Well I use stick so in order to kara-taunt there’s two ways to do it “properly”, neither are at all effective or reliable for me. First is to try and use one finger (or thumb) to hit MP+MK then quickly roll it onto HP+HK, problem is you’re more likely to not hit HP+HK at the same time and won’t taunt Other way is to reposition my hand so it’s kinda parallel with myself and use index and middle finger on MP+MK and try to quickly “flattern” my hand to hit HP+HK.
When I pissed around with it in training I changed the MP button to Focus Attack and HP button to Personal Action, that way I only need to quickly press two buttons in sequence
I pissed around with Sagat in Championship once, just doing kara-Knees and Uppercuts all day long, was pretty funny but wasn’t very successful
Ahhh. Got it. I borrowed a stick (X-Arcade, joystick is crap, doesn’t “read” inputs for shit) and had some luck by making a “peace sign” and slamming my hand down onto the buttons slightly staggered. Index finger slightly lower hitting the two mediums first, middle finger raised just a tad hitting the two hard attacks a split second later. Basically 90* off from the second method you described.
I think I could actually use it on an online battle if the damn joystick itself wasn’t such a piece of crap. I need to get off of my duff and make myself a stick…
I get frustrated sometimes, usually over my connection more than anything. I play Zangief as an alt. I like the feel of really punishing people for poor mistakes. After a few games, even when winning with Zangief I find I miss Dan. I don’t win as much as Dan, but it really is about the enjoyment. It can be frustrating not being as powerful as other characters, but if you really like the character then you have to get past that and just have fun, or switch to another character.
Keep trying kraiden3, some things can be annoying, but Dan is about the fun and silliness. If you are having a bad day then take a day off from street fighter and watch a funny movie, then come back to Dan the next day. Once you enjoy playing Dan it is hard to play anyone else, I have tried and I can’t seem to let go of Dan.
Heh yeah doesn’t look like he knows/knew the character that much, I bet if he played around with him for a little bit he could make Dan as deadly as Sanford if not more so.
And so the long task of buffering Hibiki-san’s video starts
Here is a personal match I had… this one is funny but is me playing to win… not with Sakyo spirit.

the ones that say “Dantics” will be my funny ones. I will post those in an hour.
this one is for the guys who say I taunt too much.
sakua

Seem to be dashing after your Focus Attacks now, which is good. Need to brush up on your punishment though, that’s when you are punishing rather than taunting c.HP xx HK Dankuu on the Focus Attack hits, if you dash away you can walk or dash forward and score a Kouryuken for the best damage or easiest thing is just HK Dankuu. Remember you can still land Ultra after a back dash (most of the time) and if not you can dash forward and still have time to land an Ultra.
Was that Ken match particularly laggy? Kept missing the SRK punishes, if having trouble with timing the slowness of c.HP (and combo into HK Dankuu not Kouryuken) then try s.HP or s.MP. Although I do remember you saying you have trouble with using standing normals into specials, I’d suggest practicing the hell out of it until you can get it but using standing normals instead into Kouryuken is pretty simple if you use the F DF F shortcut.
Need to punish those sweeps, c.MK xx Gadouken/EX Dankuu, c.HK is just too slow. Gotta show those scrubs that close range sweeps will get them punished and maybe they’ll think twice about using them.
Something I’ve been trying to teach myself is throwing after miss-spaced jumps. Guaranteed these super scrubs will only use j.HK, if it looks like it’ll go over you then throw them as soon as they land, it’s guaranteed damage for you. If they don’t attack they can tech the throw but I think a throw will beat anything else they try to do (correct me if I’m wrong guys). This is a two-way street, you need to make sure your jumps are properly spaced too and if you think the attack won’t land then don’t attack and get ready to tech a throw (if you’re lucky you might just throw them).
That Sakura makes Baby Jesus cry It’s not chip damage if you get hit though Spammy Sakuras = stop using Focus Attacks, Shououken eats through them and Shunpuu Kyaku breaks them.
I think before Hibiki-san started blurring his name it would show his gamertag as that Google translate is really REALLY bad, so is babel fish
He squeezed that victory out of the Ken match, I think the Ken Super was meant to be an Ultra and that probably would have won it for him though
If there is lag or the timing is to tight for you omit the c.mk and go straight for the EX.Danku.
I’ve been MURDERING Sagats with throws lately. Everyone really. I’ve been working on adjusting my position as they jump in to cause their attack to whiff and throwing them before they can SRK or sweep or what have you.
I’m a bit thick headed so I STILL have trouble with cutting out the FA bait on wake-up against Sakura. Her SRK has to much range to do it.
If she has no meter you can just try landing an FA2 on wakeup, if she’s that dense to keep trying to do wakeup Shououkens (usually LP without meter) a well timed FA2 will catch her before it becomes “active”, actually an FA1 probably would as well and should count as a counter-hit too.
Some friendly matches with Faux123 SRK. This guy is pretty legit, so I didn’t walk away with many wins. In fact, I think I only won like 3 out of 12 or so matches. Fucker plays my weakest matchup - Cammy! UGH! Fun games, though:
Set 1 -
Set 2 -
Set 3 -
You know, looking back, I didn’t taunt nearly enough!
Just got around to seeing these, couldn’t see them when I saw the post then forgot about them, whoops Not bad by the both of you
The only thing that really gets me with Cammy is the Cannon Strike mix-up (throw, hit confirm combo or Cannon Spike). I’ve played around with Cammy and I usually get thrown out of the combo leads me to think that you need to do the Cannon Strike quite late to give you the frame advantage. Luckily for you he didn’t seem to do it much, need sharp reflexes to Kouryuken it out of the air otherwise the only thing that’ll probably avoid them all is back dashing but need to be quick.
Something you failed to do was punish those blocked Cannon Spikes, HK or EX Dankuu is the easiest thing to do (EX does more damage here) and of course Ultra. If you’re particularly keen you can dash and Kouryuken for the most damage, can even land a Super but that’s really tight.
Your jump-in game seems a little weak, while it’s a good idea not to jump in a lot it’s still quite a basic and somewhat “essential” part of the game. The most basic of which being j.HK/cross-up j.MK > c.MK xx Gadouken, can substitute the Gadouken for an EX Dankuu, it’d do more damage than your j.MK > s.MK. Of course there’s the s.MP xx Dankuu combos as well, bit trickier since have to judge the distance so s.MP is close and not far but it’s always close off a cross-up so usually a good idea to try them on cross-ups
So I got my TE stick (Yay!) but I suck ass at it for the moment (Boo!). Even with the stick, still the only character I can consistently win with is Dan the man. It must be the Saikyo spirit inside all of us, that or his rushdown and mind games are pretty damn good for once.
Signed up for the XBL training team, and I’m doing a tournament on the 22nd and will be repping Dan most likely. Just need practice at this point, and find time to do said practice.
Recent matches on here are pretty good, insightful. Learning to FADC the Gadoukens currently.
That’s why you have to pick your moments You got a few jumps on her but you didn’t really capitalize on them, I saw one c.MK xx EX Dankuu off a jump in, rest you just seemed to use s.MK
You can cross-up on her moderately well, if she gets a McReversal (“auto-correct”) then you’re screwed, if not she zooms off and it is kinda hard to punish that.
Cammy doesn’t really bother me unless they’re good at the Cannon Strike mix-up game, then I’m screwed DB ruins her day basically, Kouryuken can hit her out of Hooligan and Jumps/Cannon Strikes but you do need to be pretty quick on those. You’re kinda lucky your friend never did Cannon Spike xx FADC > Ultra, he certainly had the opportunity a few times Most impressive FADC > Ultra methinks
