Saved Replays on PS2 aren’t reliable- (for example…some matches start ok then the chars stop in place like if you were to push start and button config.)
I’ll have to bring a camcorder next time and do it that way…

But my question is this:
What is the difference between this and other match vids on places like YouTube? I mean seeing Alex play a few casual matches is great, but it’s not something that I think warrants all this hooplah. I have match videos of AE practice from Pre-EVO that I recorded as a test for quality, but I didn’t think anybody would want to see them, so I never bothered encoding.
In addition, these vids will pretty much be limited to ST and 3s, since Valle isn’t a top player in anything else (besides maybe Tekken 5) at the moment. So maybe having other top players from Cali play their respective games and getting those vids would make some sense. I’m all for seeing Alex tear it up in his games, but I’d also like to see what the other coast is up to in CvS2 and MvC2 as well.
I think initially this should do really well, but after seeing the same players go at it for the upteenth time, it will probably get old. Maybe if other people follow suit and start YouTubing their casuals (notable players from all over the country who know what they’re doing please) then maybe this idea will make more sense.
Also, I think that once this kind of footage is readily available, it will die out pretty shortly in popularity. Right now the only footage we have of top players is pretty much scarce footage of EVO or local tourneys from camcorders…but once we are bombarded with footage of top players fucking around in casuals, the appeal won’t really be there anymore. Plus, if people are playing casuals, probably about 90% of the matches won’t even be good…there is some ugly shit that happens in casuals son!
Anyway please don’t take this as a flame, because it’s not intended to be such. I just don’t see how this thread got stickied when it’s basically Valle saying he’s going to be sharing some casual matches with us. I don’t see the big deal to be honest, and I think the appeal will die out quickly. I mean look at that Korean CE stream…we watched it for 1-2 nights, now nobody gives a shit anymore. We always want what we don’t have, but once we have it, it’s not nearly as valuable anymore.

The replay save problem is a glitch in the US version of 3s. If you have a Jap version, then that method should work fine.
Although I’m kinda iffy on throwing arcades under the bus and sticking with console, I’m still looking forward to the footage.
