Yeah, you could see in the second round he wanted to keep Dan well away from him. But he couldn’t keep running for ever
I’ve never heard it as Tiger Asshole, but his JP voice is very thick.

Roomie and I playing. I was playing even more awful than usual, though. Still stole the win though. There’s only one other Dan video up right now, which is me getting destroyed by his Fuerte :(.
Why do people think just because you’re playing Dan that you can play like ass. Sorry dude no disrespect to you, but there is a lack of quality Dan videos.
I wish I had a capture card. Most of the people you guys fight are retarted. I rarely see any mixups, baiting, rushdowns, good taunt placement. I mean there is a lot of info in this section yet I rarely if ever see anyone preform the combos in the thread. You guys watch the Hibiki San videos but I feel like no one learns or takes away anything from them. Seriously, what’s the problem?
Like Pat man… What’s the deal? You post like 20 videos and every match is excatly the same. Reversal DP after reversal DP, run to the corner, taunt. You get punished by the same shit 15 matches in a row, why? And stop with the mirror matches. They are not fun to watch or play.
Hopefully 2010 will bring more quality Dan players.
Sorry for my drunken rant. Just this Dan forum makes me sad.
Take your non-saikyo behaviour somewhere else, mister!
It’s not that. It’s more that over months and months there is no improvement. This is the best incarnation of Dan yet in the series you should take advantage of it. He is not a “bad” character for once. Sure he has his problems but you can actually win and win with gusto.
I guess it’s true. Saikyo is no cakewalk. And most of you cannot handle it. How is that for being Saikyo for you?
Still not Saikyo :nono:
Dan’s a character that appeals to everyone because of his character, not his abilities. You saying casuals, who just aren’t that great at the game but love the character, can’t use him? That’s not Saikyo at all.
I hope Saikyo Claus left you a big pile of coal in your smelly stockings :arazz:
So what you’re saying is that I should pick Dan, put a blindfold on, mash a couple buttons, and I will fully embrace the essense of saikyo? Seeing as how we are taking things out of context and all.
You all try to look and act Saikyo but the truth is you’re just freakin’ posers…
Basically what you’re saying is "You’re all casuals in this Dan forum! It’s a bad thing!"
It’s not a bad thing. Let casuals have casual matches. There are some great Dan players in this forum, Xiahou Mao, D-bus, what have you. But some (most) others just want to have fun with Dan. How is that bad? Tell me, how is having fun bad?
When you see a shitty Ryu posting a video of him doing j.HK, cr.HK ad libitum and having fun while doing so, do you go batshit insane and tell him he’s a freaking poser and should feel ashamed because it’s totally against the Hadou spirit to do something like that?
There is no improvement? Well, that’s because not all of us want to play Dan seriously at a competitive level. That’s also because some of us are mediocre players at best, so we can’t play Dan at a competitive level. Deal with it and go being butthurt somewhere else. If you were Saikyo, you wouldn’t care that people are having fun without playing like pros.
Hi, you’ve never seen me before and my opinion doesn’t matter.
Canonically speaking, true Saikyo would be acting like an arrogant jackass while being comically inept. Mr. Clapper is just staying in character.
You can play Dan seriously/like a pro and still have fun; that’s the way I do it anyways.
Of coure, but you don’t have to.
Wow. Talk about rage. There is like fire coming out of your ears.
And your quote makes me LOL. I NEVER said anything of the sort. People on this site love to do selective reading. Take bits and pieces out of context and sew them together in their own text filled rage.
LOL at Xiahou & D-Bus. I am not trying to take away anything from either of you but go back to their videos and look at the poeple they play, and I’ll just leave that topic there.
Also why is it so hard for you to see that it saddens me to see the community for a character I like not strive for improvement? Isn’t that why you come to this site? To improve? If not just go back to Gamefaqs were casual stupidity is the norm.
Did you catch the poser reference too? No? That’s not Saikyo.
And shit, if anything YOU were the one that just said everyone in the Dan forum was bad, not me. I was kindly suggesting that people work on improving their overall game. Why would you want to do reversal DP’s over and over again? You are a funny dude. You should stop raging and go practice. Maybe, god forbid, you might learn something…
Not everyone is going to wind up being a great player. Hell, not everyone is going to be a good player. That doesn’t mean that we should discourage them. The only way people will get better if via constructive help, not by mocking and belittling them. Mocking and belittling will just get them to quit the game, or even worse, to switch to an “easier” character.
There’s some people here who say that I’m good, and while I don’t think I’m bad, I don’t know that I’d go so far as to say I’m good. There’s no local tournaments that I can be tested at. I can watch streams or things at Frame-Advantage.com and ask myself “How would I do if I were there?”, but there’s no way I can know. What I do know is that I can’t even do a simple FADC combo. I’m getting old, my reactions and input time just aren’t there anymore, and playing on a normal 360 controller probably doesn’t help matters. So am I as technically sound as, say, Hibiki-San or D-Bus? No. Have I resigned myself to my position? Of course not!
I’m going to keep getting better as I go forward. I’m going to pick up new tricks from my own gameplay experience and from watching others. I’m going to keep tinkering with other characters (via Random select in Ranked, so as not to corrupt my pure Dan Championship Mode run) to learn what makes them tick and better analyze how I can get through them. I’m going to keep plugging at the FADC stuff until I can eventually pull it off flawlessly.
The most important thing, though, is that I’m never going to come in here and talk about how I’m better than other people. That’s just going to engender arguments, which shouldn’t be what this forum’s about. I don’t need to post Dan win quotes directed at other people here to embrace Saikyo. I can do that by offering advice, pointing out what people are doing right, and putting up my own videos for others to draw from. And ideally, that should be how everyone here acts. Or rather, continues to act, since it’s how we do things 99% of the time, drunken rants aside.
On the video note, too, I do have a new replay ready to go. Daffu has been busy and Kraiden’s 360 is dead, so I’m not sure when it’ll wind up on Youtube, but I’ll put it here when it does. It’s a match against Dhalsim, and much more one-sided than my previous game with Smallfry. It might help a bit with the people who have trouble closing distance with him though.
Man, if it really saddens you, you should just stop playing video games or stop browsing forums, one of the two. If people don’t improve with Dan, don’t blame them and do it yourself.
Why would I go to Gamefaqs when there is already a community I like here?
Did I say that? I didn’t say that. I said that it’s not important if there are casuals in this forum, and there are.
Kindly ? Oh man
And I’m the guy raging ?
You never saw me play, did you? So why are you judging me? And even if I am a terrible player, what is it that stops me from browsing these forums, chatting with people about Dan, giving tidbits here and there when I find them? Certainly not a guy raging about the forum not being reserved to pro players :wonder:
I am not even going to continue to argue with you. It’s pointless because you don’t listen. I could tell you the grass is green and you would argue about what hue of green it is.
Why is it so much to ask/hope that in the coming year to see the Dan community and its players improve? If no one strives to get better then there becomes a lack of info to share. Then everything comes to a stand still.
Why do you have to be “pro” to improve your gameplay? I don’t get it. Your argument holds no weight. You just say the same thing over and over again. Other then that Dan players are all casual, will spam random reversal DP’s, stop keeping pressure to run to the corner and taunt. Because they don’t care and that’s what they find “fun”.
Basically what Tizoc said sums up what I am trying to get across…
Seems like I’m late to the drama bus, but here’s my reply that hopefully comes across as lighthearted.
There’s a lack of “serious” Dan videos because there’s so few of us who play him competitively. Most people who want to put the time into getting good with a character don’t choose the character in his own special tier for special people. We’re a rare breed.
Getting a capture setup together takes money. Getting a good capture setup together takes money and know-how. So with our already small playerbase, there’s only going to be a choice few of us who go the distance and set up shop. Those who do should be given props regardless of their commitment to the competitive side of the game. Some people don’t feel the want or need to compete, or put in the effort to maximize their progress in the smallest amount of time. They’d rather have fun, with friends, in their own way. When they feel the need to improve substantially (See: ), whether by repeated loss or an outside inspiration, they’ll do it. No one in their right mind would force them otherwise.
Some of us are getting better. I started SFIV at the PC release in late-June after playing it twice since it’s console release. I was shit. I was absolutely godforsakenly terrible. Now my execution is up to a respectable level and my matchup experience, thanks in most part to this forum, is sizable enough that I can breakdown my matches and look at what I can do better whether I win or lose.
Outside of the occasional matchup information and some LK Danku shenanigans in regards to crossups and frame advantages, there’s not a lot more Theory Fighter IV to play. I would like to get into instant LK Air Dankus, but I can’t physically perform those on the keyboard fast enough for it to matter. Everything else, from general matchup info and the better situational info is all here. In order to discover the slightly relevant infinitesimal details, we need a larger base of players to stumble upon and document them.
We don’t have those players, though. We have our happy little ragtag sub-community on SRK, of various skills, professions and hours clocked into the game. We don’t rock the boat here because there’s not much reason to. If someone asks for matchup tips, we give them. If someone finds something neat, we look into it. We’re doing nothing different from the other forums. We simply don’t have the manpower to do the whole exhaustive meta-game analysis shtick. That doesn’t mean we don’t try.
People are allowed to play as they like, mein Fuhrer. Whether they be Man or Scheie. Offer constructive help when it’s asked for, and discoveries when you find them.
Haha, you think I don’t know I suck? At least I’m trying. Post some of your own vids and stop bitching about others. If even an amatuer like me can figure out how to post a few vids i’m sure it’ll be easy for a pro like you
Cost me less than half what I paid for the game to be able to record matches. Google “easycap” and search for tutorials on youtube. If you can afford buy the game you can afford easycap…
oops. double post.
i’ve got me one o’ them thar easycaps now, and i we play again pat, i’ll record it and put it up without mean anotations…
edit:
also, vid: it has a surprise ending :amazed:
