Why does my st.FP > lk tatsu > cr.FP > EX tatsu miss sometimes? It feels like I’m timing it right, but the cr.FP falls short sometimes (in other combos too sometimes)

it depend on the character and how close u started the combo on that character. on ryu u have to start right next to him but other characters are more lenient. that or your timing is off on the cr hp. when its a 1 frame link the timing will feel right even though u were one frame off. u gotta remember 1f is 1/60 of a second not the easiest thing to get pin point accuracy with. your bound to be a little off sometimes

How do you beat Honda with Sakura? Every time I play him he just holds downback?

Get a lead then keep him away at full screen with Hadoukens :stuck_out_tongue:

If you’re having issues with c.HP missing or whatever in the LK Shunpuu loops try using s.LK instead, has better range even if the damage isn’t as good.

I was playing an Akuma today and I hit him with cr.HP and did EX Hurricane, but he stayed crouching and it ended up flying over his head. Isn’t cr.HP supposed to make the opponent stand or something? It happened quite a few times in the match. The cr.HP was connecting, by the way.

Yeah Akuma is just broken when it comes to EX shunpu’s hitbox. :sad: You’ll find it happens sometimes with other characters like Honda and Blanka too. Hopefully it’s something they’ll fix in SSF4. Safest bet is to combo into shouoken instead.

Can sakura’s mix up game be killed with reversal SRK? Cause everytime I attempt to reset I get srk’ed in the face, even when I cross under i still get srk’ed. I usually try resetting with c.lk or c.hp > ex tatsu, but yeah usually fails. Is this because of my execution? I kinda suck at the game but am working on it.

Nah the only thing that’s going to beat a reversal SRK is a crossup with j.LK - and of course the most important option - blocking! You should only really try reset mixups if you’re confident that they’re not going to try to reversal you either because they just seem to be a cautious player or because you’ve conditioned them not to (by baiting and punishing).

and of course some people can’t be conditioned : HP SRK 4 LYFE!!! :rock:

Ah ok then, yeah i honestly don’t know why I’ve never tried blocking then punished the SRK :wasted: But yeah I’m usually just using her resets frequently so I can prepare for when SSF4 comes out. I’ve played the older street fighters but SF4 is where I’ve started to link and cancel into combos.

What? That shouldn’t happen. When you say it “connected” you mean it actually hit him doing damage? It won’t make people stand up on block but will always make them stand up on hit…

It’s just Akuma’s broken hitbox. I’m sure you’ve had him start blocking half way through an EX shunpu that’s hitting - I’ve also had him DP me or teleport out of the middle of it. If he’s crouch blocking there’s a good chance you’ll fly over him if it decides not to connect fully. :frowning:

First off, Honda is one of Sakura’s worst matchups (from personal experience, I’ve only beaten the local Honda twice in tournament…) A lot of it is poking and very tight spacing. Do not try to jump at Honda since his Headbutt is stupid auto-correct op at it’s finest. You can’t run shenanigans on him either since he’s always got a down-charge. All you can hope to do is out-zone your Honda buddy with fireballs, c.Fierce (which sometimes get beat out by his j.Strong), s.Roundhouse (best poke), and c.Forward (buffered to Shoryu which will whiff at max distance on a outstretched limb / and will also get beat out by certain Honda pokes…) and for the sake of all justice, finish combos with Otoshi unless you plan on attempting j.Short resets.

c.Fierce xx ex.Hurricane (extremely close) will whiff on crouching Akuma. c.Jab c.Short c.Fierce xx ex.Hurricane will also whiff most of the time.

Against Shotos, it’s usually safer to finish combos with Otoshi unless you know your Shoto is good and won’t mash DP every chance he gets. Block with the intention of late teching and punish his scrubbiness with a 30% combo. Do not punish with throw.

It’s more than his hit-box if he doesn’t stand up after taking a hit from any variant of HP, you may miss the combo but he should always stand up if he takes a hit from HP x_x;;

I find Otoshi missing Honda quite a lot of the time :frowning:

It’s not that cr.HP doesn’t stand him up - I’ll bet what’s happening is that the first hit of the shunpu connects and then the rest doesn’t.

as far as i am aware at some cr.hp hits, then the first hit of ex shunpu misses, while others would connect.

seems to be a thing with late cancel, bad spacing, and missing first hit gives enough time to recover for them.

(similar to mk shunpu not comboing on purpose)

(funnily i most timethen cross up with ex shunpu on luck, too bad we can’t follow something up after that and get punished)
