rekke that is used to punish and left right mix ups and a good super ,solid normals
and can be used in different ways
Fireball
His fireball admittingly in this era of video games aint gonna be like it was in 5 or ss 3 were it was broken
But you still have to be careful because it’s kinda high and kinda big making it hard to jump over, also when you hold the button it bounces up and comes down, i dont know if it’s in 2019 version i’ve not seen it yet, but even if it dont it’s still a decent projectile with decent recovery, back in in ss 4 5 and 5sp you could set up all sorts of unblockables with the bouncing card
It used to be decent enough to zone with to, even projectile DP in they jump, but i doubt it will be that good now
His DP
His DP is funny, because in the past its hitbox was wacky and had little if any priority
But as a trade off the hitbox is massive, you just gotta do it early as an anti air, you cannot do it deep because you’ll get stuffed all the time
The damage is kinda shitty but it mkes people not jump especially ones with shitty slow readable jumps like ukyo kyoshiro tam tam ect ect
Command grab
It’s basically what it says, better to have one than not have one imo in SS, the damage since 4 has been on the low side, but it’s because of the ultilty
Rekka
you will destroy low level players with this basically light light light is a combo tool only, once you start using other buttons thefoe with have to block the other way, hell you can catch even mid level people or ones with bad reactions out with this crap, all hits are unsafe and i think when you use say light rekka middle light the middle wont combo because that’s the mix up rekka.
RDP+slash
trash move always has been only thing it’s good for is chip, might be a safe way to chip i cant remember i dont think it is though, also catches people who forget ss 4 5 5sp has not absolute guard so people try jump or move to early and get caught by it
super
I dont know about in 2019 but this super used to be pretty good i think though ive seen it stuffed in 2019, used to be safeish on block one of the better WTF
Normals
Genjuro has good normals, granted he does not have the heavy slash of haohmaru or the down middle of kyoshiro but they complement his moveset very well
Standing heavy kinda slow kinda ass range, but you still tag people with it
standing middle crappy range but it’s pretty fast
his sweep was ok i can’t remember if it was a low or a mid, but it was cancelable which was handy, in ss2 this thing was pretty beastly and could anti air to
standing light slash was always pretty good, fast and with a good hitbox but it’s a light slash just used for annoyance really
Jumping heavy slash was good the straight up vertical one was godly since ss2 all the way up to 5sp
jumping middle is a decent air to air but gets dwarfed by jumping heavy
Overall genjuro has many decent tools, while he might not excel in some of them ie pokes damage mix ups he was always pretty decent to good only game i remember him being straight up crap in was tenka
this is all only my personal opinions from my expirences
Because developing and optimising for multiple platforms is hard and takes time and money. This isn’t just telling the compiler to compile for PC, there’s a ton of things to do to optimize for the platform.

looking good so far. there’s little things that annoy me here and there, but overall this looks like it sticks to its roots. i’m really disappointed about a Q4 or later PC release. i might buy a used ps4 so i can play it sooner since most of my sticks are ps4 compatible.
So from what I’m seeing, each character has a hidden super that does like 70%, can be used once per match and isn’t tied to meter.

I’m waiting to see how this pans out, but an 80% damage move that requires no resources sounds pretty dumb, especially if there are ways to combo into it.
From the footage so far, it scales heavily whenever it’s comboed into, the only thing which does so so far is throw.

She is a poke heavy character that can be very frustrating to fight .
Ever since 4 she has has good zoning tools
Her fireball is probably the best in the game, it’s pretty large you’ll catch people with this jumping all day plus it’s safer on block that some like says jubei galfords zankuros, as a trade off you cannot combo into it, but it’s so much better than the characters fireball I mentioned
You also used to get a leaping pursuit if you were good which is solid damage
Her dp is solid better than say hoahmarus because it does what you expect it to do and I would say better than even Genjuro because he don’t have the weird hit box or lack of priority issues
Splash fount is a great round finisher because it chips heavy and the light version is hard to punish for some characters
Qcb plus slash is a good move at the right distance, very hard to punish
Her super is alright nothing special ok reversal
Her normals are good, all about standing b crouching b. And the same for A
Good solid pokes, but with great buttons comes predictably and she is very susceptible to being deflected
Her heavy slash’s post ss2 are pretty average decent but slow, nothing like 2
Her jumping heavy is one of the few jumping cross ups that can be done mid screen without weird cross ups or strange situations, it’s a straight up cross up hits all the time
Her jumping b is a great air to air one of the best
Mostly you’re gonna be spamming fireball, staying around full and midscreen jumping b in air to air standing a and b them to annoy them
One thing I will say is that in a game like 2 4 and 2019 there’s no kenki gauge so you can spam standing b and a without the kenki gauge making them to weak , without kenki your slashes do the same damage every time which makes her poke game pretty strong, don’t get me wrong in 5sp she’s good great even but having a system like kenki kinda reins her in a little
She’s a solid character great even but she has a couple of problems usually revolving around match up situations, I found in 5sp playing against a good Mina was pretty hard, she also has trouble when she goes behind in life because she has a hard time opening up defensive players, her mix up game is not very good so if you get behind too much it becomes a challenge to get back into the match
Somebody like her and kyoshiro both have this issue but I’d say kyoshiro in 5sp had better come back potential with running b being a fast overhead plus his excellent universal overhead and the frog being a low, her mix ups are easier to deal with and not as damaging
Anyway hope you guys enjoy the game, I’ve waited since 1996 for a new as game I’m pretty pumped
She’s been solid at zoning with pokes since 2. Some matchups against her can be such a chore.
Charlotte sounds like the sort of character I usually like playing. Genjuro too, to some extent. I’ll give both a go, probably.
