Sagat Teams

Idk why you would run that team though it is a good one, it’s not good because they have real synergy imo. It’s good because Sagat and Juri are both great chars in general so you take a top tier and pair with another top tier ok you can’t really go wrong though there are better choices.

Though Sagat is a great battery and Juri wants meter so eh maybe there is sum synergy after all. But I prefer Sagat with a Mishima or even Rufus.

Basically what EL said (although Juri does not need meter in this game except for tag canceling when needed, alpha counters and an occasional reversal. Juri’s EX moves are not worth the bar and her counter teleport now has a 1 frame start up normally, not just the EX. Her EX moves are kind of useless in this game).

Sagat and Juri are both good characters, but they don’t play off each other’s weaknesses or strengths. They are 2 of the 3 best zoners in the game. You don’t need two really strong zoners on one team. Sagat’s game in keep people out, so that isn’t going to benefit Juri as a partner unless you are playing a Zangief/Hugo team, which is incredibly unlikely. Juri gets in and then Sagat stays in for her on tag? That’s not good for Sagat. Juri, IMO, doesn’t belong with such a “pure” zoner like Sagat. Juri, because she is a jack of all trades (and master of none unfortunately), needs a solid character on offense if her zoning and offense fails.

Sagat, IMO, needs to be teamed with a rushdown/pressure character. Keep them out all day. Once they are in, find the opening and get the rushdown/pressure character in there. This covers all of Sagat’s weaknesses and, likely, covers all of the rushdown character’s weaknesses.

For me, it isn’t a good team.

I was using sagat/rolento with little success.
Switching to sagat/Ryu has made things a lot easier.

Sagat/Rolento is a horrible team.

They are both batteries and they fill the same roles and they both hog meter for damage.

No bueno.

They both hit like wet noodles.
Plus it’s not like ryu can do damage without meter or can do that much damage after all. You might want to look at more characters.

So I agree that the sagat rolento was bad, but I feel like sagat Ryu works rather well. I would play Rufus but I hate how that character looks.

I main Ibuki/Sagat

Sagat/King is pretty fun, strong damage from both sides for relatively little meter which leaves me plenty for GTFO alpha counters

I’m actually having a really hard time finding a good partner for Sagat that I want to play.

Sagat should be played on point, that’s a given imo.
I’d recommend Raven, Kazuya, Xiaouyu, Asuka?

The king leads the team to victory on point imo.

Good teammates are anyone that can hit hard, has good footsies and walk speed. Kazuya fits the bill very nicely.

A guy once told me that the team has no synergy and that both chars are anchors. I loled. I seriously loled.

anyone who deals rediculous amount of upclose pressure is a good teammate, a.k.a rushdown!

I’m running Sagat and Heihachi, and the team is VERY good.

I was a main of Sagat back in SF4, and after years of playing him in that game I have confidence with him in all situations against all types of Characters. Sagat IMO doesn’t have a single HORRIBLE match-up in this game like he did in SF4(Akuma). He has some tougher matches, but nothing is out of his reach. The heart of Sagat will always be, good blocking(smart blocking), anti-air’s on POINT and zoning(fireballs and normals)

It’s just the subtle changes like added damage to TU’s, or the lp TU is 4 frame start up(SO GOD LIKE). Being able to snipe air Tatsu’s with ease, I love it.

I’m also trying to work with sagat/kaz, imo they work pretty well together; sagat + ewgf combos are just ridiculous. I just need to work on zoning/sagat in general. In sf4 i mained akuma, and dabbled with sagat towards 2012 but nothing serious.

Does anyone know how negative sagats s.lk c.mp chain is? (or is s.lk s.mk better?)

Edit: one thing that really bugs me is the f+lk nerf from sf4 -> sfxt… I love that normal ;_______;

P.S. Sagat + kaz have two of the same win poses, they were meant to be. (crossed arms + back to back with arms on their sides)

^ Don’t forget the scar on the chest.

I think if properties don’t change in magic series links then cr.mp is +2 on block, even cr.hp is only minus 1

f+hk, f+hk, HP DP, switch cancel (kaz) c.HP xx EWGF, s.HP xx EWGF, EWGF = 598 dmg mmm mmmmm…

Magic series add anywhere from 7 to 10 frames of recovery.

Sagat on point is pretty good, but he’s good as a backup vs many grapplers (a lot of people run Hugo secondary to Dhalsim; Sagat secondary comes in handy here.)

Anti-air F+HK > DP > switch cancel is great for punishing a jump-in because it’s nearly 300 damage off of two hits of scaling into your secondary character’s juggle combo. As Law I get 400+ from this, off of one bar.

I decided to mix in Sagat and Asuka, since Hwoarang and Juri fit best together.

The team has been working surprisingly well. Doesn’t seem like it should though lol.

Zone with Sagat, make em pay when the get close. Get in Asuka and do the business. If they get away from Asuka and play keep away, just bring Sagat back in.

Just curious what the general thoughts are on this pair.
