Sakura Q&A: Ask simple questions here!

I have a pretty nooby question. What are some good ways to approach with Sakura? Especially approaching chars like Bison and Gouken.

Walk forward.

As you get closer to Gouken either neutral jump, absorb or simply block his fireballs.

You should be able to make Bison come to you though.

empty jumps work well against gouken

Where can I find the Sakura official SF4 art where she is doing her hadouken? It’s the art used in the official guide. Anyone knows where I can find it online? Thanks!

Does anyone who played SFA 2 or 3 recommend the game? And if so, how does Sakura play in it… like SF4?

Settle for this Chunner http://www.doctoroctoroc.com/misc/sakuraHadouken.jpg

She plays MUCH differently in the alpha series. They are great games tho IMO, more fun than SF4 is lol.

loooooool :wink:

random question: so i’m deciding which character to main and i naturally go to sakura because. well. she has no pants. but after reading up on her, i’ve come to the conclusion that the only way she can get damage is through mix ups that end in an ex-tatsu, making her relatively easy to predict.

is this true about her? haha i guess i’m looking for a pro cons list, which im sure is buried somewhere in a thread but i’m curious specifically about her big offensive options.

She does rely on shenanigans alot. You can usually get around that by doing c. or s. HP, lk Shunpukyaku, c.HP, EX Shunpukyaku.

You can just shorten it to c.HP to EX Shunpukyaku for now if you’re new. Why the c.HP? The Shunpu will usually fly over a crouching opponent. The c.HP makes them stand up for a sec.

I’m still a noob, but I hope this helps somewhat. If you’ve played a Shoto, you shouldn’t have too much a problem adjusting.

Now go practice!

Say, since the matchup and combo threads are kinda scattered, would it be appropriate to start a new one, with everything on the front page? I will gladly take the duties for it.

Sounds good to me. I think we need a complete match-up thread with everything in the first couple posts. Would be cool if it had input from most of the sakura players we have. I would love to contribute :tup:

Okay.

I’ll go ahead and get started on it. What I’m gonna do is try and pull some things from the other threads as well. I will try and give credit to everyone who’s the original poster.

Should it be combined in one thread, or two separate threads?

do a thread kinda like destin did, but have one large first second and third post if we start to gather alot of information on match ups.

Okay. I got the thread set up. I need to gather more stuff. I just learned to use spoilers. Enjoy for now. I haven’t got to the good stuff yet though. I may have to trim the fat if you know what I mean.

Hi everyone! I’m new to this forum! I ended up here because I was looking for a simple info. Maybe you can help me out. I didn’t find an answer to the question yet:

Is it normal that after a Shoryuken (Sho’ ouken I think its the name for Sakura), I can find NO way to hit again my opponent whilst he’s falling down? I mean, I can do that after the Ex-Tatsu, but it seems like no way whith the Shoryuken. Is it normal? I think It works the same with other characters…

And given that I’m here, second question: are there any link/cancel combos that are not listed in the trials? Where can I find them?

Thanks a lot to you all!

jab.Shoryu -> strong.Shoryu for I think +5 more damage? Not worth it.

Also the list of links and combos are in the Combos thread -_-;

The wiki also has a good list of combos.

Ok, I’ll reformulate the question :stuck_out_tongue:

If I try to link the Ultra after the Ex-Tatsu, when the timing is right, the combo works. That doesn’t happen when the enemy is falling on the ground from a hp.shoryuken. Is it a problem of timing or it simply can’t be done?

I’ll go check that other thread!

Thanks

Can’t be done. Ultra has no juggle properties the only reason it works after EX Shunpuu is because it leaves your opponent in the “anything can hit” state.

After a LP Shou you can get with an MP Shou (15 extra damage unscaled) or if you catch with the top of it an HP Shou can hit or even an Otoshi with the right spacing. After MP or HP Shou you can’t follow up with anything else.

If you were to use the kana spelling of the kanji and translate that character for character it’d be written “shououken”, actually translates to “Sakura Fist” :slight_smile:
