I always enjoy playing ryu, he is my main since the start and never really switch and i don’t mash
quoting Shin_Arnoldo!
I’m a Ryu player for life, I’ll always main him regardless of his tier status. Although I don’t think he’ll be bottom tier ever, which would really hurt my feelings. As for mashing, I don’t do it often but I will do it from time to time. It’s not such a bad thing in certain situations.
So last night I was playing around with cr.mk xx Ex Hadouken > FADC > Ultra. Ive learned that, atleast for me, you have to hit FA almost right after the [2P] for the Ex Hadouken in order to cancel it, and on top of that still dash forward and connect the Ultra. My question is, is that basically why I see no one using this? Compared to SRK > FADC > Ultra, it’s more input intensive, spacing is much tighter, and requires 3 bars and not 2. Plus I think it actually does a bit less of damage. The only positive I can think of is that you are in a situation where cr.mp or cr.mk will hit them from so far that cancelling into SRK will cause it to whiff, so you could do this to do the Ultra instead. I only picked up Ryu yesterday, so if this has been discussed I’m sorry
Yeah people don’t use it too often because of the reasons you listed. It’s only good really for a round finisher, or even better a match finisher. The execution isn’t hard though. It’s just the meter wasting\dmg reducing that makes it not so useful. If you watch a lot of Daigo vids you notice that he uses it exclusively as a round finisher.
the timing for ultra is a bit tricky too, if you press the 3 punch too early ultra won’t come out cause ex hadou must hit twice first before your ultra can comes out, if you press slightly late, your ultra will whiff.
not sure about the exact damage but we all know that the ultra will not hit all
When an opponent Ryu does a j.mk crossup, I heard you can do an “auto correct dp.” How do you do that?
Anybody have a solution to Sagat’s jumping elbow? Seems like the only way out of this thing is to block.
deep FR.SRK is the best solution to that.
sry for the double post but to answer this. is a timing thing to get the auto correct DP to get
Does this work everytime if you time it right, or only during certain jumping crossups? (meaty, nonmeaty, etc.)
j.lk will stuff DPs(or if you decide to burn a ex stock) unless they timed it wrong, even with the auto correct. but yea it will work every time when timed right.
nope. you cannot “stuff” the dp… j.lk only has a strange hit-box that if done late will win over reversal dp or wrong timed dp (but if done meaty will lose to reversal dp like every other meaty jump-in/crossup) because the sprite crosses up when the dp has already started and directioned(so it will hit on the “vulnerable” side). So… j.lk done late it’s a great tool for dealing with reversal dp happy player and to create really ambiguos crossup/jump-ins but it will not work EVERY time simply beacause you cannot “win” over a well timed dp in theory. The dp must be done late,it’s hard in some situations sure…and you can make the time more strict as possibile with a well done j.lk, but it’s wrong to assert that it wil work every time like it’s a 100% sure thing that comes from the game-engine.
another question though, regarding ryu’s close mp, frame data says ryu get +3 on hit, meaning we can link c.lp or srk after that, can someone confirm? or am i reading it wrong? or the frame data is wrong?
yes u can. valle does it
ok, so that is correct, now another question is ryu’s super say 1+2
1 frame freeze and 2 frames before the super comes out right?
now is it a total of 3 frames before the super can hit? or a total of 2 frames before the super can hit?
the reason i ask is, i saw chun li’s lp (crouch or far) only have +6 on hit and it can be connected to ultra while her ultra is 1+6, any explanation will help
ryus super can be linked off of any of his normals.
i know that but i need to know how it actually works, does the 1st frame freeze doesn’t count?
does the freeze frames freezes everything including opponents recovery frame? or how does it work?
i dont know, all i know it slows down thats about it. i dont know frame data nor care to really know it
sorry but…wtf? did you read what I wrote? I didn’t say that you cannot do it (and you don’t need to be alex valle really to execute this basilar trick), i said that it won’t work all the time, it’s not a 100% sure setup as a well timed dp will win.
and what the hell means “i dont know frame data nor care to really know it”, you have to know frame data (AT LEAST of most important moves/normals of your char) to work on strategy when things get deep in terms of gameplay. How can you know when you are in frame advantage or not in certain situation!?
