Samurai Shodown Sen aka Edge of Destiny

At this rate you should offer pocket money supply 4 life for anyone to play it online with you.

meh, I recently played with some dude

Wtf!?

Man this game is a shame, I played it in the Arcade and remember it being kinda fun. But the X-box one felt all crappy. Slow and its like moves don’t work too well. A real shame been a SS fan from the start and this is basically the KOF 12 of SS. A real let down, all those cool looking characters going to waste. I hope they come back in 2d some day, come one SNK, this is your last chance. 1 more shitty game and I’m:china: done!

Could somebody explain how pull a maneuver of wan fu?

If was like HS+VS [ HS - VS-K-SP]

I don’t know how pull it and what does it mean []

What kind of maneuver is that, theres no such stuff as “AB [A-B-C-R]” in his movelist. If you mean simultaneous ABCR press, its universal command for unblockable; and AB is a strong horisontal slash

I mispelled the comand

It was the pulverizing punch de wan fu

The comand is 4 HS [4 buttons I can’t recall]

Wan-fu has stuff like
??+B = Wan-fu’s Head Attack (???, wanfuu atama geki)
_when it hits, BC = Wan-fu’s Typical Boisterous Fist Dance (???, wanfuu tekiken ranbu)

?+A = Violent Destructive Rage Roaring Sweep Slash (???, rekkaidou goufutsu zan)
_after it, when you are raged, A~B~C~[N]~ABC = Wan-fu’s Typical Enraged Boisterous Dance (???, wanfuu tekidou ranbu)

I suggest checking my unfinished Sen guide here http://samuraishodown.kilu.de/dojo.htm

I downloaded the rar and only appear pictures

Unzip the guide and then open htm file with your browser

Thanks now works

Hanzo teleport comeback into 90% combo~tickthrow

The dude only needs to appear in right place in right moment :stuck_out_tongue:

EDIT: and also a teleport into 90% combo without tickthrow

I bet these can take all 100% of health as well. And also, that teleport can also be triggered via his Weapon Deflect.

Hanzo flowchart then looks as follows:
Catch opponent’s attack with Weapon Deflect -> triggers teleport behind back -> kick loop in the back ->
-> a)they fail to block it and die
-> b)they block it somehow and after that they eat Shrike Drop -Revised- (50% damage) as a tickthrow

And even while kick loop is not blocked, it can lead in Shrike Drop -Revised- at any moment

I have to wonder what XSeed or whomever designed the game was thinking when they classified Takechiyo as a Power-type character. He’s one of the fastest movers in the game and has the fastest attacks overall. He should’ve been classified as a Speed-type.

xseed published the game in north america, snk payed k2(?) to design the game(?).

Takechiyo is a bokken user, bokken is a weapon that relies on its weight and powerful impact to crush bones, skulls, as well as low-quality swords. He is also a “successor” to Haohmaru and another Musashi spin-off character, and Haohmaru is Power type.

As for the fastest movers, I would say everyone in game moves exteremely fast, Wan-fu swings his sword like 5 times faster he ever could in previous games, same for Garros, I dont even talk about how they walk and do other stuff. When Wan-Fu begins his ass jumps he moves like a bullet, lol.

Since many people seemingly cant find online Sen competition and are scattered on different forums, I created a centralized gamertag thread for Sen players, to be used as reference:
http://spirits.kaillera.ru/viewtopic.php?f=57&t=10899&p=15137#p15137

If you play Sen, post your gamertags and I will add them. I will also post the links to this thread on several forums where Sen players can be found.

I read this many times now and i have to say - it’s wrong.

Neither Wan Fu nor Garros are as fast as other characters. Their basic 2 and 3-hit combos have a huge startup time during which you can even grab if you see them coming.

Seriously guys, play the game before you post. Don’t judge it by videos. You have to ‘feel’ it.

Also, the game is not about ‘mashing one fast combo all the time’. Sure, it’s hard to keep several characters away (esp. Charlotte, Killian and the Rurus), but with good timing, you can do it. And at mid- or long range it really gets interesting. Many of the thousand moves per character become useful and it plays very tactical at this point.

I like to refer to Sen as the ‘Virtua Fighter’ of 3D sword fighting games, Soul Calibur would be Tekken.

People are playing this?

…seriously?

You know, I wasn’t a huge fan of Samurai Shodown, but I appreciated what SNK did with its combat, which was all about waiting for openings and striking for heavy damage, rather than racking up combos a plenty. However, with each sequel, that quality began to diminish, until reaching its nadir with Samurai Shodown Sen. It doesn’t play anything like the previous Samurai Shodown games, being more akin to Soul Calibur if all the characters had splints tied to their limbs. I can’t imagine anyone willingly playing this. I feel sorry for the playtesters at SNK who had to play this.

^ No use speaking truth to these people about a obviously lackluster game. If they have fun with it tho, can’t argue.

All I find interesting is that if the SS license and characters weren’t shamelessly slapped onto this weak title, none of these guys would be giving it the time of day.

As for the dumb comment about this game being the “VF of 3D sword fighting games”…lmao.

This game is worse than lackluster, but its hilarious(in five minute bursts) to get people in brainless one button juggles. Its great when you’re drunk.

Yea, Tech Romancer, my buddy. Everything that doesn’t match your opinion is ‘lmao’. I doubt that you even touched Sen once.

The main problem of this game is its bad reputation. Everyone who plays this is more than sceptical. And if you judge it at the first view, yes, it seems as bad as it’s reputation.

As i started off, i wasn’t even able to beat the first CPU-opponent and thought ‘Fuck it, what is this shit?!’. But i gave it another chance and really LEARNED it. And now i go through all opponents (except Golba) like a hot knife through butter. Versus is another story, tough. Those Japanese are good.

This game IS deep to an extent. Not as deep (and overall not as good) as Virtua Fighter (OF COURSE that was no 1:1 comparision, i just wanted to show the differences to Soul Calibur; godamn, use your brain), but deep enough that you can get better with training. It’s NOT just button mashing. Altough if 2 (drunk) noobs play the game, it can be, of course.

So, yea. This game is not a Samurai Shodown. Agreed. I like the classic 2D games far more as well. Also, it’s not a very good game. Agreed. But it’s not a bad game, either.

And i bet 90% of you guys who complain day in, day out, haven’t played it for more than 5 minutes (or at all).
