For all 5 of you in here that play SamSho4, I found a funny SamSho4 CMV from god knows where and uploaded it.

Short, and kinda silly, but I think it sums up the 4th installment quite well for what it’s worth. :stuck_out_tongue:

Combo counter in SS4 is broken and will count hits in a combo even if opponent can actually block between them. That is exactly what your video sums up. There are also these combos which use Combo Slashes feeding from Rage Explosion gauge (which by itself is initiated by Rage Explosion that can be used once in a match), but since you need to have at almost zero life to have full Rage Explosion gauge to do several of these, plus you need a good timing to press each ABC at specific moment of time without pressing it 4th time which will empty Rage Explosion Gague at once, the possibility of these in real match is around zero, too.

Reminds me of SS5sp video where Haohmaru with full Kenki Gauge (rare) after Rage Explosion (rare) deflects Charlotte’s slash attack (risky and rarely used), disarming her by it (small chance too because usual Charlotte wont poke with strong attacks, and she wont be disarmed by deflecting her weaker ones) thus lowering her defense, and then does his Steel Slash Flash (strong but extremely risky, and very rare sight to be done on reaction after deflect in actual match) and kills her in one hit. Possibility of all these events at once was like 0.001% but when guys on russian fighting forum saw it (and they didnt liked SS serie much before) they immediately said their “verdict” that this serie is trash and complete bullshit and why people waste their time on it instead of playing godly hand-to-hand fighting games :lame:

haha, woooooow, you took that the wrong way dude. I think you don’t understand the point of combo videos, and that’s showcasing wacky, situational stuff. Also, in no way was I taking a stab at your favorite series. For god sakes, I played VSP on 2DF before my router exploded. No need to get butthurt. :lame:

The point of combo videos is to showcase combos, which are sequences of attacks that cannot be blocked after the first hit; so I pointed out that some of sequences shown werent true combos, for the sake of new/ignorant people that may take that video seriously. I also explained the reason and even wrote an example of such wrong reaction, describing the similar situation on another forum. So relax

How does this play on PS3? I picked up the Street Fighter Alpha collection but it plays a little weird at times on PS3.

Why the hell can’t I slice anyone in half in SS 1 & 2 in this compilation? I’ve heard that this only happens in Vs. mode. I even played both of them on Gametap & they have everything uncensored, even in one player mode. It must be a bad glitch or something.

Indeed. Even though SS1 is the original & is good, it feels like a weaker SS2, SS3 feels like a weaker SS4, & SS6 is like a second SSVS (with even more characters, but without the blood & fatalities.) It’s good, though.

Oh, yeah, & SS5 sucks in comparison to SSVS.

As I heard, in this compilation they removed killing slashes from 1P mode, and removed bonus items (falling from slashed in half opponent for bonus points) altogether

So I don’t feel like reading through. Verdict on accuracy for this game is what? (compared to NeoGeo)

I know this thread is about SSA but I figured it wasn’t necessary to make another thread for this question. Does anyone play SS5 on live still?

Since SS5sp is available online (and it has more characters, more violence and no balance issues) I doubt someone would want to play SS5 instead; if only to look at other than in SS5sp arenas

And it has more music.

But yeah, the only advantage SSV vannila has over SSVSp is aesthetics and presentation.

although many ingame character artworks for SS5 are whacked, I mean SS4 ones are stylized, SS5sp are stylized, but SS5 look bad, just look at nakoruru/rimururu there

A small announcement
-Spirits Society forum address is changed from http://forum.int13.ru to easier to remember http://spirits.kaillera.ru
-Although one can care less because forums are now also accessible from http://www.samurai-shodown.com (just click on “Forums” button).
-After you log in, the “return to index page” wont work properly (it will be fixed after few days), so you must click on “Board Index” instead to get to forums.
-The forums themselves are in process of splitting into english-only and russian-only sections, so no more mixed language topics. I managed to make structure as compact as possible.
-Because of difficulties of splitting SS5sp character topics I decided to get proper japanese readings and proper translation of characters’ movenames once and for all, for players to use in future as reference material when referring to this or that move in their character tips and guides. Thats why now I collate my character movelists translations with this SNK document.

is the monkey in ss5sp?

No, he’s banned.

Updated site with more info and links in archived versions of English Community SItes in SS Network section (mostly valuable for samuraispirits.net which is nowadays screwed by bugs, hacks (causing big number of lost threads), offtopic and restricted forum access); added 2DF button to the site, as well as a hit counter.

Samuraispirits.net, was that vansibel’s site? Also known as Heavenly Spirits. And if it was, it’s pretty much dead, and I take it he’s pretty much done with it as well?
And I see the other site he has, which is mostly (or is) about SS4, is still there…
