i block that though
It is a unblockable. U prolly not doing it right. I put this in record in training and could not block it. There is no 3rd whiff of otoshi i just wait. The timing is not tight either for an unblockable.
Also
Vs ryu after fwd grab saks jhp is unblockable as well but because its so hard to time its unreliable.
Dont use same recordings for different characters. For example vs ryu i do otoshi small delay otoshi mash back dash tatsu jhp for fake x up. Vs ken the timing is much easier as i do otoshi otshi mashing punch as i do otoshi then when i land i mash back dash jhp which also works for cammy
Hold back > downforward then forward
Hi everybody,
I tried a lot of corner setups against certain characters but I can’t seem to find stuff that really works (like the classic backdash, lk tatsu, l.hp).
The characters I have problems with ara Guy, Honda and Blanka. Against those three I usually do just dash, lp shoryu and neutral jump hk to make their reversal wiff, but I think there MUST be something better,
Plus, against Dudley, I use frwd Jump dash j.hp as an unblockable setup. Works just fine for me and it’s easier 'cause the dash is easy to buffer, I guess
For the not crouch blockable tatsu, in the corner Uryo and Koichinko do: backdash, ***lk tatsu, dash lk tatsu *** . I’ve recently seen Uryo (against Daigo I think) try similar stuff after Ultra II in the corner but I really don’t like the choice of using Ultra II against Ryu
I actually have been using U2 for Ryu strangely enough. I’m very fond of LP Dp > U2 in the corner. Even a hit confirm near to corner goes into U2. I find the utility of not needing EX tatsu and just having strong footsies buffered into LP srk (close enough that it doesn’t whiff) very nice. I just prefer U2 Fo some matchups where U1 is recommended. I get less damage from Ultra; however, I normally do very punishing tatsu loops, so I like U2. My 2¢.
I also noticed nobody mentioned this setup
In corner: ex tatsu otoshi x2 jump back HP forward dash jump crossup HP on large characters. Sagat Abel Barlog Seth, I’m pretty positive Gief and T.Hawk too.
In the mirror match (Sak vs Sak) you can do: EX Sunpu, Otoshi x2, backdash, LK Sunpu, and then a really early J. MK for an unblockable.
Another one I saw vs Sakura was 2x otoshi n.jump cr.mk j.HP. Dunno if it’s unblockable or just ambiguous, though. Someone wanna test?
I gave this a few dozen tries with all different types of timings and whiffing and non whiffing the last hit of oroshi, everything I could think of, and I was able to block a fake-crossup each time, so I’m putting my money on it just being a fake crossup. Hopefully someone else tries it and proves me wrong, as I’m not that great at trying/discovering unblockables anyway.
Maybe there should be a compiled list of setups for each character, and whether or not we have unblockables, after Oroshi x2 in the corner. I have to admit going through each character in the cast to check for unblockables is quite tedious, with the 2,034,713 setups Sak has after Oroshi x2 .
Lastly, were those unblockables Flash was pulling at CEO really unblockables or just fake crossup HP’s? I’ve been trying to duplicate them and I have had no success on any of the chars he played (Rose, Rufus, Oni, whoever)
2x otoshi n.jump cr.mk **j.mk **works as an unblockable in the mirror match, I tested it many times and it’s not very hard to pull off once you have the timing down. The j.mk should hit the tip of Sakura’s head
Could you please write here the Metroid’s setups? I couldn’t watch the tournament and I really don’t wanna go through all the footage to find them, it’s too much
Also, writing all the unblockables found so far could be very useful. I currently use only the ones on dudley, chun and ibuki, because they’re very easy and reliable. I’m trying to find one against dhalsim too, just because Cody has a really easy one with j.mk and I think Sakura’s j.mk is not very different from Cody’s
Dhalsim you can crossup tatsu on his wakeup. I highly doubt that will be blocked.
The one Flash used against Combofiend(Oni), which was the only one I actually saw him do was:
otoshi x 2, j.back fp, dash, j.forward fp
Hmm thanks for that, it may be easier than my setup I’ll have to test that in the lab.
I went back through the matches that Flash played, and he tried the Oni setup Legend mentioned, plus he tried:
On Rose: Otoshi x2, backdash, LK Tatsu, J.FP
On Rufus: Otoshi x2, neutral jump, dash forward, J. FP
and someone else I forget. Either way I think people just weren’t ready for the fake crossups and blocked wrong, cause I tested these a few times and couldn’t get it but I might just suck.
And yea I think listing unblockables, and even just fake/real crossup setups for the characters would be huge, and would save everyone a lot of time.
yeah all those are fake crossups, nothing that Uryo or Juso didn’t use before. Maybe I’ll try to make a list tomorrow (I’m european and it’s kinda late now :P) of fake crossups after ex tatsus and throws in the corner(easy to do) and unblockables (very hard, since those are hard to find )
I’ve been working on some as well, but as for the unblockables i only know of the Sakura, Chun, Dudley and Ibuki ones :/. Also for some chars I couldn’t even get the J.HP to fake crossup.
Side Note: Guy’s fake crossup setup is weird, I use Oroshi x2 NJ. Fierce, land, S.MP, J.FP and it works, anyone have something less complicated/weird looking for Guy?
I couldn’t get the jump Fierce unblockable on Dudley, but jump MK worked.
EX Tatsu, 2x Otoshi, jump forward, dash, jump forward MK
I’m currently trying to make a spreadsheet with unblockables/fake crossup setups. I’m terrible at finding those, but since nobody else is doing it, I might as well give it a shot. (ninja edit: didn’t notice Streetcleaner’s post. I’m still going to do my spreadsheet though, as it will make stuff easier for me)
Haha yea I’m doing my own in fact, and that’s weird I got HP to work fine, try hitting the HP earlier.
Well, I can’t get the Sakura unblockable either. It actually ends up being 100% blockable when I try it. It probably has something to do with my Otoshi timing, but I have no idea how to time it.
EDIT: There we go. After 1h30m, I finally got it to work.
The strange thing is that the Dudley one is by far the easiest for me, i get it like 90% of the time. Whoever posts a list of unblockables or setups should also specify WHEN the Otoshi must it, trying every possible combination is so frustrating ahahah
For Dudley you must it kinda early, for example, but against Sakura I try to hit her head
Also, if a setup is completely blockable, doesn’t mean that with different timing it can turn into an UNblockable? I’m just asking
Yeah I got the Dudley Fierce unblockable afterwards, and it’s actually kind of easy.
I guess that’s it. Most of the time, when I miss an unblockable timing, I turn it into a 100% blockable.
Alright, so far I got these unblockables:
[]Ibuki: EX.Shunpu, x2 Otoshi (whiff 3rd hit), neutral jump HP, cl.MP, j.HP (the Otoshi hits must be done somewhat fast, and the jump Fierce must hit late, can be ducked)
[]Dudley: EX.Shunpu, x2 Otoshi, forward jump, dash, j.HP (short delay between Otoshi hits)
[]Akuma and Gen: EX.Shunpu, x2 Otoshi, forward jump, cr.MP, j.HP (here I had delayed the second Otoshi quite a lot, j.HP must hit late)
[]Sakura: EX.Shunpu, x2 Otoshi, neutral jump, cr.MK, j.MK (I did the Otoshi kind of fast)

[]Chun: Sweep, c.lp, j.mk (safe vs. EX SBK)
Throw, c.lp, j.mk (safe vs. EX SBK)
MP Sho, hold uf, j.mk

[]Ibuki: Sweep, c.lp, j.mk (safe vs. EX SBK)
Throw, c.lp, j.mk (safe vs. EX SBK)
MP Sho, hold uf, j.mk
What am I missing?
Actually I’m writing down all the setups and unblockables I’ve found, I’ll post it tomorrow or maybe even in a couple of hours. I found a couple new unblockables as well, one on El Fuerte and one on Chun after the Otoshi. by the way I got 100% blockable j.hp on Makoto and Dhalsim so I think we should be able to find an unblockable as well
I really need help only with Claw, Blanka, Adon and Honda, I couldn’t find anything for those characters. Actually I didn’t try anything against Gouken cause the parry stops ANY setup
