yesterday I was thinking as a guile main, I obviously like to start my rounds with a sonic boom. Everytime I start a round, I think, will it be safe to throw a jab boom? depends of course on the character you are fighting and the amount of super meter. I know from experience that I never start with a boom against RYU, SIM, CHUN, KEN, ROG, BLANKA because they have tools that might hurt me 50-50, I dont like to take my chances.
Which characters is it safe to start with a jab boom? (round 1 meterless)
Guile and Honda, come to my mind(correct me if I am wrong)
Personally I don’t do it. The way I play, the first 10 seconds are so important to get that early lead so I’d rather not give my opponent a free jump-in.
yes, you have a point, and I do not start with a boom everytime, but if you do start, which characters is it safe to do it?
free jump-in , I dont see that happening quite often to be honest and if I do get one in, that player already risked alot for nothing, I can still block everything he throws at me after I recover from jab boom.
i open the round with Back-fist on the characters i cant safely SB
I see, I guess Dudley would be a good candidate, I really don’t know though. Honda too. Makoto?
ducking straight for dudley = not safe lol
Block is high tier opening move imo.
doesn’t lp sonic boom recover fast enough to block it?
Its not about blocking incase of Dudley, its that he already closed the distance on you, limiting your options for the get-go.
Also he meant its not safe for dudley to do ducking straight :P.
Wouldn’t slides beat back fist? Blanka? Guy?
yes, it is not a good idea.
Well against blanka i wait for the slide and punish with mp>FK, i dont ALWAYS go for the back fist.
