yeah most characters have one… but some arent all that useful : /
It’d rock if she had a good one…

A fighting stick is the best investment you can make if you want to play fighters. Period.
Am I doing something wrong or can sakura not FADC -> dash forward -> throw? I see ryu and cammy doing it all the time, but whenever I try it, the throw just whiffs… and I usually end up getting thrown for my trouble. I don’t recall seeing it nearly as often from any character besides ryu and cammy, but I’ve got a shitty short term memory.
Yes she can do it, I do it all the time lol
Yea, I figured I was just doing it wrong… I guess I’ll just have to dash harder or something
Does Sakura have any meaties she can combo off of? I’m tired of letting people wake up for free =\
you can try what i do, but what i do is very risky… when playing players i havent played before, i usually will pin them to the ground and wont let them get up on wake up… but once someone knows my tricks i have to mix it up. i like to jump over on knockdown, and time it so right as i land i throw out an EX shouoken or a c.HP - EX tatsu as they wake up… this is extremely risky though, but ive found it to have great success online. another is just to neutral j.HK - whatever you want
It works online 'cause there’s lag -_-; I play against tournament players and I think I would literally get punched in the face for even trying something like that. =\
yeah… thats why i mix it up… so as to not eat a dp or something…although its great that EX shouoken will go right under DPs if they decide to do it.
how about c.lk > ex tatsu? That’s usually what I do on a downed opponent. I mix it up with c.lk > lk tatsu > throw unless I’ve determined that they’re reversal dp happy, then its just c.lk > block > punish.
I also do the jump over, ex shou thing too. it feels so wrong, I think i know it shouldn’t work but I do it anyway… mostly because it does. (sometimes)
I like the "jump over ex shouken."
It seems to happen when I am jumping in deep and my opponent is doing a low attack. I then ex shouken when I see I am landing on the otherside of them. So for me it is more of accident when I do this. LOL
c.lk > ex tatsu isn’t a great idea on wake-up. if they wake-up with their input in down-back position, at best the c.lk will hit, but the tatsu will go right over. ex tatsu goes over ducking opponents at that range, either way you waste a bar. you might as well just do c.hp > ex tatsu on wake-up.
for meaties, i usually do a 2-throw knockdown and then throw out c.lk > shouken (optimally with 2 bars for cancel), or c.hp > ex tatsu > variable. this probably only works online though.
i have an aversion for jumping in on wake-up, i always think im going to eat an ultra or a dp.
in general, its best to just let them get up, especially if they’re sitting on a ultra.
If I’ve thrown them forwards, I’ll use a fully charged hadouken as it’s just the right time for them to get up and eat it. Unless they’re doing something that is invincible or something, it’ll do chip damage at the very worst
That, or I mix it up between throwing again, neutral j.hk -> throw, j.hk -> c.hp -> EX Tatsu etc, or just letting them get up.
If they have an Ultra, it’s better to be a bit cautious though :3
erm, cross up with lk? I seem to read a lot that people have trouble crossing up with sakura, i find it just as easy as ryu or kens.
Fair enough it has to be hit quite late if you want to combo/block string or you will get thrown or reversaled, but crossing up on wakeup is so important sometimes.
Easiest way is forward throw, pause, cross up with lk as the throw will put you at the correct distance.
the block string: cr.lp, cr.lp, cr.lk also puts you at the correct distance for a cross up
Crossups are in general dangerous with her unless its on wakeup because she does not have much horizontal reach backwards with her jump lk. It works better on taller characters who have less time to react and walk out of, but many better players are quite capable of just walking an inch forwards and then throwing you, or worse.
Actually crossups are more dangerous to taller characters (sagat) because if your j.lk hits too high, you will not connect with the cr.lk or whatever, which leaves you open for a tiger uppercut reversal or throw
i hate fighting sagat or seth or gief for those reasons. pisses me off like no one could believe. lets give a character a cross up that is pretty much usless… yeah. awesome
I have not run into this problem on hit.
