Rumble Pack : New indie fighting game

I don’t play that game. I tried it, hated the mechanics, and laughed at all of the bugs. Luckily this game is still being tested by people who actually play fighting games and are trying to get most of the game breaking things out of it. I live the mechanics of this game. It’s about like those anime fighters that actually do a good job like melty blood did.

What characters is everyone here looking forward to btw?

Either the plant girl or the pimp looking dude.

EDIT: Also IxChel

I’m looking forward to andy. Even though I gotta say, Binary Nadia, Hex Taeko, and Binary Supercut are my favorite characters so far. I think Taeko needs a Binary style, or a better way to build meter, because her Hex mode is super combo heavy, and I barely build any meter.

Sofie (Hex/Decimal) combo video up.

Super awesome video! I may need to hold a combo video challenge soon…

I used to use fraps but I dislike the frame drop it sometimes causes. I use xplit now. It’s not free and you sort of need two computers to optimally capture, but it works great for me.

There’s no hitstun decay, but there are 3 kinds of infinite protection. The first is universal. Everytime you hit the ground, a little counter decreases making it slightly more difficult to hit you off the ground until it’s eventually impossible.

The second is gravity scaling. Certain hits make the opponent fall faster during juggles. This is typically what I use to prevent infinites, but I can’t apply it to every move otherwise the game is stupid and air combos and juggles wont work at all. Basically it case to be done case-by-case.

The final protection is typically used for ground combos where the opponent wont fall. This one is rare. It just actively limits the number of times you can use a move in one combo. For example, pick Maya and do :snka:, :snkb:, :f: :snkc:, :snka:, :snkb:, :f: :snkc:. The last :f: :snkc: will whiff everytime. These are the most dangerous because if you don’t know the limits, you’re left wide open.

I’m thinking there’s something wrong with damage scaling. Some characters seem to be over-effected by it. I’m looking into it.

Yep. Roy’s AI is broken. Still looking into this one.

Hex Natalia is one of my favorites! That particular playstle was semi-inspired by Balrog/Guile. You may be right though; that particular chain might be unnecessarily tricky. I’ll see what I can do.

I find myself using EX attacks more than anything else, but it really depends on the character. Natalia’s and Taeko’s supers are great finishers whereas Maya gets to open up a wide range of combo opportunity with :d::db::b:+:snka::snkb:.

Yep, you’re right about the super. Thanks for the report! Also, can you describe the issue with Oliver in more detail?

I actually liked SFxT for the first month or so that it was out, but there are certain mechanics within the game that I don’t find fun. They seem to be interested in fixing some of them, so maybe I’ll come back to it.

Melty Blood is actually the game that inspired me to start Rumble Pack, believe it or not.

It’s cool that you guys are excited about new characters. I am going to be giving priority to completing fighting styles for now though. The ones with only one style are coming first.

Tell us more about IxChel, the character that is probably the most sexualized woman out of the bunch.

Yo hows the online for the game? playable?

Can’t change controls, buggy, runs on vanilla, no new characters. Difficult to set up.

Only pro pretty much is that it’s playable. Just wait a year or two for the Unity version.

Btw does anyone use ms expression for screen caps? or is it pretty much garbage when it comes to recording games?

BIN Sophie’s pretty sick.

Who is the best in the game?

DEC Charlotte for being a jackass, BIN Nadia for having a stun parry and a super armor special, or the stance characters which nobody wants to play.

BIN Nadia is great so far. I’m still making BnB’s for Yoko. Holding a button during one of his moves changes his stance.

Lol. So far Taeko is the character that I’m most fond of. I just wish she had moves that help out her stances, our just better moves to build meter with.

HEX Nadia & Maya. You can’t apply any pressure to Hex Nadia but Maya can because she is more broken for now. Also Bin Tsukiko still has her inescapable tick throws (for 35% damage).

Weird glitch happened during the making of his BnB. Mashed his qcb + M input and somehow got this.
Sorry that its slow…

I found a BnB finally for Yoko and found a loop! Will post vid soon

Hah, ok. I’m on this one.

By the way, we might be streaming later today, so I’ll keep you posted on that.

@liero116 I think you must get rid from almost all Invincibility frames on some moves.

Any move in particular?

Nadia Hex EX grab. (make it more like Dex Charlotte EX grab)
Maya Hex 214 special.
Oliver Dec 214 is totally cheap. Unblockable attack which unsafe only if it misses wtf.
Oliver Dec EX 236 is cheap. And normal 236 too it loses only to projectiles and some supers.

And some supers has completely pointless Invincibility frames during super freeze that don’t affect anything.

Also increased push-back in the corner makes things worse for cornered player.
Many moves becomes unpunishable in the corner. And cornered player usually can’t jump out (because jumping attacks hitboxes almost always higher than vulnerable boxes).
So cornered player usually can rely only on some very cheap special move (or very well timed Hex dash) to get out or he will be constantly poked into guardcrush.
