Not sure if Messiah is the whole reason for Justin being frustrated, just the one that’s highlighted in that interview. Look at where Wong (and Ricky) is getting stuffed–during dive kick shenanigans by DP. If he can’t hit that 1-frame link for BnB or if he hits the dive kick too high, he’ll often eat SRK. And look at CEO 2012–he gets Momochi (who played Cody, a character with no answers for dive kick aggression) in Grand Finals and completely annihilates him. The momentum for Rufus swings like a giant pendulum, and Shotos can not only disassemble Rufus’ pressure but can also immediately turn it back on Rufus.
Personally, I think Justin’s bored with Rufus’ metagame. And that usually means that he’s not going to try and evolve it. But I can’t blame him, he’s been playing Rufus forever. Maybe Adon or Cammy might freshen up the game for him.
Hello Rufus forum =) I remember seeing a Rufus at CEO get a knockdown in corner, jump over the body, then dive kick before landing to score a weird hit. Anyone have any footage of this? >.>

Yeah, that’s a nice set-up which is hard to space correctly. If you jump over someone you can still divekick but you have to treat it like your facing the opposite way, so basically you do a down-back divekick instead of down-forward like normal.
This is only really useful in the corner because you can still combo if you do it correctly, although it has it’s uses for baiting. Most players don’t realise Rufus can still divekick after he has jumped over them.
No I’m afraid it’s not something I use regularly and I don’t see many top players use it, as Rufus has more reliable divekick setups he can use. I’ll be sure to look out for it in future streams/videos though
Abel can’t really afford a knockdown in this match.
Wheel Kick is, at best, -10 on block for Abel (-12 and -15 for :mk: and :hk: respectively) . Meaning it’s incredibly risky for him to just throw out there. At max range, :lk: can be hard to punish because Rufus’ sweep has a 12f start-up so it’s not viable. Crouch jab or crouch forward to EX GT should take care of that though.
Tornado Throw has a 5f start-up, so it can’t be spammed like Gief’s SPD.
If he’s into Marseilles Roll shenanigans on Rufus’ knockdown, crouch jabs usually shut that shit down right away.
You can bulldog this guy. He doesn’t really have a “get off me” move like SRK or Messiah Kick. Once you’re in his face, do not let-up.
Where Abel will inflict damage: Marseille Roll mix-ups on knockdown, reading jumps with Wheel Kick, generic cross-ups into block strings/Tornado Throw, and improperly blocked Change Of Directions (which really shouldn’t be a problem).
If it goes to a footsie war: crouch fierce and sweep are obvious go-tos. As are standing forward and standing strong. Crouch fierce can be read and Wheel Kicked however so beware.
Look up videos of Justin or Ricky playing against Juicebox. Hope this helps.

Well if you want it to come out as fast as possible then it’s just forward dash, then qcf x2 as fast as you can I think. Personally since I switched to stick from pad I do down, down-forward then qcf. Seems to reduce the risk of ex ss coming out (that might just be my problem though).
