Sagat Social/General Discussion Thread

Footsies is so intricate I dare say no one will ever know it fully whether it be online or off. And by fundamentals I mstly mean your main punishes, your BnB’s, buttons to press vs certain chars at certain ranges. Basically the frame work of how your char is played.

online is good for that but that’s nothing i cant work on in training mode but i see where you’re coming from

Took 3rd at the break again. Lost to dieminion and Chris G. Dieminion is much stronger then me as a player so it’s expected. As I get more exp and train harder then gap in skill will close. Chris G though…the matches allowed me to see weaknesses in my game. I need to block more intelligently and respect frame traps and remember always to keep my basics strong. Good AA and good zoning will take Sagat a very long way. I need to use st.lk more. It’s a solid poking tool and I’m neglecting it far too much.

I love that even when I lose I’m content and I know I’ll come back even stronger.

Emblem, that’s the best mentality.
Tiger blood~

i got a tournament this saturday anyone on xbl wana get some games in?

yo,
gen is an ass.

Anybody else getting your tu beaten by a retarded jump in by an old guy in a pyjama?

it’s so fucking random and nonsense that i dont even expect it.

his jump arc is weird i think? like guys

his jump speed , height change depending on his stance.

Point is , sometime his retarded j.hk j.hp will beat tu on mantis stance

like lol.

o well Lol that sucks i have just learned i REALLY hate fei long :frowning:

Gen’s jump arc now is easy to see and TU compared to his old one in Vanilla.

Anyway, my Thanksgiving was nice cept my car’s engine is now destroyed. Timing belt snapped and tore up the inside of the engine. Now I gotta buy a used car. Which is fine I suppose. I have enough money, just that I have two jobs so it inconveniences me so I gotta get a rental car in the meantime.

Also I’m going to NEC now. It’s only about an hour away and I had alot of vacation time from my job so I said fuck it. So because of that I now put Fei on hold. Gonna focus solely on Sagat.

You did a great write up on the guy match up a whiles back. I want my friends guy to play you since i’ve been having a shit load of trouble in that match up.

Personally i find the match up to be 5.5 -4.5 in guy’s favor. but like you said it really tests the sagat player’s reactions.

anyway he’s a pretty top level guy. lemme know if you’re interested.

I don’t know how you see GEn’s jump arc. its pretty hard to see =/ also he has two different jump arcs and walk speeds so it kinda throws me off.

Yeah sure, I see no problem with that. I’ll play your friend if you want me too.

i guess we agree to disagree ^^

u should give it a go at a set against a good gen player , too bad they dont exist in america anymore or i guarantee you would see his arc aint that readable and jumping normals hitbox to be complete wacky now.

i

incidentally, my friends have one of the best gens and guys in california. luls

u have to uppercut with lp or mp and that should solve it, ive had this happen to me with honda / ken / gen . there normal seems to stuff my hp uppercut completely , even when timed correctly sometimes. its because of the hitbox change to HP uppercut after vanilla.

exactly , i believe it was because of the fact that they can hit your hurtbox on the back of your neck maybe.

Gotta remind myself of using the lighter versions.

Lots of stuff happened this week.

Fellow SF player Joshua Colon a.k.a sksksksksksk222 passed away and his death really made me re-evaluate myself and what I do and do not do for this community and the FGC at large. I’ll touch more on that in a bit.

Went to get my car from the used car dealer today, but apparently the previous owner didn’t sign over the title correctly when she sold it. She signed as a lien owner and not the seller. It’s semantics and retarded, especially since both the DMV and the dealership knew what she meant to do, but the DMV won’t sign over the title to me unless this is taken care of. Which means I need to pay for my rental car a few days longer and now I’m assed out an extra 300 bucks or so. W/e. Life…it happens.

But back on the subject of the dearly departed Josh. I mean dude was holdin it down in the Rose forums. Despite how weak he knew Rose was he didn’t cry or complain. Well not MUCH anyway haha, since he def expressed frustration over her in our conversations, but he always strove to do better and BE better. As a player and a teacher. When I thought of him, I felt weak. I’m older then him by 4 years, but I felt like he was on a higher level mentally. He did his best to contribute and studied the game alot.

His death made me realize that I NEED to do better. Hell the Sagat forums in general need to do better. I look at the Rose forums and it’s one of the most active on the boards. It always has been. Gat forums is a joke compared to them. Back when I played Smash, I did my best for the Marth community and alot of players contributed. The Marth boards for a time enjoyed a certain golden era of knowledge and information sharing. It was truly beautiful and I really want that to happen again. Although these frequent patches def make that mission harder it’s far from impossible.

The petty arguments need to stop. It’s pointless. We all play this char. That makes us brothers and sisters-in-arms. We have the same goal. To test the limit of our abilities as Sagat players. I’m tired of having dumbass arguments with Sagat players. Heavy weapons, Revolver and anyone else I ever had sum stupid beef with…shit ends now. Hate me or don’t, but I will not get into anymore petty arguments with either of you or anyone else for that matter.

I care about this char community and it’s time for a change.

What do you people think separates a good Sagat from a bad Sagat?
Certain OS? Certain zoning techniques?

IMO, Top notch zoning and hit confirming. I’ve noticed good Sagats will never miss a counter hit combo, or rarely. He never really body’s anyone real bad, he has to work hard. That and longevity, good Sagat’s have stuck with him through thick and thin, you hardly see anyone just come out fresh out of the woodwork in a tournament and do well.
