Sakura Q&A: Ask simple questions here!

This works afaik, I’ve done it a few times iirc

I have a question that maybe has been replied before, but still…

About Sakura’s landing a combo ending in EX Tatsu, is it still worth to bet in a reset mixup or go to granted DMG? Because i feel that Sakura’s resets r very known in general, in 10 tries i can only land 2 resets and i always use diferent ones…I feel a bit frustrated : \

Should i keep the resets and use them sparringly, like “make” my oponent used to a knockdown, then use a reset to fuck his head, or go straight into dmg?

I pretty much avoid resets now and try and focus on solid play. I’ll only use them if I need a clutch or maybe a dizzy.

Pretty much either do otoshi (2 or 3 hits), dash in sweep or lp shouoken, hp shouoken to put them in the corner. But most of the resets even though well known are usually now used ambiguously. It’s not like oh he jabbed me so he’s gonna dash under and I’m gonna block. J.lk means you can pretty much pick what side to hit them from depending on how far you wanna walk, then you can block or n.jump or throw.

Please upload a video in that case, I’m sure all of us are dying to see this.

I always go for a mixup, unless I’m in or close to the corner, then I’ll go for safe charged hadoken setup.

Easiest mixup and one of the hardest mixups to deal with for other people is dash forward, j.FP.

For me I tend to go for resets mainly in the corner cause you have the double crossup options, usually anywhere else I just end with the 3 smash otoshi or go for the 2 smash otoshi to meaty lvl 3 hado.

Ultra 1 or 2?

ultra 1 to look cool, ultra 2 for more opportunites to use it.

ultra 1 for more damage

I generally go for resets from mid-screen, since late j.RH can really confuse people as you can land on either side at the last moment. In the corner, I reset a lot since all of the one’s I use are 50/50 (unless they can react to what I do in half a second, assuming they know how I decide which side to land on. )

And as for ultras, it’s really match-up dependent. I use U2 for the following: Akuma, Seth, Dhalsim, Viper, Gief, Rufus and Tony Hawk. And sometimes on Honda, Gouken and Adon depending on the type of player I’m fighting.
Everyone else, I strictly use U1.

2 questions:

 1. After doing an EX tatsu close to the corner I like to use the 2x otoshi > charge fireball setup but is this really a solid setup when your opponents got full meter/ultra? Its really easy to tell that you’re charing that fireball so you can easily react to it with a mashed out ultra.

I still see alot of players using this setup, I’m I missing something? (I just got hit by an ultra while doing it)

 1. I’m not really sure what I should be doing after hitting a HP srk. I usually jump at the opponent with j.HP or j.MK but when my opponent doesn’t get up quick I jump at them and at that moment I don’t have any mixups besides neutral jump HP which is risky at that point. What should I be using after hitting that HP srk?

Thanks!

You should recover in time to block most ultras. I always block Cammy’s U1.

After HP Shou and they don’t tech, you can LK Tatsu or LP Shou for mix-up/meter build. Walk up next to them and meaty or block. Etc, etc.

The charged fireball setup is 100% safe from reversals. Never had to test that against a 1+0 super (or an Adon), but you’re completely safe from 3f shoryus.
You may just be walking foward to far for the midscreen setup.

Thanks, thanks. Ok, so when I look at this video:

(Uryo vs Zangitan)

I clearly see Uryo hit confirming that c.mk > srk
How do you train such a thing? Any advice?

Can some of you do this and could you always do this or did you train for it?

I don’t think alot of people hit confirm it just from the c.mk. It can be done though.
Most people just buffer the shouoken with c.mk.

Looked to me like Uryo was whiff punishing or just taking a chance with it if he had meter to fadc if its blocked.

Fei Longs do c.mk xx super though as hit confirm. Crazy stuff.

@smashingme: In one of the other threads here someone suggests going into training mode, setting the computer on random-block and practicing hit-confirming c.mk into Shououken like that.

Yeah I wonder if thats the way the go. I asked around in the Cammy thread a while ago and someone stated that it was ?? frames and that it shouldn’t be possible with human reactions. Sakura does have a longer hitconfirm frame though.

In EVO 2009 there was this Ryu player called Dan, he hitconfirmed every c.mk > super but he didn’t look at the character getting hit, he was looking if the screen said: counter. Maybe thats what I should aim for.

If you’re looking to hit confirm c.mk xx shou, you need to buffer the DP everytime you do the c.mk.

If you see that it hits (gold hit flash as opposed to blue block stun) you hit the FP punch button and she does a shouken.

Things to note as well are what your opponent is doing. Sometimes you can see it hit because they threw out a move. The most common use is to throw out c.mk out of range and buffer the motion and button and if they move forward or do a move that moves their hitbox forward they get hit by the c.mk and it’s cancelled.

If you do the “out-of-range buffer” method as everyone else does, make sure that you do the buffer very fast because if you whiff and do the buffer you might end up getting a shouken after the c.mk whiffs which pretty much means you’re eating a lot of damage.

i feel stupid for asking this but, i’m at a loss. When i try and do the cr.lk > cr.lp > cr.lk > ex tatsu i get standing lk or nothing at all. I have inputs on in training mode and the motion is correct. I have tried changing the timing of the input but it never seems to work. any advice on getting this more consistent? i have tried to plink with mk(lk comes out instead) but still nothing. any advice would be appreciated as this is my first week learning the character.

Yeah I’ve been using it as an out of range buffer/random into FADC if needed and as a punisher. But it would really up my game if I could hit confirm it.
