The problem with SVC (aside from balance of course) is that it felt like a step down from CVS. No 3 on 3, no ratio system, no groove system. That and the game came out just after SNKP was formed and they didn’t much if anything to really get it out there.
I thought cvs and svc were both pretty bad. Cvs2 was awesome
Probably referring to CvS2 but that’s besides the point. If nothing legit is actually being posted, can we close the thread down?
yeah enough of that talk, especially in the thread that is specifically about it
The biggest reason why you see “more” jumping in today is because of the mentality of how the game is played and I’m sorry, but the devaluing of the footsies and zoning fundamentals.
Reason being is that Supers/Ultras are now a tool that can greatly compensate for a players lack of zoning and footsies which would enforce less jumping forward done by players. Since there was none of that bs in older SFII games, players had to rely more upon zoning and footsies, and doing damage equivelant to a fierces worth of damage was huge, hence why with all of these factors made it much more dangerous to take a risk of jumping in on a player, much less a very good player.
Even Jeff states an example about how jumping forward usually ='s Bad in his youtube videos even going on to say that the only person to jump in consistently on his Sagat and not get killed flat out for doing that was Tomo.
The SFII fundamentals by an average to great player back then was much higher then in todays standards which again due to how SF is now, removes and devalues this aspect. So yes, you see more jumping in today then you would have if you had gone back to 1991-94, so what I have stated holds true.
Wait is this confirmed false now or what??
If I can play a fighting game with KLONOA…
I swear to god I don’t care what tier he is. I’m blowing everyone up with wind bullets and shouting adorable nonsense.
you clearly never played SF2 in an arcade that wasn’t part of some srsbsns scene.
If your talking about the scene today, then no I’m not around the scene anymore. However you don’t see shit with footsies and positioning that went down then is basically non-existent now. No Top player today punishes Guile for throwing out c.mk, or do you see shoto’s punishing other shoto sweeps with their own with high consistency. I’m not “bashing” the current players today, so don’t assume that, however fundamental wise, it’s not the same, again, not because of the players, but because of how SF plays.
If your referring to me about back then, then yes I didn’t play with the super elites back then (talking about L.A. area). However I’m going to refrain from going with this any further as it doesn’t have anything to do with the thread topic at hand.
I agree!!!
I am a bigger Capcom fan then Namco, but oh do I want the Namco version more… Justto see how good or bad the characters translate… I think for the first time in a long time Guile may end up with a high spot on a tier list (I just see his style working better in the Tekken Engine).
Also Yoshimitsu better be in both versions.
They need to add “Derrick Cole” from “Breakdown”. He would be perfect for this game. If I had a choice of playing Derrick Cole or El Fuerte I would pick Derrick Cole. Also El Fuerte is my main in SF4 & SSF4.
I predict Ryu’s Shoryuken and Hadouken will be translated into launchers…
I’m looking forward to this. Hope it turns out good.
That has to be easily the most inaccurate tier list I’ve ever seen. Chun, Bison and Honda top 3? Yeah fucking right. And SSF4 Sagat over Akuma? Again, yeah fucking right.
Maybe if we’re talking about low tier players, but when played by top players? Yeah fucking right.
EventHubs is a fucking joke, I’ve never even looked at their tier list before. Look at Adon placement and you’ll know how blatantly off their tier list is, clearly his placement was influenced by EVO because technically he is nowhere near that rank on the list. They put T. Hawk ahead of Juri too rofl.
If you want to dispute this statement I’ll be glad to make a huge list as to why that tier list is so horribly wrong.
EDIT: LOL Hakan and Makoto behind Dan. They might be bad, but they aren’t THAT bad.
That isn’t the Eventhubs tier list Sektr, that’s the Japanese tier list. Eventhubs doesn’t have their own tier list.
I know, they rip it off of some random JP site. That doesn’t make it accurate.
Eventhubs has been known for a long time for really not knowing shit all, and just trusting some JP site to have a good tier list does not make a good impression.
EDIT: http://www.eventhubs.com/news/2010/jul/05/new-ssf4-tier-lists-mago-and-nemo/
The Arcadia list there that was made by Mago and Nemo is far more accurate although I do still disagree with several placements on it.
I’d say the actual rankings are somewhere between that one and the IPW tier list.
So you’re agreeing with me.
What are we agreeing on? I was just making a comment on that tier list overall, I didn’t mean to argue with you that Guile doesn’t deserve a high placement on the tier list. I don’t think anybody would dispute Guile is top tier, I just figured I should point out how flawed that tier list before I see 8 million Bison’s online.
