Too true. I can’t count the number of times I’ve botched punishing that move.
AAAAAAAAHhhhhhhh this all makes alot of sense!! :wgrin:
sounds like the order from best to worst SA would then be
SA2
SA1
SA3??? yes no maybe? lol

no…
sa1-best
sa2-second best
sa3-worst
Once you understand the benefits of linkable/confirmable/cancellable supers, you’ll immediately see why SA 1 is the best option.
-
It links from SOOOOO many things. Hadouken and Shoruken to name a few.
-
Sure, the damage isn’t as high as the other two, but that’s the exchange you make for a safe special. Using the frame data from ESN’s site (which I think is awesome, thanks again ESN.) http://ensabahnur.free.fr/Baston/index.php?page=gameMoves&gameNum=20&charNum=1&charName=Akuma&gameName=Street%20Fighter%20III%20Third%20Strike
you can see that SA1 comes out reasonably fast, can be done in the air, and recovers fairly fast. The air version recovers in 13 frames, which, is about .22seconds. The ground version recovers about 3.7 times slower. (49 frames.) If blocked, it also gives the opponent the least amount of time to counter.
-
The fun part, Hadouken links. If playing a parry-happy opponent, throw the FB/ air FB first, and the link the super into that. Laugh as they try to parry. (Note, if they are good, they will parry it, but by the time they are on the last parry of the attack, you will be able to counter it somehow (your options are limited if using the ground version of the super. note more time to counter if you did the air version of SA1. I recommend foiling all of their parry attempts by either dashing in and attacking low (hard to stop, even if predicted; or dashing in and throwing.)
-
Distance. Easy as that. You can cross the screen with this one, thus making punishing a tad bit easier.
-
It’s cool. A giant ball of flame rushing through the air. Gets coolness points for sure.
-
Juggles. I’m by no means good at these, so if someone else cares to explain. In some of the Akuma vids, there have been some sick juggles ending with SA1.
If something is wrong/ disagreed upon, feel free to correct me. As I have said before, I’m still learning Akuma in 3S.
P.S. ESN- 2 things.
-
Check the frame Data on Gouki. It says his SA2 has -37 frame recovery. I think that just needs to be changed to positive 37. (Unless he does, in fact recover that fast.)
-
Also, the Gouki page is great otherwise. If only all that type of stuff (Kara examples for instance) could be put onto chun’s page…

Thanks!
1/ Corrected, thanks!
2/ I play Akuma principally, and Q/Hugo/Ryu(SA3) other times, so if i add some things like i do for Akuma, it will probably for them and not for chun or others :bgrin:
Anyway, i design the site like a wiki, so everyone can add some stuffs like kara range, or setup for specific combo or whatever you want (but useful) by clicking on little blue icon with a pen near each move/combo/note name…
So feel free to add content
Im having a great time with SA2. For the time beeing the best way i’ve found to link it has been Cr MK>Fb>SA2
Its mad damage, and if I happened to do Akuma’s Taunt before it, it deals more damage than a Demon! :wasted:

c.mk > sa1 with a taunt probably does more than a demon too. Still probably has better range than c.mk > fb > sa2
just checked it, once again using Ryu as the dummy the Taunt Lk>fb>SA1 does 72 damage
the Taunt LK>FB>SA2 77
Raging Demon 71
Cool. Could you also try c.MK, FB, SA1, as that link is pretty common.
I’m sorry Spanky that was my mistake, i have no clue why I put LK instead of MK but those are all for MK links. So it would be :
Taunt MK>FB>SA1 72 damage
Taunt MK>FB>SA2 77 damage
Raging Demon 71
(ryu as dummy)
Try taunt KKZ
or Taunt BnB…
Well obviously this is all not including the 2 big boys KKZ or Demon lol
whats BnB?
Ah, ok gotcha.
It means Bread and Butter. For akuma, I think his BnB is Dive kick, LK tatsu, LP Shoryu.

noooo…
Akumas bnb is c.mk > lk tatsu > fp shoryu and all variations of course
dive kick and lk tatsu wont even combo!
Oh, my mistake. Thanks for the correction Pherai
@xxFedxx- BnB does mean bread and butter. Other than that, I’m pretty much full of it. Pherai knows his Akuma stuff though, and Harmonaz, and ESN too.
Sweet deal. my game has changed soo much since i stopped using SA3 in the past week. its unbelievable…
^ New Akuma players should use that line as their training motto!!
