im gonna assume this search parameter doesnt work in SSF4AE…i’ve played like 5 games in a row alreaddy and run into people with like 2500+ pp everytime.

With any match making system, the game has to figure out where you are by placing you with random players. After a while it starts to balance out.
as for my experience, if you were to search for users based on skill level using the point system, if you were just starting out you would never find a partner lol ive RARELY seen people under 1k points. they are out there, but the majority is veteran players from what ive experienced personally.

All the super scrubs quit.
They’re just normal scrubs now. (like me)
with the level of skill required to compete at any level, and the weeks, months, even years of practice needed to become a “good” player, its no wonder there is nothing left for newcomers… few have the fortitude to come into something this brutal so late in the game. you have to be comfortable with getting your ass handed to you over, and over, and over, and over… and in the end after several weeks of practicing, buying a stick to improve your game, learning the stick and getting spectacular with your execution in comparison to how you were before, you go back online only to find out the leaps and bounds you made in training are counting for little, if not nothing, as you are still getting pounded in ranked matches… its fucking brutal lol
lol this is EXACTLY what im going through right now. Even down to buying the stick part. I didn’t buy the stick for SF but instead for marvel but I’ve just been playing alot of street fighter lately. Maining Sakura doesn’t help against all the Yun’s and Fei’s either…but yeah it’s tough compared to marvel and honestly I’d rather be better at this game than be better at marvel.
Warlock dropped some knowledge.
Same skill is decent but you will get the random guys in there that are just way above your level. Think of them as opportunities to really push yourself. As an aside, whenever I do get someone of a greater skill than I am it is never a common character but a T.Hawk, or Sim which I rarely run into.
I’m still trying to understand how you choose same skill and you get an opponent with 5000+PP and ranked in the top 5 of a character and your PP is under 2000.
I dont think the game really works properly in regards to matchups. Its the same reason I think that despite the fact that there may be 5000 games going on in your local regional area that would normally give you full bars all the way down the search screen, for some reason you end up seeing people from all over the country, sometimes even the world, and those full bar matches are replaced with reds or yellows instead. if the game cant feed you a list of nothing but good quality matches which is something easily measurable, matching people up with similarly skilled opponents will be near impossible…
I know my opinion counts for little, but i would suggest not worrying about people in your skill level. If the match is easily won, what benefit is there? Only by fighting people better than you will you get better. For me, the fun is in the challenge. Its when games stop challenging me and i feel like ive learned all there is to learn that games become boring.
I can see that in endless or something but when my points are on the line and I get someone who looks like they could enter EVO and do well, that’s a problem.

Well if your points are ‘on the line’ then you have to have a good look into where your priorities lie.
Hopefully not online.
Pun intended.
The game is just picking from the pool of who’s available, and then trying to lean its average selection towards whatever skill setting that you’ve chosen. It will still give you a pretty wide spread of opponents.
Personally, I wish they had included the “Good Connection” filter option. I think that one would be pretty fun.
Yeah but are you aware of how many users out there start new usernames to reset their PP ratings so they can troll noobs and make them crap themselves with questions like “wtf just happened to me?” lol i know the first time i went up against someone with like 200PP i was thinking to myself “dude… you just messed up big time…” i had already been practicing a bit and had most of the basics down, thought i could trump someone so noobish. then i got spanked by what must have been a B rating player or higher in the sense that it seemed like my body never hit the ground. once he got his first hit off it was just sitting there watching an exhibition of combo execution. i think the entire match lasted 20 seconds lol
I think if you are looking to find “even” matchups to rank up on, you are not going to find it, and even if you did you would just be cheating yourself. Focusing on PP is an added bonus to the game but i dont consider it to be worth the time. Play to win, play to be good, and if the PP comes then it comes. If it doesnt, it doesnt. If you arent getting those points, then you, like me, have a lot more to worry about then trying to prove you are good with an excess of rank points… we suck currently and that is a much bigger problem than PP. What happens if you get 10k PP and still get stomped all the time? wont matter what your rating is, and your rating will sink like the Titanic in one night. Try to look at those losses for what they are… proof that you still have much improvement to do. In all honesty I havent met more than a handfull of really crappy players online. Most everyone that still plays this game is at least at a true intermediate level and have been playing for at least a few years. Going to be hard to beat that with “general” knowledge and “a little bit” of skill.
yeah but then people would be at a loss for why they could never find games lol
