Sakura Q&A: Ask simple questions here!

I wouldn’t be surprised if dash, c.mk x hp sho punished it as well, it works against Cammy’s srk for example.

Is there something for counter cross-up tatsu againt Ryu/Ken/Akuma? I find that a late cr.HP works but it’s not reliable; any AA or Air vs Air?

I was thinking that too but it requires bit faster reactions and fast fingers :bgrin:

doesn’t look like it but cr.mk xx shou works
walk a little forward if needed.

In my experience you can probably get away at the lower levels playing a keep-away/zoning game with hadous and st.HK. If they’re jump diving full screen to beat your fireball a late release on the hadou will stuff them, if they catch on it usually moves on to a footsies game

cr.HP after tatsu

I can’t for the life of me get this to work consistently. I’ve looked up plinking but if anyone has any tricks they use to land it, they would be greatly appreciated.

the trick is practise 8/

train it first on bigger characters,
the loop does not work on all characters.

s.HP xx LK Shunpuu > c.HP should work on everyone. It is a 1-frame link so it will be hard, plinking will help if you have the tendency to try try the link too soon but won’t if you’re always late on the link. Just need to try and work out the right visual cue for it. Your window is 1/30th of a second, plinking will make it 1/15th of a second if done right (frame before and first (and only) frame “active”).

I can do it pretty consistently on an opponent after dizzy or FA but I have trouble doing the loop after a cross-up. Should it always work after cross-up?

j.MK cross-up it won’t work, it has weird spacing but a c.HP xx LK Shunpuu > s.LK should work on everyone.

I can’t for the life of me do cr. lk into st. hp. I get it like 10% of the time :(. Never had so much trouble linking something before.
My success rate does seem a bit better when I attempt to plink.

Any tips to do it? Or is it just one of those you have to practice til you get the feel down?

It is a 1-frame link so plinking is advisable, take it you’re doing it for the trials, just keep at it and you’ll get it eventually. During an actual match there’s always a better option than that awkward link.

Thanks. Guess I’ll work on my plinking before doing that trial again.

If you’re doing empty jump mixups, c.lk, cl.hp has the highest payoff from a low.

Can you hit confirm with a single c.LK into a 1-frame link? Too tricky for my taste, better off going for an easy c.LK > c.LP > c.HP or go the full hog with c.LK xx EX Shunpuu.

Sometimes you have to throw those easy confirms to the curb because your only salvation might lie in landing that big damage combo.
After you hit cl.hp you you’ve had enough time to confirm, with practice you’ll learn to confirm into lk+mk for EX and if you got blocked hit lk for safety.
When you learn to grasp the flow of your oppoenents defense to Sakuras safejump okizeme, you learn when you will connect with a xup and when you won’t, when that low will connect and when it won’t, when you can do empty jump throw and when you can’t.

Sugami, you have to stop being so weak about how you go about with Sakura, no matter what I post I always see you answering with something like “That’s too difficult for me I’ll stick with …”.
How do you expect to improve if you’re not pushing yourself beyond what you’re capable of, getting better under those circumstances is just a dream within a dream.
Learning Sakura’s difficult combos, option selects and ways to get in is essential to get better, though everyone fails hard at learning difficult things at first, that effort will pay off after a month or two resulting in more wins than before.
It’ll also make it possible to realize new things that you were unable to see before, pushing yourself further than you think you can handle is the very basis of getting better.
I don’t want to see any more posts like this from you, or anyone else on these forums for that matter.

Reaction time, execution, matchup knowledge, footsies, zoning these are all aspects that will be improved by practice.
A typical notion a lot of players have is that some players are just good, that’s just the way it is, this is of course just the human instinct of cotton wrapping the truth acting up.
No player is born good, players that are good have all gone through the same gauntlet to reach where they are now.
The only choice you need to make is will you run, or will you stay behind?

Sonichurricane;s TACV is up. i liked the sakura on akuma combo

Does Sakura have any reversals. Rush down characters have been destroying me lately(especially Cammy) because once they get in on me I am pretty much screwed for the rest of the round. Her specials don’t seem to work and neither do her normals. What can Sakura do in those situations?

ex dp.

she only has EX DP as a invincible reversal (which has 11 frame startup and can be safejumped)
You have to learn to block.
