Yes it’s the manga. Read the thread from the beginning man it’s not a long thread lol!
No Udon’s SF3 story will focus on the entire SF3 cast. Ryu Final focuses mainly on Ryu and a few others.

Finally got mine…Great.
I just loved the way Oro is in the manga…really made me laugh, good old crazy geezer “kame senin” like
Can’t wait for vol. 2 ^^
yeah it was only til recently that i started putting the kame oro relation together. both old men, who like girls, crack jokes, and can kick much ass.
Bit confused with the first volume. Theres a part towards the end of volume 1 where Ryu is talking to Elena. I dont quite get this part and whats going on. Is this a mental / psychic transembodiment kind of thing? Didnt seem like a flashback, but it seemed like physically Ryu was face first into the ground midfight with Dudley, while another his mind / a mental image of him was in the savanna communicating with Elena.
Magical tree psychic talk, that’s all.
Ah
Ive had the Japanese manga for many years and always wondered about Ryu being in some ki ball naked and firing off. Still don’t completely get it.
Edit:
(SPOILERS)
Anyone find it weird that when Ryu realizes his new “Killing blow” all of a sudden Dudley says “Oh yeah how bout that? Ive had one too!”
There is a lot of hyper regarding Ryu’s finishing move (that see in the end battles of volume 1 and 2.) It even made it to CFAS. But to me it just looks like a suped up version of Dudley corkscrew blow. In the end of volume 1 between Dudley and Ryu, its as if they had ‘same move vs same move.’
(SUPER SPOILERS read only if you have japanese volume 2, not worth spoiling:)
Im sure there have got to be some people that found Ryu’s 2nd to last move in volume 2, the one he does to Gouki after the Shun Goku Satsu, a little bit cooler. (Still that bead-blowing 2nd to last move I just remembered resembles Ibuki’s grab-energy shot super.) That same move also wipes out alot of the castle and forest they are fighting in.
When I first got volume 2 I was like he beat Gouki with a boring punch to the face? I realized later theres energy (I think) involving that punch so its like Gouki got ki-punched to the face which wasnt too bad.
Ki / Chi is connected to everything in manga / anime, mainly when it’s fighting based. The belief is like that too. Everything has Ki (though I read something once that stated animals do not have Ki, but I suppose it depends on how you wish to view things). Best comparison that comes to mind, think Goku of Dragon Ball forming a huge blast and asking people for more power even though they are pretty far away by speaking into their minds. Even when other worldly beings help him out, he can still gather power from others. Remember in SF2V when Ken could sense Ryu was in danger when he focused his Ki? Since your name is Fist of the Ryu Star, remember in Hokuto No Ken when Raoh made it rain? It’s along those lines. Ki connects everything / all.
whats the cover of this look like cuz everytime i look for it i always get ones with japanese kanji on it so im only assuming thats not english
The cover is the same as the Japanese one with Gouki AKA Akuma floating on what looks like a rock composed of bits and pieces of a wrecked dojo. There’s a huge block of English words underneath him. Matter of fact, everything on the cover is written in English, that’s the difference.
If you are ordering online they may just be using the cover of the Japanese book, just check to see if the book is from Udon, if it’s in English and that should sail you through.
Told you on Capcom BBS, that’s not it.
His 2nd to last move is just a hadouken at point-blank range. Okay one-handed but still a hadouken.
Thing just arrived today gotta mention.
I dont remember its been a while. Thats not “what” ?
Ah ok, it a slightly unique way of Ryu performing a hadouken. But it was weird, it looks like theres in energy from behind Ryu coming into Gouki’s hand before the big explosion.
You don’t see the CFAS super move until volume 2; it’s not what Ryu gives Dudley.
Makes more sense now.
Thats what I thought. But someone at Capcom-unity got me confused. I took a look at the book and they seemed similar thats where the confusion kicked in.
thx woulda had to wait til next month to figure that out
thanks
Bought this book last weekend and boy is it good. Gonna hunt down the Alpha and SF2 books to hold me over till vol. 2 of this one comes out.
