Really? I’ve talked to a lot of people about this and it seems 50/50 some players prefer to dp on the 1p side.
Me personally I’ve always been as you describe. It’s much easier for me to dp on the 2p side. It feels weird that other people prefer to do it on the 1p side.
It probably comes down to grip. If you use any form of wine glass ( I have like a half wine glass half fingers) it’s easier to do motions with your fingers ( to the left) than with your palm/pads ( to the right).
I’d imagine if you use a fingers only grip then it might not be as bad.
I guess my theory is that the way you hold a stick - your palm always faces to the right making it more involved in the motions to the right ( P1) . Unless you use the full blown wine glass palm up, but that’s rare.
Hmmm… yeah maybe so. Makes sense. I use a pencil grip/wine grip I think (index and middle finger on back of stick, thumb in front, nothing on the shaft)
I guess an even easier way of putting it , is that win you stir a cup of tea with your bad hand ( because I’m right handed) you can stir clock wise easy (P2 DP) but win you stir anti clockwise (P1 Dp) your hand malfunctions like a mother fucker.
I’ve always wondered how left handers fare in FGs.
They are just slow teching , the tech window is larger than the throw window. This is basically how you avoid both a meaty and a throw. So just delay your throw tech a fraction.
It’s also about recognising tic throws and distances. What button does the character use to tic throw? Etc
That’s what Arthuro is talking about in the other thread, once you know an opponent is delay teching then you have to start using frame traps with larger gaps or delay buttons because they will always tech your throws.
There’s a whole option tree, I should probably write it up somewhere or make a basic video.
