Sam Sho V SP

That is the standard for online play, though if it got put on GGPO the standard would likely move to that. And yes, there are some slight presentation differences.

why mame? it emulates neo pretty shitty

hoahmaru is maybe the most basic character in any fighting game, i ushually tell most poeple that are just learning ss5 to use hoahmaru. But dont let that make you think he is not good cause he is .

his standing AB(hard slash) is devistating, in samsho5 pretty much any hard slash blocked can be returned with a hard slash before you can block. And expecially hoahmarus cause it comes out very fast and has good range. But hoahmaru’s hard slash missed is his full hit bar gone.

some BNB combo’s and set ups with hoahmaru

standing or running medium slash- cancel into uppercut any slash

Down hard slash- cancel into reverse uppercut

down kick- rush cd grab

standing or running medium -cancel into super

down hard slash- cancel into super

quarter circle forward any slash- (ounce tornado drops them) up b+c

running kick- down b+c

quarter circle forward kick (fient tornado)- rush cd grab

standing med slash is good poke

In ss5 the less open a attack leaves you the better expecially vs very good poeple. SO using weak attacks like running kick or light slash may seem useless but vs some one good you have to take any type of hit you can get.

Also with hoahmaru the first thing you need to learn is what attacks at what distance can be counterd by his standing hard slash. It actully wont take long.

since i started playing ss5 online people always used mame 32 .64 i always assumed it was the best. Honestly nothing plays ss5 better than my x box or an arcade machine that i can find.

I tried kawaks and its worste than mame, i tried fba and its glitchy on my comp.

mame 32,64 is pretty accurate besides acouple things slow the game down, rimi’s super, rimi s uppercut acouple other things i cant remember.

mike for p2p people moved to nfba, it doesnt have any input lag ala GGPO

edit: seriously just delete mame it sucks unless you wanna play a non-cps 1/2/3 or neo geo game

In case people don’t know, you can perform Kusaregedo’s command grab on the ground:

f,b,d,:snkc:~u

Yep, it’s a kara, so you have to hit up immediately after C.

lucky somebody else asked for such help, it’s a bit of a fair old read but it contains all the info you really need for zankuro, it’s more or less at the bottem of the page

Also i can use genjuro so if you want me to do the same, just ask, i’m not the greatest ss5sp out there but i do ok, i’ve played god2.0 and that fella from mxx16akuma sorry i got your name wrong i was mr_geese on kairella so they can vouch for me being semi decent at least

Also guys heavenlyspirits has quite a bit of info for SSVSP, thats where I get my info from…

 yeah thats pretty much why i am not going into detail its like dejavu

Also virtua leon did you mean you played me? or some one named m216akuma. I have seen some dude with that name but he is not me. Also i am pretty sure i have played you on kawaks about 1 or 2 years ago. Im not a big fan of reps cause i always have bad delay and for some reason can never win grab in that server.

I second this, CRAZY amount of tournament/high-level videos of thie game on Youtube. I’m not in any position to provide research, but it seems this game is hella popular in Japan.

Mike has a really crappy comp- unsure how well nfba would work for that. I need to get back into the groove of playing this. I am going to promote this locally if I can when it comes out- it deserves recognition.

Those youtube vids are a good example of the diversity of the game- of all the good 2d fighters- I think SSVSP allows for the most diversity in play- you have rushdowners, pokers, turtles, projectile whores, grapplers, trick people- there is someone for everyone, except the mad combo folks (and even there a few really crazy combos exist, but are real situational)

I really think it would go over well on GGPO, since the ST crowd would appreciate the style of the game.

Any tips for Gedo?

I know he has some pretty good normals (cr.A, s.A, s.B), his command grab is beastly (thanks for that tip Josh, btw!) and that his vomit can be a good turtling tool, but is there anything else I should take into account? What’s his basic strategy? I just turtle/poke a lot and go for the occassional command grab, but I’m fairly new to this game so I don’t know how he should be played.

well to me gedo is best person in the game hands down, some things that are really good about him.

down ab(anti air, anti rush) this move holds good priority even if not used as anti air.

forward kick(anti air) pretty much unstoppable but it doesnt take much also it hits as overhead but its kinda slow, its best used as anti air.

down forward special button(D) heritic brand(anti air, anti rush, anti projectile, anti every thing) you need to master this. kusgedo’s down forward special button has huge amount of invincibilty. Pretty much if timed right it goes through almost every thing. so example

i jump inn on kusgedo and do hard slash, right before my jumping hard slash hits do down forward special button cancel into heritic brand and it will dodge my jumping hard slash and hit me with hertic brand as soon as i hit the ground.

Down light slash is good poke to set up for down forward special cancel into heritic brand. Its good because the down light slash makes opponent stop rushing and block. Which them leaves them pretty easy to grab.

You dont wanna dash to much with kusgedo. he has good pokes use your reach to frustrate opponent then when they rush keep them away from you by hitting them with heritic brand. Used well kusgedo is very scary even to expert players.

i am not kusgedo user so i cant give to many tips, but what i have said are you base of being good with kusgedo.

Gedo has some REALLY bad matchups though- such as Amakusa.

This game is actually what got me into fighting games! It hold a special place in my heart. It’s fun as hell.

M216X is actually the one that helped me to get any good at it. I mained Amakusa and alted Shizumaru and Mizuki.

This game is without a doubt one of of my favourite games of all times. I’ve played it for several years with people from http://heavenlyspirits.net.

Unfortunately, the interest has been a bit low for this game for a while, and I haven’t played it much the last year. I would love to change that if people want to go on P2P. Anyone who wants a game may add me to their AIM.

I see people mentioning that MAME emulates some games slowly. Well, as I mentioned in the RB2 thread, I have found that overclocking the emulated machine actually works in netplay. I should probably make a general thread about this on the forums.

Doing this you will remove all stage and effect-based slowdowns to games. Games that really benefit from this is Garou, Last Blade 2, and on some stages, Real Bout 2.

Oh, BTW. Try fighting against M216xLegendx in the game sometime. He is a monster.

Hey, thanks for that info m216x!
