I’ve been doing it wrong all this time? Why wouldn’t it be possible to plink the s.hp?
yea you’re right actually, i probably should’ve double checked before i posted that. I was thinking of something else I guess. Here’s a link talking about plinking the combo. http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=206086
does rufus have any option select situations that we should know about? anybody have a list?
http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=207465
That’s the only option select I ever use. I don’t know if there’s others.
Knock bison down with forward throw. Dash twice, and go for the normal j.mk crossup. But hit j.mk~hp if they try to escape with EX headstomp/EX psycho crusher they get hit with close hp. If they didn’t do anything, they’re in blockstun from j.mk.
Been wondering about one for a backwards teleporting sim with j.hp~mk/hk messiah but I doubt it’s fast enough.
I havent seen this anywhere and its not practcal AT ALL, but its a neat combo.
lp snake strike (hits 5 times), link c.lp xx EX GT, Ultra juggle in the corner vs Sagat, does 663.
its VERY possible to plink st. fierce after your st. short.
go to the training room and read about HOW to plink again.
i dont know why the other person you quoted says that its not possible.
you can even plink it after 2x st. short at a close enough distance (but not suggested, i find it more efficient doing short, short, slight pause, st. fierce to get that counter hit on most characters)
no offense, but i dont think this is what he meant about the option select. :shake:
I know, I don’t really have any problems with it. I’ve even tried to use the short short fierce combo but I’ve found that instead of it being safer it’s actually an added risk (for me).
Does anyone use SS vs throws? It easily lets you land a ultra if it hits or a EX GT. Bait a throw the SS, s.lk -> s.hk target combo or c.lp xx EX GT (juggle with ultra if in the corner).
I do it sometimes, but usually do it subconsciously since there’s only a few scenarios where it’s useful. However, that makes me think that if Ryu tries to DP FADC and you block, instead of playing the 50/50 guessing game, just go for a SS. You don’t have to burn meter like you would for a EX messiah, and (idk about this part I’ll test it in a little bit) possibly stuff or trade with the SRK, if that’s what he does.
How does that slight pause work? Short on block should give you +3 and st. fierce is 6 frames so there’s a 3 frame window if done asap? If your opponent has a 3 frame jab, the st. fierce and jab should come out on the same frame and should trade? If it’s a 4 frame jab you should get the counter hit?
instant dive kick would serve the exact same purpose, and wouldn’t lose so horribly if they decided to just sit there and block.
Yeah I thought the same thing pretty much as soon as I posted, but still dope lol
LK Messiah would be a better option than SS against throws. It lets you counter people who throw multiple meaty shorts on wake-up. Otherwise, dive kick is definitely the better option.
@Semitry: I’m not so sure doing the slight pause from short short to hp is that effective. On block, anyone with an invincible frame start-up move can interrupt after the first standing short
its about the spacing and the hitbox of the st. fierce, you’re supposed to be at the point where the close animation comes out still. i’ve stuffed out viper’s thunder knuckles with these and caught other people off guard. it works for me. i cant explain further at the moment… these midterms are killing me
HAHA. im pulling an all-nighter at the moment. :arazz:
i see what you’re saying tho. this would work well against anyone who doesnt have a DP like move.
oh and a strategy against Sagat’s tiger knees:
if you keep your distance (prefreably mk tiger knee) and try to predict when they come, you can time a crouching short which kinda moves Rufus’ hitbox area away for a split frame. it’s just like ryu or chun li’s crouching forward. if u space it and time it right, you can punish with standing hp to gt. i didnt have much success with Rufus’ crouching forward.
I was messing around in training mode the other day and for some reason I couldn’t get s.lk s.hp to connect consistently depending on how deep/high I hit my dive kick. I was practicing on Ryu and noticed that if I hit Ryu’s waist with a dive kick I could combo into s.lk but couldn’t hit s.HP. I can do the combo consistently when I dive kick the knees but I was just wondering why this is? Also, I realized that if I do land a deep dive kick, the combo s.lk s.lk s.hp will connect much more consistently.
