Ryu General Discussion Thread: Frame Data, Strategies, Combos, etc

Nice thanks man

or if you have super meter: cr.lp x4 st.lp, mp shoryu into shinkuu

You could also do the good ol’ jMK, sHP, HP-SRK. Make sure you hit confirm on this or you’re eating something! It’s just pretty easy to perform. Oh, and don’t forget your jumping super combo strings. jMK, cMK, Hadoken may be easy and fairly standard to pull off but, jMK, cMK, Hadoken, Shinku Hadoken is baaaaad ass! I think, this would probably be hard to pull off, cross up into SRK, FADC, Ultra

EDIT: You could always jMK, throw, jMK, tick throw, or empty jump into throw. Do anything you’re close enough to pull off man. Experiment and have fun, cross ups are like free combos! Wooo! Free damage!

i dunno if it’s listed here , but anyone try:

d. LP -> d. MK -> EX fireball -> FADC -> Ultra ?

i’m still getting used to doing SRK’s on my new Hori stick (square gate feels weird), so for now, i find it easier to combo ultra via fireball motions. burns 3 meters instead of 2, though, and doesnt do as much dmg as SRK ultra.

it’s also kinda hard for me to link the LP MK, but with practice, i tihnk it could be useful.

Mickey D = tank

I’ve comboed f.MP > SRK
and f.MP > c.LP
where > means a link.
It came out 1 in 30. Is a link this tight even any use online?

WraithCo seems to know what’s a lot. Maybe too much :S

Ryu’s wiki could really do with any update, eh?

what’s the numbers in the square brackets for the shoryukens and the close HP?

Hey guys.

So I’m finally putting in some real time with Ryu. I mostly main charge characters, so the transition has been challenging and I have learned a LOT about the game.

Question: I need help identifying the combo in this video -

[media=youtube]ltfd8Y59npQ&feature=PlayList&p=39F33DAF8CE53C0B&index=3[/media]

Time = 3:52, its the crossup combo just after he throws Sim. The first hit of the combo is actually at 3:54.

I think I have the first part: j.mk -> c.lk -> c.lp -> ?punch? -> ? tatsu

If anyone can chime in here, I would really appreciate knowing the exact combo before I go practice.

Thanks!

jlk, c.lk, cr.lp, cr.HP, lk tatsu, ex shoryu

Thank you!

:china:

This might be a stupid question; Are the startup and recovery times on all 3 hadoukens(lp mp fp) the same?

What ?
that work away from the corners too ?

Thanks , almost some akuma shit goin on there .

Anyone tried this ->

j.HP, cr.MP, cr.MP, cr.MK, hadouken, FADC, cr.MP, cr.HP, EX tatsu?

I personally think people should start using FADC hadouken more, cuz it gives great mixup oppurnaties. On hit -> combo, on block -> throw / dashback and start zoning

I find the FADC easy to do as tapping out 3 ‘forward’ motions i.e

1. tap forward

pull down on the stick

2. tap forward + P (from D to DF)

3. tap forward + P&K (from D to DF)

then do the Ultra

= F, D, DF+P, D, DF+PK -> Ultra

If that makes any sense what-so-ever :stuck_out_tongue:

this thread will be stickied sooner or later.

has anyone tried this?

Hey there peoples.

has anyone tried
J.hk - c.hp focus attack cancel - ultra ( fwd hp then ultra )

not sure if its a combo string… but works 100% against computer,
about 75% online.
but i have been hit out of the focus atack with c.mk soemtimes…

so do you think this is a viable combo / cross over option with the m.k ?

I’m having a bit of trouble landing c.lp > c.hp

The timing is so different from the usual combos I do :

Practice makes perfect.

But until you can get it down, I would suggest replacing the c.hp with a c.mp in situations where application is important.

Some characters like rog [Boxer] are pushed far away from ryu after clk,clp so it’s very hard to catch them with the following cHPxxTatsuHK :\

I’ve found a random combo: jMP [only 1st hit], HPsrk exfadc Ultra does around 100dmg more than the regular jMP [both hits] ultra. Yes it looks unpractical and hard to land but better to know it.:karate:

hey do you guys think that its worth using FADC for combos (not FADC ultra)? I mean if you miss it eats two sc bards :expressionless:

I looked a lot of videos of daigo and he barely uses FADC unless he does an ultra. What do you think?

I talked with seth killian and he told me that FADC should be made by holding FA and THEN dash, because this results in a more consistent rate. BUT, is it fast enough to use in a combo like that? Actually you can do this motion really fast but just holding it very short no? I don’t like tapping because I often cant dash out.

thanks and regards
