Point being that “costing meter” doesn’t make something not viable. It just makes it not free. People talking about FADC being a “get out of jail free card”, that’s wrong. If it costs meter (and half of it at that), it’s not free. Saying we’ll hardly see Angry Scar because it costs meter? Not necessarily. And regardless of whether it’s a compensation that works out to Sagat’s overall advantage or not, at least it’s something.
Besides, with his normal Tiger Shots and Tiger Knees, he’s not that reliant on EX meter anyway.
I’m hoping the rest of the cast that got nerfed get something. Though it sucks for me, since Ryu’s my favorite character and permanent main, he’s not even my main concern. What’s up with Cammy and Gen? Likewise, I hope they get something to make up for apparently getting the shaft.
LOL, it’s not about that. Maybe they’ll still be competitive characters, maybe not. We’ll see. But it’s not about having to “work a little harder”. If I just didn’t want to work hard, I’d just drop Ryu competitively, and pick up the next big top tier character that everyone complains about in Super. A lot of characters didn’t seem to get what they needed, a few got nerfed unexpectedly, Ryu got nerfed more than he needed to be. Sure, that’s a minor, or good thing if all you wanted was for Ryu to be made worse. But if you wanted a more balanced game than SFIV? So far, I’m not seeing it.
All in all, it doesn’t solve your problem. Instead of Sagat and Ryu, you’ll just have a new top that you’ll complain “doesn’t have to work hard enough”, to beat you. My vote’s on Dudley.
Shrugs As for me, I’m just going to keep doing what I’ve been doing, and as long as Ryu’s matchups are still all near even, I’ll win if I play better than my opponent, and lose if I don’t. That’s the type of character Ryu is. Hopefully his nerfs aren’t drastic enough to change that.
