Lol at this guy’s reason for people using Sagat, so you think that Mago and RF never had skills to play with another character? theu just picked Sagat because he is “easy to use”?
I’ll tell you something, i started playing this game with Ryu, and then switched to Abel, then to Sagat…I stopped using Ryu because he is SO easy to use and everyone uses him…Ryus links are definitely the easiest in the game by FAR…from c.mp -> c.mp -> c. hk, to (forward)hp -> c.lp -> c.hp -> srk -> ultra…Ryu is THE easiest character in the game to use.
I agree with Shin_Ryu. Ryu is the most easiest character to play with. The ability to combo the ultra with some of his movesets are pretty easy to pull off. The challenge mode for Ryu (both normal and difficult) were a piece of cake to go through.
Anyways, I’d say Sagat is overrated. Someone stated in an earlier post, if you’re having a difficult time dealing with Sagat, it’s because you haven’t seen his weaknesses yet. Once you’ve discovered them, you’ll find that he is actually quite abit of fun to play against. I normally pick Fei Long against Sagat and exploit his weaknesses.
Learn to know that Sagat is limited in link combos and most players (that I’ve played) stick to short 2-1 combos only which leave big gaps (or they try to cover up with a tiger knee or tiger uppercut).
DarthPaul I remember when you sent me that message saying how we should do an even match-up sometime because you would win.
Meaning the only reason I beat your Ryu is because I play Sagat.

If a Ryu loses to a Sagat then the Ryu was outplayed.
Sagat has at LEAST 3 even match-ups. No one should be complaining about Sagat. The problem isn’t Sagat. The problem is that Capcom flat out made certain characters suck and didn’t give them any tools. Vega and Guile come to mind.
Yeah i’ve played against DarthPaul in championship mode lol and I know that he uses Ryu that’s why I had to post something.

sagat is over powered with is easy ultra set ups an his tiger kneww which if properly placed has damn near no recovery time. An the damage he does with a 2 or 3 hit combo is a shame. But he is not unbeatable it just takes more work. An ryu is just as bad wit his damn srk into ultra an it seems that is all ryu playera do is spam that til one hits an now look they r winning the match. But honestly in G2 every fight is almost a ryu sagat or balrog which all have easy ultra set up an it gets kinda boring but i love when my akuma beats the hell out of them an there cheap tatics. An i also notice a lot of sagats keep saying step your game up stop crying about him being over powered its so funny how you say that but u play wit the best person on the game. An i know some people actually like sagat an can actually play him which is fine but most cant even play him they just pick him cuz he is top tier same for ryu an balrog. if they ever where to nerf these 3 just in a minor way lets say make it harder to land there ultra watch how much sagats popularity goes down.
Sagat’s ultra is the hardest to land out of those three considering you actually have to FADC out of a move and also throw in the f. HK (optional) but the ultra won’t even hit completely! Those other 2 character can just do their ultra because of their short recovery time. Ryu can FADC from his srk to ultra as well but that is not what BEazy is referring to. With Sagat you can’t just do weak tiger uppercut anti-air into ultra. That wouldn’t work because the recovery time is absolutely horrible…and you don’t see combos that have more than 2 or 3 hits because his chain combos are so much more complicated than other characters.

Both can land an ultra without FADC in the corner, so it’s the same thing. And you can use fk to Ultra with Sagat for anit-air, so its the same. The very fact you think an ultra is everything says it all.

Sagat cannot land an ultra from a combo without FADC in a corner with TU because his recovery time isn’t as good as Ryu srk. Which is what I was talking about.
You sir have no right to complain about Sagat, you use Ryu.
And yes to me Ryu is the easiest character in the game to use…Capcom made him ridiculously noob friendly, because they know that everyone who picks up SFIV for the first time is going to pick ryu because he’s the “main character” or whatever and everyone likes him.
I’m not hating on pro ryu players, I love watching Daigo, I think he’s the best player in the world. However I still think Ryu is easy to use.
And BTW to master any character is hard…not just Ryu buddy, get your head out of your ass.
Ryu’s actually a pretty hard character to use, sure maybe in the start characters like him and ken are easy to use but when you face people at a higher level and familliar with most of his tatics it gets harder to win and yes i agree if with darthpaul if a ryu and sagat of the same level plays the sagat will most likely win the match
if sagat was overpowered(which he isnt) he’d be utterly dominating high level tournaments.

in fact, if a real tier list was made(one that wasnt compiled off of character match ups) I doubt Sagat would still be top.

Doodah - Sagat wins alot of tournies. He hasn’t won as many majors as Ryu though. I think that’s more of an issue with popularity though.

Shin_Ryu: you really havent quite grasped this whole ‘reading’ thing yet (it is a revolutionary concept). You were saying ways Ryu is as strong as Sagat, you used his ablity to link into ultra as one. So yes, they are the same in that regard, which entirely negates the point you were originally trying to make. Sagat has nearly allthe advantages of other characters (ht important ones) and then has high health and nastry damage. That’s why he’s so strong.
Im stating ways that Ryu is as strong as Sagat to let you know that it’s not as bad as you think.
Sagat can do a lot of damage with 2-3 hit combos considering that the last hit is a TU and the first two are c. lk…
Ryu can do just as much damage but it will take more hits…maybe with f.hp, c.hp into DP or something like that…
so Sagat doesn’t need to do as many hits, but Ryu does…however Ryus links and chain combos are easy…so it’s balanced.
Which gets me to the point where I don’t think Sagat is overpowered, especially when being compared to Ryu.
