Most people don’t know this but you can hit Viper out of EX seismo before it hits.
Indeed that’s news to me, I thought that the invincibility frames would not allow you to do that, and I never saw it done. Is this practical in a real match ? I’ll do some testing in training mode.
Art does it a few times in the latest vid he posted above.
It happens all the time. She be thrown out of it too but the throw needs to be active after the invincibility frames are gone. I use Viper and it happens all the time. Been hit out of it with just about every move at some point.
Thanks for the replies, I watched the vid again and it seems that the startup of the move works this way :
1 she lifts her arm in the air : invincible time
2 the arm comes down : this is when you can hit her
3 hitting frames
So if you predict an ex seismo on her wake up, you would not go for a meaty but instead slightly delay your move. Good thing to know.
He lost an INSANELY close match to Marn’s Rufus, it’s one of the matches on IGN Insider. He then was eliminated by Sanford, in a match I didn’t get to see but apparently was also very close.
he ran out of pringles lol
Loving the daily matches gives me something to do between my classes, going to be a shame when they stop. When are you leaving Japan?
hahahaha i know you were gassed over those uryo vids DONT LIE NIGGA :cybot:
Yea ex seismo is punished by delayed anything (literally, ANYTHING) after the ex seismo invincibility ends (before the ground pound hits you. I’ve even beaten ex seismo with delayed crouch tech (c. short comes out lol) not in that video tho i got hit
Okay, so update for today now that I get a chance to actually write.
Spent the day leveling up like a crackfiend since I’m so close to Master status.
39526 BP, winrate 64% AAA+ =/
last night, I was at 38200 BP or something. only need like 500 more BP to be master.
So I get to Mist 2 @ Umeda and I see a 89K BP Boxer, and I’m like wtf? This guy is higher ranked than Bamyu (the boxer that is the best player at Mist 2 according to Az, I would agree too.)
Turns out it’s Maeda Taison, the Boxer guy that everyone is jizzing about over on the Daigo thread, lol. I recorded just the vs screen then showed it to my gf later for confirmation. Either way, it was a nice surprise.
Final score? Probably something like 8-3 me 7-3 me or something like that, I don’t remember the whole score.
Unfortunately I didn’t get to record it since my gf was meeting her friend during the day…so ah well. I think probably by the 5th or 6th game i beat him he lit a cigarette and came over and smiled at me. Then the last game he came over, shook my hand and gave me some props. It was a nice feeling, too bad I can’t communicate with the guy. He played very conservatively vs me and I’m pretty good fighting against turtle boxers (at least compred to Bamyu’s, we go 50-50 more often and that fool doesnt give me any time to think.) Either way, it was good stuff. He didn’t get any dash ultras or ex armor craziness on me since I’m generally aware of the spacing. Bamyu is a nice guy too, we had some epic battles at Mist 2 the night before. It’s hard to play that guy in a long set since it requires so much mental energy to play him, he has one of the best adaptation skills ive ever seen.
So I go out to get lunch, then another master gouki player his name is just “6” comes back to mist 2 and we play like 5 games.
Final score? 3-2 him, i think one game he perfected me cause of the vortex…and I believe i got the whole set recorded. I lost my cool for a second and probably said on tape Gouki vortex is so stupid…i think because one game he perfected me after hitting me with 1 combo, and then 1 game i had a perfect on him, he hit me a full ultra, and then made me block low strong into super demon (lol, sanford does that to me a lot) and then i died. i was like fuck this since i basically lost 100% off one mistake lol.
Then I headed back to Avion. C-TYPE and dath were there (master honda and viper). i thought I was gonna reach master status tonight but dath kept going back and forth with me just cause its viper vs sim. I’m sure I’m getting better in the Viper match cause I’m playing it so damn much, before I used to lose every time for free now I’m going at least back and forth with Viper players now, its really hard. I def wanna play Uryo/Naiki first to 10 each or somethign so I can grind out my problem matches vs grandmasters.
C-Type is a pretty decent master honda. The one notable thing I noticed that he did was EX headbutt right when the jab fireball disappears and it would catch me off guard a lot. Pretty good spacing overall.
Sorry I didn’t record the Maeda Taison/dath matches, but I got some of “6” (Gouki) and C-Type, which I’ll be uploading in the next few days.
Next 2 video uploads is gonna be Chari (Blanka) vs Nike (Naiki?) w Rufus.
then acho tourney.
The move has 13 frames of invincibility at the beginning, but the startup is 19 frames. So you have 6 frames to beat it with something. So yeah just time something a little later than you would for other characters.

Basically the invincibility frames dissipate before the attack hits. It’s like what would happen if Ryu’s EX shoryu took 8 frames to come out and lost its invincibility frames BEFORE it you. You’d be able to see Ryu start up the EX shoryu…then hit him before the shoryu hits you. That’s why moves with long active frames like Blanka’s df+HP slide always beat it out at closer range. Balrog can just mash jab at her and he’ll always hit her out of it. Like said…you can throw her out of it too. You just have to see the flash and react before the attack hits you.
Yes, ALOT of characters in this game have reversals that can either be option selected, baited with a normal, or beat out with a normal if you adjust your timing. I think it’s 16 character’s in all. So…over half the cast.
W00t? /me goes to IGN …
whats option select?
U can throw her out of ex seismo each time , if u delay it a bit .
Wow. All these vids are too gdlk.
EvilNando: When you do a button command within another button command and the game chooses the best outcome based on what your opponent did. Or when one command covers multiple situations.
Like some characters can do an option select sweep to catch a character that might backdash on wake-up. Dic can do this really well.
So say it’s Dictator vs Rose. Rose is knocked down and Dictator wants to get another knockdown and maintain momentum. He could do a meaty poke on her wake-up and hit low roundhouse a little after that followed by another poke. Done correctly if Rose back dashes the first poke will whiff then Dic will do his slide to catch Rose’s backdash. If she doesn’t back dash and just blocks then Dic will not slide and will instead do the second poke. Gief is great at these as well.
Essentially it’s a mindless way to really limit someone on wake-up if they lack good reversal options.
Yeah, it’s lame and gay and stupid but oh well. That’s fighting games for ya.
At least you don’t have to deal with Chun SGGK.
Yeah, he’s pretty crazy. I was at Mist on Friday night for a little bit and played him a few times. I’d re-thought the matchup and came out strong, taking him to last round and last hit before losing. We had another fight with the same result…and then he pulled the Borg shit on me and adapted and pummeled me. He has both rushdown and wait out mode, and you have to be prepared for both because he can flip that switch at any time.
Maeda Taison has great execution and knows his tricks and the system, but Pamyu (I think its a P) is just really solid at everything. I think we need to get some vids of him.
you happen to play mago? one of if not the best sagat player around. those uryo matches where sick btw, hes got those times when he geares up and just rushes shit down hard.
